We have traveled all over the world, and have recently started a pursuit of the New Seven Wonders of the World, which brought us to Machu Picchu. We booked a 6D/5N tour of Cusco from Lima, and it was the best decision we have ever made.
We were promptly picked up on our first day from the Lima Airport, and taken to a nice hotel in Lima where we spent the night. The hotel included a delicious breakfast, and a view of the Pacific Ocean.
We were picked up on our 2nd day and taken to the Lima Airport, for a domestic flight to Cusco. We were picked up at the airport by our tour guide, Alavaro, who welcomed us warmly. He immediately started giving us information about Cusco, as we traveled to the heart of the city. As soon as we arrived, we were given a welcome by Ingrid which consisted of coca tea, fresh fruits, and cookies. The attention to detail, especially the gesture of a welcome to the country, made this tour above and beyond our expectations. After our welcome, we were taken to our hotel, which was comfortable, clean, and very well-staffed.
On our third day, we took a walking tour of Cusco with Alvaro, that gave us the opportunity to visit historical sites, and local places of interest, including a local market. We walked at a comfortable pace, and Alvaro always pointed out excellent locations for pictures. We were pleasantly surprised when in the middle of our tour, we were greeted by our travel advisors, who presented us with gifts from Peru. Again, the customer service and attention to detail, made this trip superior to others. We had the afternoon for ourselves, which gave us the opportunity to shop at local stores and enjoy a local restaurant.
Our fourth day, consisted of a tour of rural Peru which included a visit to Maras, a traditional/historical town and a neighboring salt mine. We also visited Moray, where the circular terraces were impressive, and had a picnic lunch overlooking the most beautiful view of Peru. This was by far the best part of the trip. The lunch was great, but the view was spectacular. We finished the day by taking a train the Machu Picchu Pueblo Aguas Calientes, where we checked into a hotel with an amazing view of the river.
Our fifth day was spent at Machu Picchu, where our tour guide once again showed us his expertise. The sight was breathtaking, and our tour guide was able to personalize our tour so we could see the things that were important to us. We took an afternoon train back to Cusco, where our driver was patiently waiting to take us back to our hotel in Cusco.
On our final day, our tour guide, Alvaro picked us up promptly from our hotel, and accompanied us to the airport. He waited until we had checked in, dropped off our luggage, and were ready to go through security, before he left, just in case we needed his assistance.
We have traveled all over the world, and this has been the best trip of our lives. The Cultural Immersion Company exemplifies professionalism, superior customer service, and attention to detail. From the booking process, to the tour itself, we were never disappointed. Our tour guide, Alvaro, was excellent, and made us feel more like friends, than tourists, and made our trip memorable.
I would recommend this company, our tour, and our tour guide, with complete confidence. You will not be disappointed.
