What To Expect

Begin your full-day tour with a Jerusalem hotel pickup in an air-conditioned coach.

The first stop is at the Mount of Olives for a scenic overview of the entire city of Jerusalem. This mountain ridge is east of the Old City of Jerusalem and named for the olive groves that once covered its slopes. According to the gospels, a number of important events in the life of Jesus took place here, including where he ascended into heaven. The Mount has been a site of Christian worship since ancient times and continues to be a place of pilgrimage for Eastern Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant believers.

The tour then passes through the Garden of Gethsemane, at the foot of the Mount of Olives. This garden is known as the place where Jesus prayed, and also where his disciples slept, the night before his crucifixion.

Continue into the Old City through the Zion Gate to Jerusalem’s Cardo, the main thoroughfare of Byzantine Jerusalem. In the Jewish Quarter, visit the Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, the holiest of Jewish sites. The wall is about 2,000 years old, its cracks filled with the prayer papers from the thousands of people that visit here.

Further along in the Christian Quarter, walk along the Via Dolorosa, the street that Jesus traveled on the way to his crucifixion. Here, look for the 14 stations of the cross while retracing Jesus’ steps to the Hill of Calvary, at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Also, see the Stone of the Anointing, where Jesus was believed to have been placed before his burial.

Finally, leave the Old City through the Jewish Marketplace and end the tour at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust History Museum in New Jerusalem. Witness the moving displays that document the stories of the Jewish people during World War II.

Please note: The Holocaust History Museum is closed on Fridays, Saturdays and Jewish holidays. On those days, it will be replaced with a visit to Mount Zion and the Church of All Nations, also known as the Basilica of Agony.

