Begin with morning pickup from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, then begin the drive to Kinabalu Park, following winding roads into the rugged landscape of the Crocker Range. Enjoy the cooler, high-altitude air as you climb from the coast, and stretch your legs at Nabalu, where Sabah's indigenous people gather to sell farm-fresh fruits and vegetables and handmade souvenirs.
When you reach the national park, take a guided walk on nature trails through Kinabalu Park’s botanical garden—if the weather is clear, you have views that stretch to Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia.
Following your hike, refuel with lunch in the park, then continue to Poring Hot Springs, a complex founded during the Japanese occupation of Borneo during WWII. This tour includes access to the outdoor, Japanese-style pools, or you can rent an indoor tub (own expense). If desired, you have the option to visit the Kinabalu Park Canopy Walkway, a series of bridges that stretch through the treetops 135 feet (41 meters) above ground level. This tour concludes with return transfer to Kota Kinabalu, and drop-off at your hotel.
