What To Expect

This full-day tour begins with pickup by air-conditioned coach from your Jerusalem hotel.

The first stop is Caesarea, located halfway between Tel Aviv and Haifa. It’s a city that Herod the Great built and dedicated to Caesar Augustus more than 2,000 years ago. This walking tour wanders through the city’s archaeological ruins, excavations and a large Roman theater — a fascinating journey back in time.

Then, it’s on to the port town of Haifa, built in tiers extending from the Mediterranean Sea up the north slope of Mount Carmel. Visit Baha'i Gardens, one of the most popular places in the Middle East. The gardens, forming a staircase of 19 terraces on a mountain slope, include graveled paths, hedges and flower beds that are groomed and nurtured to perfection. Soak up beautiful panoramas of Haifa, the Galilee Hills and the Mediterranean Sea. Below, the gold-domed building is the Shrine of the Báb, the final resting place of the prophet of the Baha'i faith.

From here, travel to the Rosh HaNikra grottoes, off the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Western Galilee. These cavernous tunnels are formed by sea activity against the soft chalk rock. Long ago, the grottoes could only be seen from the sea or by experienced divers, but fortunately for you, a cable car now gives you easy access.

Finally, the tour concludes with a trip to Acre, sometimes called Akko, one of the oldest cities in the world. Spend some time exploring the subterranean city, a complex world of underground tunnels and halls that were built in medieval times and hidden for centuries under the rubble in northern Israel. The remains of this Crusader town lie almost intact, both above and below today's street level.

Before heading back to Jerusalem, walk back through the Old City Market to pick up a souvenir from this fascinating day of discovery.

Awesome experience with an amazing tour guide
LeeLee_H, Sep 2023
Dorit our tour guide made the tour very interesting and explained a lot of amazing history along the way and at the site itself. Made history come alive.
Response from Host, Sep 2023

Quick hops around the northern towns of Tel Aviv
Isaac_W, Apr 2023
This trip is a combination of landscape and history. The northern part has some nice views in Israel. As it's covering 4 sites, each one is a bit short. Also the historical sites are not as exciting as Jerusalem. Having Akko as the last stop is a good choice especially if having a look at the market is allowed.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
I am happy to read you came away with a great tour experience to cherish although the quick hops between the sites.

Fine your, with confusing taxi transfers at start and stop
Philip_L, Oct 2022
It matters that this tour actually loads the buses in Tel Aviv. Expect frustrations with transfers between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thanks for feedback, indeed our pickup system does take time. However chaotic it may seem once on the tour all goes smoothly. Change of vehicles are to do with logistics, language and saving time,
Great tour. Horrific ending
Dan_S, Jul 2022
Guide got off in Tel Aviv and left us alone on bus to Jerusalem. Driver TOTALLY lost and was unsafe.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
It is most disturbing what you post here. the transport system we operate is logistically complex, but the drivers are due to be totally competent. If you write direct to the office we can investigate why the driver was the way you describe. Glad to read most that of the day and guide were to your satisfaction.

I am waiting my refund, waited hours for the tour company and they never showed up. Viator I need my 244usd back
Response from Host, Apr 2022
Dear sir refunds take time This refund is issued by VIator only , not Bein Harim. You must claim from them. Not being collected is frequently due to misinformation..as following Covid routes have changed.

Great tour with Dan Porges. It was very hot and there was a lot of walking and sights to see so some prepared! We got a lot of history, which is what we wanted, and context. Lunch was good and served family style which may not work out for everyone.