Great tour
Onyi_A, Sep 2023
Had to wait a bit for pick up and our tour guide could be more knowledgeable. Other than that, this was a great tour of Jerusalem. Saw the Garden of Gethsemane and went inside the church - very sombre. Went to the Western Wall and prayed at the Wailing Wall. We explored some of the Stations of the Cross. Our tour was on a Friday so this meant that the Holocaust museum was closed so we went to visit Mount. Zion (King David's tomb and hall of the last supper) instead. Lastly, I met many lovely people on this tour.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
It's wonderful to hear that you had a great tour, visiting significant sites. Meeting lovely people is always a bonus on a tour, and we hope you are left with meaningful memories of your time in Jerusalem. We value your input as it helps us improve our services for future guests. Thank you for choosing our tour!
Excelent tour guide
Ashley_J, Sep 2023
To know about everything that happened in the different parts of the tours. The tour guide was so good he explained everything and make us feel so comfortable.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
We're delighted to hear you had a great experience with our knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide. Thank you for your positive feedback!
Good information but needs improvement
adam_s, Jun 2023
Lots of interesting information and sites. A little confusion in the beginning. The guides should have signs so we know who they are at pick up and communicate more about where we are going. We switched buses at the botanical gardens but were not told that is where we were. As a result we didn’t really get to look around. The guide should also do more to connect with the group.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Thank you for providing your feedback on your recent experience. We appreciate your positive comments about the information and sites provided during the tour. We apologize for any confusion you experienced at the beginning of the tour. We understand that clear communication and guidance are important for a seamless experience.
Awesome Tour HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Krish_M, Jun 2023
Amazing tour - guide very clearly explained each part of Jerusalem while still keeping the tour engaging. Extremely knowledgeable and not afraid to answer questions. Able to handle a large group of 30 people. Highly recommend. 10/10.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Wow! Thank you for your awesome review! We're thrilled to hear that you had an amazing tour experience. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we appreciate your perfect rating of 10/10.
Very nice tour
Bruno_T, Jun 2023
The guide was great, the bus was new and clean. Great value. The tourist trap shooping was unnecessary.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your satisfaction with the tour and expressing that it was a great experience. However, we apologize for any perception you had regarding the shopping aspect, which made you feel it was a trap.
Disorganized
Jared_B, May 2023
I’ve done a lot of these kinds of tours around the world and this was one of the most disorganized. Pickup was almost an hour late, and when the driver came he gave no explanation as to what was happening or why everyone on the bus was supposed to be on different tours. Turns out they then had to drive somewhere else and distribute people to different busses. A lot of wasted time. Once your started there was more waiting around between sites than actual touring. Very slow moving with lots of people impatient to move on. Ended up leaving early because it wasn’t worth it to waste so much time sitting around.
Response from Host, May 2023
Regret to read that this was your experience. Not clear why it was delayed. We have numerous complex logistics for our transport and distribution to designated destinations..
Tour guide was great but tour didn’t include New Jerusalem
Lou_C, Apr 2023
Our tour guide Avishay was great, but the new Jerusalem tour was not given to the folks who joined the tour in Jerusalem, only those who started in Tel Aviv. Those of us who started in Jerusalem missed out on the listed itinerary- the Kinesset, Israel museum and more. So for us it was just a tour of Old Jerusalem. Avishay made that part great but the way it is designed, we did not get to see a part of what we were supposed to see. That should be stated..
Response from Host, May 2023
Thanks for mentioning this, however, it is more probable that not seeing the view on the drive by the Knesset and Museum structures, has only been due to traffic and the route taken. Not because of any other reason. Glad that Avishay provided good guiding skills and tour management.
Save your money for a private tour
Gaurav_S, Mar 2023
The guide we had was Jonathan - a very fun guide and very engaging However, half of the tour (holocaust museum) you are on your own (and it’s free entrance anyway)… the first 90 min from pick up are wasted with bus transfers, etc.. one spends 2 hours in the old city which is ok but believe me you can have a much better time and use your money way more efficiently with a private guide. Do it at your pace, see the places you want to etc For the money this tour was a complete waste
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for providing feedback on the tour and your guide, Jonathan. We are delighted to hear that he made your experience enjoyable and engaging. However, we understand that you were not completely satisfied with the tour and felt it was not worth the money. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Perhaps a private tour would be more suitable for you, as it would give you greater control over the pace and itinerary. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences with others, as it can be valuable information for travelers planning their trip.
Not value for money
Nora_Y, Mar 2023
28/3/24Most memorable to tour on foot on the places in Jerusalem I booked this trip to enjoy the idea of being guided whilst in the City, unknown to me there are 27 more tourists on the meet up point. We were not collected from The hotel I asked to be collected and ended up paying extra 40IS to cab driver as we were lost walking. There city was packed and traffic was horrendous following a day before Marathon event. Frank was good and not his fault being busy in the city. We are only x3 in the group We couldn’t enter the Holy Sepulcre because we had to queue individually. And because of this we were bullied by the other tourists to get back in the queue because the 2 of them in queue for the rest of their group- very poor system- guide should have given us a bracelet at least to justify in the group Tired, hungry and frustrated abandoned the idea. Then there are place that already closed -cannot observe or enter Overall the experience can be so individual we are just grateful to be there but not for the price we paid!
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that your tour did not meet your expectations due to the crowded streets and traffic in Jerusalem at the time of your visit. We understand that the crowds at Holy Sepulchre can be overwhelming, and we will review our system to ensure that all members of the group are accommodated. We are glad that you enjoyed the guidance of Frank, and we hope that you will consider traveling with us again in the future for a better experience.
Powerful story of Jerusalem
Beverly_B, Mar 2023
The history of old Jerusalem is amazing and powerful. This trip is a must for those who want to be educated and be aware of the history. Our guide was very learned. He was accommodating and very friendly. I would love to go back and re learn again.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
So happy to read you came away with a great tour experience to cherish. Your sincere recommendation of our services is much appreciated by all at Bein Harim
Great Tour for an Into to the City!
Thomas_M, Mar 2023
Tomer was a fantastic and enthusiastic tour guide! You could see his love for the city and history as he gave the tour. I ran into him the next day after the tour and he further took the time to guide me to the sites that I wanted to see! Great tour!
