Loved it all. Especially the feathered Kahili room, and the sweet story of stone Kaneikokokala now 'staying warm'. He seems very happy.

More than you expect
Kelly_J, Jan 2024
It was raining, so I needed to find a place indoors to enjoy. We spent two hours here, but could have spent more. It was more than I expected. The main building/museum was so ornate and well designed. Learning about Hawaiian and other native island groups was interesting and included so many artifacts.
A collection that is beyond expectations.

Too much to absorb in one visit. The sheer magnitude of the structure itself is astounding. The collection includes one incredible piece after another.
Hawaiian Cultural!

Great Hawaiian Cultural. Very interesting. I like the fact that the museum campus has a number of building that focus on different subject matters. The Science building, the Planetarium building.
Learn about the cultures and histories of Hawaiian and other Pacific peoples

What an amazing find! We had recalcitrant weather one day, and looked for indoor things to do, and found this museum. A wonderful way to learn about modern efforts to revive traditional Hawaiian arts, learn about Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures, and experience other information. There wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted to do!

Bishop museum

Went with my Hawaiian husband. Meant a lot more to me as i am widely read in Hawaiian history. Otherwise, i think it would be overwhelming with all the names, although I’m sure that a guided tour would make it interesting even to outsiders.

Hawaiiana at its best. Ancient thru mid 1900’s history well told. Being from here, a good reminder of history.

There was so much to see and it was presented in an interesting and understandable way. I visited midweek and almost had the place to myself, so I was able to take my time.
Don’t miss it!!!

The whole museum is one extraordinary educational experience
A new experience
rod4rocketmail, Nov 2022
I enjoyed learning about navigation of those sailors sailing the seas. It was informative. The museum itself focused on the history of Hawaii and how the monarchy reshaped Hawaii while preserving it’s culture.
So much history
Iris_O, Nov 2022
So much to see. So much history. Take the time to fully appreciate Pacific islanders' history, not only about the Hawaiians.
The feathered capes!...

The feathered capes! Historical materials were well displayed and explained, throughout. Bill, a museum associate, was extremely helpful.

Museum is quite informative, but there is some pretty strong smell inside of the halls. It killed the expensive for us. Not sure what it was, smelled like some cleaning supply or other chemicals
