Overview

Enjoy both the sunrise and sunset on this full day tour of Cradle Mountain from Hobart. This is one of Australia’s most beautiful national parks, and you will have up to five hours to explore it by hiking, walking, climbing, taking photographs, or just sitting and relaxing. On the way there, you’ll pass through villages, farmland, forests, grass plains, forests, and so much more. Your guide will take care of all the logistics so you can enjoy it.

Note that you’ll stop for meals, but they are at your own expense

Sam is an awesome tour guide & we thank him for such a brilliant day. His outstanding knowledge of the environment & history makes the experience more complete. It’s a huge day from pick up to drop off but so worth it. We were very fortunate to have a beautiful clear warm sunny day & we made the most of it by doing the climb to Marion's Lookout. We'd highly recommend this to anyone who’s up for the challenge!

Best way to spend a day in Tasmania

A truly magical day. While the distance covered may seem large for one day, Sam has the pacing worked out perfectly. He brings all the pieces together to create an amazing experience. There are hikes to fit every level and a beautiful lodge with great chairs for lounging. What’s not to like? Sam is passionate about Tasmania and after spending a day with him, you will share that as well.

The ride from Hobart to Cradle Mountain is a bit long but our tour guide, Sam, arranged everything nicely and made the trip an enjoyable one. Sam is friendly and knowledgeable. Cradle mountain and the lakes there are beautiful. The views from Marion Lookout is stunning and the hiking experience is refreshing. One of the best tours in Tasmania.c

Solo lady conquers Marion’s Lookout

I was the only one in our party keen to go to Marion Lookout. Was so pleased I did! I am a quite fit female (in my forties) & made the 3.5km hike from Dove Lake (via boat house &wombat pool-30mins/1.7km) to lookout in total 1hr 8mins (incl plenty of photo stops). 1hr 15mins (3.5km) to come down to Ronny Ck carpark (again incl plenty of photo stops & wombat watching). Need a good level of fitness for this but was so pleased guide Sam gave me the encouragement I needed to head on this solo quest. Sam is a good Aussie bloke, and although was a huge day, he made the trip very relaxed. He is the only operator from Hobart to Cradle mountain, so I was pleased to get this opportunity to explore some of this national park on my short time frame

Great for a solo traveler who wants to see further place out of Hobart

I was a solo traveler who didn’t rent a car so I had been feeling a bit shame that I couldn’t do much things except for the commonly known tours in Hobart like Brudny Island tour and Bonorong Sanctuary visiting. This tour is just perfect for me, who had short holidays but I could go as far as I can go without renting a car and enjoy trekking and making a unique experience. The weather was not perfect for hiking but it wasn’t rainy all the time. I could see some blue sky sometimes and see rainbows. I was just happy to see Wombats near Cronny Creek😊 I didn’t know that I could see Wombats there so it was a good surpsing for me. And the guide, Sam, was very nice and very informative. I got good, positive vibes from him, in spite of long distance driving, so thankful that he organized this tour.

Amazing day tour from Hobart to Cradle Mountain

Sam and Garry are very friendly, knowledgeable, and well organised. A bit unfortunate that we couldn't see the mountain due to weather condition, but it was a good and unique experience to walk around the dove lake and we saw wild wombat closely. The journey was long but smooth. Not ideal when the tour was full, and needed another car, fitting three people at the back seats.

Great trip! Well planned out day with good midway stops. Highly recommend...let Sam do the driving while you enjoy a comfortable ride through the countryside and a nice hike at Cradle Mountain!

Very memorable trip!

I did 4 organized tours with various agents in Tasmania, but this one is the most memorable one. This is the only tour to Craddle Mountain from Hobart, but I cannot imagine it could go any better. Very well organized. There is a long drive involved as Craddle Mountain is far from Hobart, but there are multiple stops on the way with beautiful sights, so the journey is not tiring or boring. The hike to Marions Lookout is breath-taking, and so are the views from the top. Sam, the guide, is super nice and very knowledgable. I was also lucky to meet great people on this 15 hours journey. Highly recommended!

This was a fabulous experience. Sam is a fantastic guide with great energy, kindness and patience. The hiking opportunity up to the look out and back (7km) is not to be missed. The views are epic and the trail is in great condition. The stops for breakfast and dinner had great food and atmosphere . Would highly recommend!!

Amazing experience met 6 awesome solo travelers our group became a family some of us went really fast and way ahead and some just hung out Sam was really amazing and very flexible and an awesome guy such an amazing trip highly recommend!

AN OUTSTANDING TOUR NOT TO BE MISSED

It gives me great pleasure to recommend this wonderful tour to any one that wants to see and enjoy the best of Tasmania's countryside and wilderness. Our tour (6 people) lasted nearly 14 ours but it is so cleverly designed that it never went for more than 1 and 1/2 hour or so, until the next attraction or just a stop to relax. The walk of 3 hours (8 kms) around Lake St Clair is the highlight of the trip and it is just absolutely "magic". And to top it all, an end of the day dinner at De Lorraine with great conversation with the other members of the tour and amazing country food. The tour operator and our guide Sam was very informative (using a clearly understood p.a. system) and also very nice and caring wit all of us.

Amazing day tour!!!

Sam is an amazing tour leader. He gave a good traveling experience in Tasmania for example he took us to the place that I never seen on the attraction recommend on Google. If you want to travel to the real Tasmania, traveling with Sam is the best choice. He very well entertained and gave the good care of all passengers all over the trip. If I back to Tasmania, I definitely travel with him again.

We were lucky enough to book two tours with Sam from Derwent Experiences, a 14-hour Cradle Mountain tour and a tastings tour around Richmond and New Norfolk areas. Both were excellent! I would thoroughly recommend them. Sam is a very friendly, personable and knowledgeable guide who was super attentive to everyone’s needs on the tour. All activities were tell timed and engaging. I met some lovely people along the way. It was so much easier (and relaxing) than hiring a car and driving ourselves. Big thumbs up !

Excellent logistics planned by the tour company, Sam our guide made sure everything ran smoothly with appropriate stops, while keeping things interesting. Great views on all walks. Sam was able to advise on alternative routes for all fitness levels. Highly highly recommend this tour, stress free way to enjoy the Cradle Mountain national park!!

Absolutely spectacular. Of all the tours and activities I’ve done in my month-long trip, this was far and away the best experience with the best group leader. Everything about the day was planned perfectly and it went by lightening fast. Sam is a top- notch guide and person. Oh, and Cradle Mountain is beautiful. An absolute gem and highlight of this great place.
