Tada was an amazing guide and very friendly! He guided us safely to the end of the ice caves and gave a lot of great history in the cave and of Japan in general. He went above and beyond for our experience and was really friendly overall. I would recommend booking with him and exploring the area as he is very knowledgeable!

This was one of the coolest experiences on our trip. I have only been down in a cave once before and they had handrails and steps, so it wasn't really climbing around. This was super cool, and had it not been for the melting ice (not their fault) it would have been amazing. I am so glad I didn't hurt myself in there, but even though it is called the wind cave, it was more of an ice cave. We ended up having a private experience though because the other group didn't show up, so the guide was able to help me maneuver carefully through the ice. Our tour guide Tada is a local and gave us a lot of history on the area and even some recommendations for amazing food!
Fantastic experience!

Toshio was an awesome guide! He picked us up from our hotel. He was very knowledgeable about the surrounding forest and the animals in it. He made sure we were safe climbing down in the cave. The cave was super cool to see and the surrounding forest was so beautiful and serene. My husband and I had a great time and would definitely recommend!
Fantastic

Great experience with an easy going tour guide. Slightly dangerous in the winter times so wouldn’t recommend older folks/ kids for this.
A hidden forest of spirits and underworld ice.

My 10-year old daughter will probably remember our visit to the Aokigahara Forest and the Ice Cave more than anything else we have done on our trip to Japan. Toshi, our guide, was wonderful; deeply knowledgeable about the forest and the wildlife, humorous, and super responsible to insure that everyone had a safe and comfortable experience. The caves were moving; a subterranean world of ice and rock formed by a volcanic eruption 1200 years ago, all set within a mysterious and spooky forest unlike any I have ever seen before. We did it as a day trip from central Tokyo, and it was a full day, but doable by train. I highly recommend this tour.
Charming hike through the forest and cave

The forest and cave were beautiful. And Thara was a really good guide, very patient while we took our time. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars us because it was treacherous with all the frozen ice in the cave. So if you are not fit or have back or knee issues, this activity should be avoided.
GO if you like nature!

It was mid March, early spring, the forest still has some snow, it looked peaceful and magical! Tada san was very experience and knowledgeable, he showed me the animals track and wild mushrooms, told stories of forest, animal hunting etc. On that day, with melting ice, the path to the cave was a little slippery and i was not confident to go down , he was very accommodating and brought me to another cave with easier access. Enjoyed the ice cave tour, interesting and beautiful forest.. Thank you!
Amazing experience

The whole experience was amazing, our guide was really nice and explained very well to us a lot of things about the Aokigahara forest and the ice cave, with parts about geology, fauna and plants. Everything was perfect from start to finish and everyone in my group absolutely loved itt

My sister and I had our baggage delayed so did not have our warm clothe. You get an overalls to put on which kept us pretty warm with our layers. We are size 2x-3x. we were offered wet boots but they did not fit our calves. we went early march unfortunately it snowed the day before and then iced over when we wentl My sister also busted her knee before going so When we got to the ice cave it was a little treturous to go down. there was ice all over the entrance that I was slipping on so I didn't go down the cave. Please know to get down to the cave is a short cliff down and to get down the cave there is wooden ladders, so if you are not used to doing hiking and outdoors adventures this might not be for you. This might have stop some from having a nice time but we thought it was beautiful. The snow in the forest was gorgeous and there was birds singing the whole time. Our wonderful guide would stop and show us things in the forest and explain about the differences in nature and lava changes. He was great and took us around the forest Ill try to update with phtots later

Amazing experience! Toshi San was our guide. Not only did he wait extra long for us to arrive, he kept constant communication with me making sure we were headed on the right track, he also provided transit information for our way home. Didn't have to do any of this but I am very grateful he did. Onto the adventure! During the walk to the cave, he provided us with so much information about the beautiful trees, poisonous wild foods around the area and animals. During the walk into the cave, he was very cautious and always kept making sure we were OK and instructing us how to move certain ways, very very helpful and extremely attentive. Couldn't have asked for a better guide during such a fun and unique experience. Would do it again and would recommend this to any and everyone.
Must do, so interesting

Fun little hike into the forest and cave

Really fun hike. Tada-San was really funny and knowledgeable. He is fluent in English and explained to us in detail origins of the cave and forest. Totally worth the experience.
Ideal experience when staying at Lake Kawaguchiko

The Ice Cave tour was amazing, but what really made the tour perfect was our guide Toshi. He was extremely informative and passionate about the region, and made the entire tour so welcoming and humorous. Toshi also picked us up from our accomodation and dropped us to the train station afterwards, which we were extremely grateful for. We hope to return to do one of his other tours. The location itself was fascinating, both the Ice Cave and the Aokigahara Forest we walked through.
Amazing experience

Going into a pitch black dark cave was really exciting . You have to wear overalls and helmets with lights Tada, our tour guide showed us many interesting points in the cave and he is really entertaining. Highly recommended!
Unexpected but love it!

The local guide, Tada, who is proficient in English, is very experienced and knowledgeable about the forest, the cave. From chatting with him, we learnt so much more about the forest, which we walked through, in order to get to the cave. We also have a glimpse of a local Japanese family, as we heard about his family life. The tour itself is amazing - the forest is beautiful, with moss, tall pine trees all around, and black lava rock paving the way; and the cave is different from the ones we visited in Malaysia and Tasmania. This is lava cave. No echolocation, no glow worms. Going down and coming up require a certain level of fitness. A novice to climbing can do this, but have to be prepared to use hands and climbing steep steps at times. As we were given helmets with lights on, and an overall, and gloves, it’s safe and our clothes are not dirtied. And it’s warm, despite being 1 degrees Celsius. At this time of the year, it is melting season, so we didn’t see ice. But Tada also mentioned that this seems to be a warm winter, so that affects the ice in the cave. We enjoyed this tour very much.
Peaceful, beautiful experience!

I loved my tour! It was just me and my guide and it was great to get to talk to him about the forest and a number of topics. He was super knowledgeable and clearly passionate about nature and the area and was very patient with me as we made our way deep into the beautiful, fascinating cave. He was also very helpful and went out of his way to find out information for me on a local attraction. I definitely recommend!
Great time with guide Toshi

We had a great time with guide Toshi who was fluent in English and showed us both the forest and the cave!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

This was an incredibly unique Japan Experience. Tada was a most excellent Guide. Picked up us at the meeting location exactly on time, drove us to the Forest where we geared up and hiked into the dense forest and cave entrance. Tada provided excellent history and information about the Forest and the Caves. If you have a chance to do this activity don't hesitate. It truly was one of the of most memorable parts of our trip. Note: Participants should be in relatively good health, and able to hike into the Forest and climb into the Cave down a ladder, and up the ladder to get out. Wearing appropriate footwear and clothing is a must. The Cave is Cold and there is Ice in the depths of the Cave even in the Summer and Fall months. Again we HIGHLY recommend this tour and Tada! We are looking to return and have Tada Guide us up to the Summit of Mount Fuji on a later trip! Thank you Tada for the wonderful Experience!