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for your kind words and positive review! We are thrilled to hear that you had a great day tour with Tomer as your guide. It is always a delight to hear that our guides are giving an extra service, even a day later.
Good, maybe not for Christians
Danielle_W, Feb 2023
Very detailed. I wouldn’t recommend for a Christian personally as I felt those parts were very rushed. For Jewish history and interest I found this tour very good and our guide was very knowledgable. But like I said, as a Christian I did not feel this tour was for me.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Thank you for sharing your review of the tour. It's great to hear that you found the tour to be very informative and that the guide was knowledgeable, especially with regard to Jewish history and interests. However, we apologize if you felt that the Christian parts were rushed and that the tour didn't meet your expectations as a Christian. We strive to provide a comprehensive and engaging tour experience for guests of all faiths, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve and tailor our tours to better meet the needs of all our guests. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future
Amazing! Do it!
Tara_Z, Dec 2022
Superb guide and wonderful experience. I did this tour my first full day in Jerusalem and recommend that to anyone. It gave me an overview and details I wouldn’t have known about if I toured on my own. It helped me appreciate the city and its splendour.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Thanks so much for sharing that you came away enlightened and with a memorable tour experience traveling with one of our professional guides.
Very unorganized in the...
MelissaC, Dec 2022
Very unorganized in the morning, but ended up being good. I wish we had more time at Yad Vashem. Tour guide was good.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Sorry to read that there was not a smooth tour embarkation. Happy to know that the guide was up to a high standard .generally 45mins to 1 hr is allocated to Yad Vashem. A group tour is generally orientation and for further in-depth experience, one needs to spend a whole day there.
Old city Jerusalem
Gabe_P, Oct 2022
The guide was very knowledgeable and had a friendly and professional attitude. The only thing I wasn’t too happy about was the selection of the restaurant we went for lunch. Poor quality and overpriced
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Sorry that the lunch stop was not to your satisfaction. Being on a group tour we have NO option but to stop in an organized way with everyone at the location. We do not allow travelers to wander off on their own (get lost and cause delays).
A Beautiful adventure
Jade_W, Sep 2022
I work for a airline as crew and had been recommended by another crew member to do this tour on my 24 hour layover. It was truly amazing. The guide Daniel was great and had a lot of valuable knowledge and insight to the history and current culture. I learned so much and met some very lovely people on the tour. We were all really looked after, and helped to get back to our hotel’s safely. I look forward to my next layover to do some more.. :) thanks to Danial and the driver
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Wow!Thanks So much for sharing your immense satisfaction with our services and Guide Daniel. He sure is worthy of your praise for his efforts, informative commentary and engaging manner. Look forward to seeing you again soon. There is lots more to explore!
Bad experience
Adrian_H, Sep 2022
They had to come and pick me up at my Hotel The Imbal and they didn't stop by. I had to take a taxi to CityView and I paid $25 I hired a guide in Spanish and after lunch tourists joined and the ITAMAR guide started speaking in English!
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Dear Adrian, We apologize that you missed your pickup. We don't pickup from all the hotels in the city. We sent you a confirmation with the alternative pick up point (4 min walking), but you didn't noticed it. After you contacted the office, I called you back and told you I will refund you the taxi costs, which I did. Some tours are bilingual and it is mentioned on our website.
Disappointed
Rachelle_C, Sep 2022
I was very good, very knowledgeable however it was 95 degrees with 70% humidity he did not have any water for this 10-hour tour.... He did not know how much we would be walking which was very misleading on the description of the tour. My Fitbit however told me we walked 4 miles.... The problem didn't arrive until the very end when we were at the Holocaust museum and he said that he was on his way to tel Aviv and would not be dropping us off, he could either get tabs for us, which he thought would be another hour or so wait or we could take the train at our own expense.... Neither one of those options seem to be the agreed upon return when I booked this tour.... I was going to do something that it was his responsibility to get us that safely to the same location that he picked up he ended up finding this unnamed minivan, the driver didn't speak English and dropped us off at a hotel. The other people on the tour had no idea how to get back to their hotel... My husband and I just walked to our hotel but this just be very very unprofessional, after the tour the guy just didn't seem to care.... I'm not sure why he couldn't have driven us back to our hotels which was probably 20 minutes away... With traveled all over the world with vitator companies have loved everyone of them except this... The other critical issue was the tour started at 8:00 we didn't stop for lunch until 1:30, tired, hungry, and thirsty was not a good combination for 15 foreigners who were not used to this humidity.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Sorry that this was the nature of your experience on this tour. We will certainly investigate. It is common practice, we do release guides occasionally back to Tel Aviv and a separate van arrives to disperse Jerusalem returning passengers. The light rail train option today is a hugely time saving form of transport. We strongly recommend to those willing for the simple reason that crossing the city at traffic peak hour 16:00 can take to certain hotel locations over an hour. It is the cost of 4 dollars Lunch stop usually cannot be earlier as it is schedule related. We understand that the heat issue in August is a major constraint. It is difficult on a group tour to cater for the needs of all travelers in such a situation and all our guides generally know how to manage the schedule accordingly. We are regretful that you felt this was not the case on your tour.
It was alright. Don’t expect too much.
Rebecka_L, Jun 2022
The overall feeling my family and I of 5 adults got from this tour was that it was very disorganized and didn’t give much history. A big group of tourists and us got picked up in the morning, went to a meeting spot, and at this meeting spot we were supposed to get into different busses according to the tour we were going on. When we got to this meeting spot there were people and busses everywhere, no one knew where anyone was supposed to go or which bus we were supposed to get on. 30-40 minutes later a tour guide finally shows up and has a list of ppl on his tour. Throughout the entire tour, he spoke 70-75% Spanish. We did not expect this because when booking on Viator I chose the english option and nowhere did it say it was going to be a dual language tour. This resulted in us english speakers standing around for a lot of the day while the tour guide spoke in Spanish. Hence the feeling that we got that he did not give us much history. Also, If you are looking for this tour to give you biblical references and backstory, look elsewhere. This tour company does not reference the bible and only gives details like the history of the building construction and the excavation. This tour gave us an idea of the old city and My family and I returned to old city and did the whole thing ourselves the next day to get a better feel. Overall, it was ok. Was it worth it? Meh. Would my family have wanted a more inclusive, english speaking, historically backed up tour? Yes. Oh and don’t forget that ALL the tours under this company will have some souvenir shops they make you stop at for 30-40 minutes to try to get you to buy overpriced things.