Kathryn A F, Nov 2017
I would not recommend booking this tour through Viator. There were problems for all on the tour from the beginning of pick up until we arrived back at our hotel 3 hours late. They were late to pick up at our hotel, but we heard from others on the tour with us that they had been picked up by taxis and transferred multiple times before we actually began the tour. Being in a foreign land, this does not exactly bring a relaxed tone to touring. Our guide Danny was very arrogant and controlling. He spoke to us as if we were doing him some type of favor for being there. Aftr they pick you up, they take you to a convenience mart where touring clients are transferred about for the convenience of the company providing the tour, Ben Harim Ltd. They then informed us that they were over booked. How is that even possible since it is all electronically booked? They wanted to know if anyone on the tour would be willing to take the tour another day. As people on a schedule while traveling no one could do this or wanted to. We proceeded to the first local, Caesarea. This was a great place to see. We were kept on the move, no dilly dallying or time to basically even take pics sometimes. The next stop was The Hospitaliar fortress at Akko. This was interesting, but again, although they had many markets with souveniers, we were only allowed to go in one shop that clearly our guide had an agreement with - no shopping for us. Also, we had to eat at the place Danny selected. They did not have any food I wanted. We went to Haifa to see the Bahai Gardens. We drove up a steep drive to the top of Haifa. You could get out and over look the garden, but not go in. A waste of time. We then went to the caves at Acre. Ok, but not really that great. We headed back and once again, we stopped at the convenience mart on the way home, where the guides moved people around and sent them in whatever way they wanted to get them back to their hotels. One of the ladies was so terrified of being sent in a cab that she was screaming. No worries, this did not bother our guides, they just kept going. I would say no to this tour It was not relaxing or that great.Rent a car or hire your own guide to take you. Did I mention that we arrived back 3 hours late? oh yeah, I did. :

This was a very action packed tour that covered a lot of ground in one day. The pickup procedure in Jerusalem was a bit roundabout -- but other than that , everything was top notch. The tour guide from the local tour company Bein Harim Tours was really excellent. Well worthwhile.

I was told to be at the meeting spot...
Tara Z, Jul 2017
I was told to be at the meeting spot at 5:50 am and wasn't picked up till 6:20am. Then I boarded a bus to Tel Aviv, where I had to get on another bus, this one tiny, and the only seats remaining were at the very back with almost no window. This made for a very uncomfortable trip, and I spent most of the afternoon feeling sick and lightheaded. There were too many sights planned for the day's trip, which gave it a rushed feeling. I also didn't appreciate that I felt pushed to eat at a restaurant and pushed to buy things at a copper studio. Again, the sights themselves were interesting, but too much was planned and the transportation/driving was dreadful. On the way back to Jerusalem, the driver complained to the tour guide, which was a very negative way to end the trip.

Karen M, Mar 2017
Our tour was good but the guide, while a very nice man, was old and tired. too many eeeehhhs and umms. Also he really did not talk about all the things we really wanted to know. In akko we went to a so so restaurant and then they wanted to give us an hour to shop in the one store sanctioned but the company. Everyone was pretty annoyed at that point. We really would have loved a more in depth Akko experience. also a complete waste of time visiting the gate to the Bahai gardens. All in all the day was pretty good, though. We saw lots of interesting things in Caesaria and Acre too. unfortunately the weather was not that good, drizzly and the grottos were not lit up because we had no sun
The northern part of Israel is well...
Joanne G, Jan 2017
The northern part of Israel is well worth seeing, but there were two significant problems with this tour: 1 Despite our itinerary stipulating that we be at the pick-up location at 5:50 AM, the driver did not show up until about 40 minutes later. Additionally, we had to change vehicles in Tel Aviv we originated in Jerusalem both on the way to the north and back 2 Our tour guide presented in both English and Spanish though I had booked only English and it was apparent that she was more comfortable speaking either Hebrew or Spanish than English. The real problem though was her lack of knowledge of the sights. A number of times, she put off questions, saying she would address them later. In Akko, particularly, it was frustrating, as was the omission of the prison and the synagogue from the tour.

This is a very good tour. Rosh Hanikra was an unexpected gem. The bus was excellent and the guide was very knowledgeable. Lunch which is included was very nice. The only negative is that if you are coming from Jerusalem the driver may not speak English and have any idea where to drop you off at.
