Good experience overall. Our guide Minh was great. We had a good time. The best advice would be to go in a low season. We were lucky that there were not that many boats.

An absolutely surreal experience, sailing in the Halong Bay on a cloudy day, which made the experience just out of this world. A fantastic tour guide 'Harvey' and a great driver. A great ship to cruise in; superb food at the lunch buffet. And the cruise among the islands themselves. Just magical. I could not have spent a better day. Many thank to the tour operator, Cozy Tours for having given us a million star experience.

I had a great time on this trip despite it being a very long day (approx 3 hour drive each way from Hanoi). The lunch provided was a great selection. On the way back I was dropped near the hotel to find my own way but as I’d only arrived the night before I didn’t know where to go so that was frustrating but I appreciate the buses don’t fit down the smaller streets. An FYI for people doing the trip in the future: the stops are fairly short so at the stop with the viewpoint hike and beach, there isn’t time to do both. One complaint for the company is that it would be better if smoking is only allowed at the back of the boat so it doesn’t waft through the boat from the front.

Memorable cruise

I liked the fact that we were contacted via WhatsApp before the trip to be reminded were and what time we will be picked up. The food was excellent and we just loved sunset party. The guide was doing his best, but his English was hard to understand.

Halong Bay - a must see for all!

Just cruising around the bay was delightful. What a beautiful feature of nature! We rode the boats instead of kayaking because we were afraid of getting wet and it was pretty cold that day. If we got to do it again, we would probably kayak. The cave was amazing g as well. The two tour guides went out of their way on the way back to the port to include a representative from each country (of the tourists) to suggest a song and dance from their country. It was fun!

Halong Bay is beautiful

The bus was on time and was comfortable which was good as it takes a while to get to Halong Bay. The boat was good but unfortunately the food was only barely lukewarm. This was the only thing to complain about though as the day was lovely. Even though the weather was overcast we took good pictures and had a great time in the caves, on the small boat etc

Hạ Long Bay view and landscape were great. But the food and the tour guide were very average. The guide didn’t speak English well at all and didn’t give much information when we went to the cave and the island. Overall an average experience. We were shocked and very disappointed bc the guide asked us to tip the driver 3 times at the end of the trip. We left feeling pressured to tip. Not a 5 star trip as I expected.

Very bad customer service, very bad driver

We were a group of 9 total including 3 kids ages 5, 7 and 9. We were picked up at the agreed location, however at the end of the tour the driver Mr. Giang decided he would just drop us off in the middle of the street Hang Bong. There were no group left on the bus, and 2 of the kids were exhausted and thus napping on the bus --- Mr. Giang literally dropped us in the middle of Hang Bong street, telling us he had other business to take care of and thus would not drop us off at the agreed upon location the company promised us. We had to wake up the kids, stood in the middle of the streets to try to get 2 taxis to get home. This left a very bad taste for the entire trip, and we would never use this Cozy Bay company again. Mr. Giang was rude, lacking compassion, and the Cozy Bay company did not know how to manage their drivers such as this one.

However we have tried to arrange a 1-way pick-up in the morning, this has been informed to you in advance and you have confirmed it with us. We are not responsible for the discussion between you and the driver because it's personal agreement. This full day tour to Halong Bay was amazing! The buffet food was great and there was a good variety of food. The cruise ship was very beautiful and pleasant. The cruise through Halong Bay was one of the most amazing views that I have seen while traveling. Halong Bay is definitely worth going to see. I can’t wait to go back one day with my boyfriend who couldn’t make it on this trip to Vietnam because he didn’t have enough vacation days. I am definitely going on this cruise again but I may stay overnight next time if I have an extra day because the views are so amazing that it is worth staying the night. The activities were also very fun. I loved seeing the all the monkeys while canoeing. The views on top of Tritop Island was breathtaking! The sunset party on the deck for the boat at the end of the night was so much fun! I didn’t expect to have so much fun during the party. The staff made sure to put on all different types of music for all the different guests on the boat, and we all danced. They put Indian music, Spanish music, Vietnamese music, Filipino music, etc. It was such a great fun crowd and I had a great time during this tour!

A Day in the Tourists meatgrinder that is Ha Long Bay

Unfortunately the tour was far from being a 5 star experience as advertised, despite the efforts of the omnipresent guide, Tony, who managed to maintain control of a tour group of around 20 people and showed us stunning natural gems all around. The problem is that Ha Long Bay tours have nothing like a 5 star experience anymore. Tourists are thrown into this money meatgrinder where everything is timed and impersonal, where the crowds are so massive that you start queing right off the boat and end your queue as you step back into the boat, off to the next stop. I understand the need to time all activities in order to squeeze as much as possible into one day but in cases like these quality has to be better than quantity. Being addressed as "tourists like you" several times throughout the whole day didn't really help the tour to feel any special, personal or exclusive at any point. The beauty of the bay is a marvel of nature but the take away of touring in Ha Long Bay, personally, was being left with the feeling of being just the next cow to be milked. The once amazing cave probably died years ago as the carbon dioxide of all the crowds killed all resemblance of moisture on any of its stalattites and stalagmites. The bamboo boat/kayak activity was a 30min stroll in a fenced area where a passage was dug into a hill to access a lake. The Ti Top island stop was a lovely yet crammed beach spot where you could either have a dip for 30min or climb to the top of the hill, 500 step, each one of them occupied by the next tourist, all to reach a pagoda from where the amazing view of the bay was available only when crowds moved away. As for the buffet lunch some dishes on the buffet ran out halfway through the service and were never replenished (desserts), the red wine offered was just a sugary grapejuice and the cakes were cheap single packed biscuits from the local cornershop. No stars there either. All in all, I wouldn't tour Ha Long Bay again (with any tour) and this was off season too. If, instead, one wants to experience it for a change, then this tour a good choice; Tony speaks a good english and can make sure everyone is safe whilst hopping from one island to the next.

November and December is the very high season for tourism on Halong bay. The local authorities only allow us to cruise on a certain route and visit certain spots on the bay and we understand that, in some spots it's very touristic. Very complete itinerary for a single day trip

Cozy appears to have some of the newest buses and boats in Ha Long. They manage to pack quite a bit of activity into the itinerary and it's a long and active day. The best part is the beautiful sunset as you ride back in calm waters.
