I loved every minute of the tour. From the Coffee plantation to the volcanos to the lava tube and the rainforest. Mel was the absolute best tour giide with tons of knowledge. Very easy to talk to and ask questions.

Mel was a simply fantastic tour guide. You could certainly do this trip on your own, but you wouldn't get the wealth of knowledge a native Hawai'ian brings. Mel never stopped sharing the history of his ancestors and the island. We can't thank him enough.

Beautiful day trip

We had an early flight out of Honolulu and met our driver Mel. After that went to a shop to get some breakfast and make our way towards the volcano. We stopped by a smaller beach and later at a coffee farm. There you can see a little bit of the process, different to the usual tourist outlets. On the volcano we were a bit unlucky with the weather but managed to get a few dry periods for photos. It was worth while doing. Time is tight even though we flew out from Hilo, which is a good way of doing it. Everyone needs to try to stick to the advised times at the stops or you will have to cut the trip short to make the flight.

Too long.

This tour was too long. Everything was good but i would cut out 2 hours and some stops to not feel rushed at each stop inside the park. I would have liked this tour to be closer to the advertised 8-5 hours including my flight. Maybe skip some of the lava fields (saw several) and the ocean arch to save time.

The Big Island

This was the perfect day trip from Oahu! They booked everything and we had no issues from beginning to end. We got a taste of the island, it's people, the food and the beautiful scenery all in one day. Our guide Henry was knowledgeable, funny and a great guide all day. I recommend this tour if you are looking for the highlights of a beautiful island!

Our driver/guide Mel was great providing loop it’s of information and context for what we saw. From the coffee farm to the lava fields and black sand beaches… and the amazing lava tube, he kept things on track and got us from Kona to Hilo without any issues.

More than I could hope for

I honestly thought I would just see the volcano but, it was so much more! Henry was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely passionate about showing myself and others this amazing island (his families home for generations) and all about its history and current state. If you truly want to experience The Big Island and the true spirit of “Aloha” this is the one! Everything was amazing, from the flight over from Oahu to making new friends on the journey, I highly recommend this adventure!!

The Volcano National Park and all its phenomenal pieces was unforgettable. Lava fields, lava tube, breathtaking views - all were interesting and amazing. Our native guide - Mel was full of Hawaiian history and made the day fly by - so knowledgeable, thoughtful and kind. Definitely worth the experience. Thank you!

Much to be desired

First and foremost I would not recommend doing this tour, just fly yourself to the big island and rent a car, much cheaper and you would be able to do anything you want, which there is much to see. I could have done without stopping at 5 different stores. Why did we stop at so many stores? Secondly time spent at volcano national park was very brief as other reviews have stated and really left me feeling let down. Had to hit the stores! However, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and we did have fun seeing the island. Definitely wouldn’t pay this amount for a tour of this sorts ever again. Just do your own thing you won’t regret it a simple google search of things to do on the big island will bring you to everywhere this tour brings you. Nothing exclusive or special about it.

The Guide makes the tour and Mel was wonderful. Talked a lot about the history of Hawaii as well as the volcanoes. We got to see and experience the impact of multiple volcanoes to the island. Plus the travel arrangements were easy.

Spectacular views! One thing that set this company apart was when we missed our flight and came in an hour late, they sent an Uber (on their dime & never asked for anything from us) to take us to the first stop. We missed almost nothing despite the flight issue. Mel was a great guide & safe driver.

Please do not buy Viator. Once they charged my credit card , THEY CANCELLED THE TOUR THE DAY BEFORE ! AND HAVEN'T REFUND ME YET, they dont answer muy emails, they dont have any other ways yo reach them, this Is not acceptable.

The most memorable part of our experience was honestly our Tour Guide Mel, he was excellent on explaining the history of Hawai’i and the culture. As well as showing us spots we would have never thought to see had we driven ourselves around The Big Island.

An AMAZING experience! We did a LOT more than I expected. If you can, ask for Henry and upgrade to the private tour. Henry is knowledgeable, easy going, and very flexible. We heard some great stories while navigating the island. There were beautiful waterfalls, trees, animals, people…literally everything you could ask for. The volcano literally took my breath away. If you think to, bring a gift for Pele. Something like flowers is nice. Also, bring a towel for the black sand beach and a backpack for all the souvenirs you will pick up at the shops along the way. I definitely will be coming back!

Words nor pictures do this tour justice … first our inter island transfer was so simple - the tour made all the arrangements and it was seamless. Mel was our driver and he was absolutely excellent - he explained everything very well and made sure we all (there was only 8 of us on the tour) we comfortable and safe. The views from the top were simply beautiful … I hate that my pictures don’t do it the justice it deserves. Lunch was great and the little road side place we stopped … that bread is like no other. The stop at the black sand beach was the absolute coolest part for me as I love turtles and I was able to see 4 of them lounging in the sun !!! Did I say perfect ?? Again no words to describe my excitement of this moment!! If I could give this tour and Mel more stars, I absolutely would !!!
