The sunrise tour was fantastic. They picked us up exactly on time and our minivan was very comfortable, even though it was packed full. There was a bit of time lost with pick-ups on the way there, so by the time we got to Tikal it was getting close to sunrise. Because of this, the pace of the hike on the way to the sunrise temple was pretty punishing. But, we made it to the temple around half an hour before sunrise and the magic began as we climbed to the top of the temple. It was beautiful and listening to the jungle wake up was an experience I'll never forget. Our guide was grear and told us the whole fascinating story of Tikal and the Mayans who lived here. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure people understood the information and any instructions in both English and Spanish. The ruins are spectacular, and we rate this as our absolute highlight of Guatemala. Some notes to help you prepare if you decide to do this tour:
- Read the notes in the email they send you and book the tickets and sunrise fees for the national park online the day before your tour. You need to pay the fees to the national park separately and it must be done in advance.
- Wear comfortable shoes. You will be on your feet the whole day. The bus drops you off at the park entrance and you will walk the whole way around the park. It's not strenuous, but most people were pretty tired by the time we left.
- Take a head torch. The first 40 minutes of your tour will be spent walking through the jungle in the dark to get to the first temple for sunrise.
- Bring snacks and a lot of water. There's nothing open when you arrive, and the only chance to get any food or drink is at the end of the tour - they take you to a cute little restaurant for breakfast when you leave the park at around 10:30-11am.

I had a lovely time in this tour. It was a large group that later on got split in two with an English and a Spanish guide. I was in the Spanish group and we were 9 people and it was great. Our guide was very knowledgable and had worked in the area for many years in different roles. He was able to point out fauna and flora as well as sharing lots of historical and cultural facts about the site. It was very foggy in the morning so we did not see much but our guide made sure we had time to go back later to enjoy the views with the sunlight. I really enjoyed the day!

Very easy trip, pick up was exactly on time and had a great morning.
The minibus had extremely noisy, grating brakes and the driver kept kicking the tyres and frowning as we waited to leave and we had to stop to fill one with air which didn't inspire us with confidence!! It would be good if this could be done before the customers are onboard!
On arrival, we had a good walk through with headtorches (bring your own) through some of the ruins which looked brilliant in the dark and then up to the sunrise platform. A fair few other people were there but eventually everyone was quiet to appreciate the sunrise, and the howler monkeys, amazing sounds from all around us! Sunrise was spectacular and then we had a good tour around the park for a few more hours.
There was only one guide and the tour was in English AND Spanish so there were times where we had to wait 15 minutes while the Spanish section was done and then it was done all over again in English. It would be better if there were tours in one language or the other to save hanging about.

An amazing experience at such a deep part of history! Amazing views, learned a lot, and would definitely recommend using this tour to check out the ruins. Our tour guide was excellent!
