Get hands-on experience preparing some of Peru’s most iconic dishes and shopping at a local market during this Lima cooking class. First stop by the market to pick out fresh meat and produce, discovering the incredible diversity of ingredients in Peruvian cuisine. Then head to the kitchen choosing to prepare a choice of fish, chicken, beef or vegetarian dish like ‘Ceviche’ or ‘Lomo Saltado,’ learning the necessary steps in fun, relaxed atmosphere. Highlight of our trip

Our guide, Natalie, was so enthusiastic and fun. We were picked up from our airbnb and were driven to the local market, where we spent about an hour and a half walking around tasting and learning about local fruits. Our chef, Joseph, walked through the market and bought all of the ingredients for our meals. We took a bus back to the office, where we cooked our meals. We got a choice of three appetizers and three entrees. Our group chose ceviche and lomo saltado. It was so interactive and fun. Natalie and Joseph were very knowledgeable about the food and cooking techniques. This was one of the highlights of our trip and I highly recommend it to people interested in Peruvian cooking!

The cooking class was absolutely outstanding and the food we cooked was delicious, thanks to Cesar, Ruth and the amazing staff. The cooking class was absolutely value for money and I could definitely recommend taking this tour. We started the tour with a visit to the local market where we learned about local fruits, vegetables and other food from Cesar. During the cooking class, we made first some traditionally cooked potatoes which were very good in their own right. For the actual starter we made causa and ceviche depending on our choice. The dinner culminated in the main dish which was lomo saltado made from fish. We also got to flame the fish which was very exciting! The food we cooked ended up being the best we had in all Peru thanks to the wonderful advice and preparations by the chef Ruth and the team. We ended up having more food than we could ever possibly eat!

Come hungry! Incredible experience with great food and great guide/chef. Stefano did a fabulous job entertaining us with stories and answering questions about the food we were eating. Our chef David was funny and really made the experience memorable. Our causa limena and lomo saltado were to die for. We were stuffed by the end. There was so much food and everything was delicious!

We really enjoyed the local market tour and the explanation of the various fruits and vegetables. The Chef was friendly and patient you could tell he enjoys what he does. The flow of the tour was perfect from the pick to the drop off and the food was amazing!!!!

What a wonderful experience/activity!!! Our guide César was a great person to tour the market with and he gave us excellent information about all the local food items. The cooking class with Chef Ruth was outstanding!!!! She too explained every detail of our preparations and was an excellent teacher. The cooking and dining areas were clean, light and bright. Absolutely the best experience. We had a small group of 5 and everyone was awesome. Food 5 stars. Experience 5 stars. People in my group 5 stars. Air conditioned van. Beautiful kitchen on the 9th floor overlooking miraflores. Super great staff. I would do this tour again and again.

New techniques, new friends, new experience

Gabby was a great hostess, and her chef was talented. There were 6 of us 'chefs' touring the market and cooking in the kitchen. The market was vast, colorful, and authentic, loved the experience. The fruits were exotic and mostly unknown to me. Very seasonal, as February is their summer for harvesting. We all were sous chefs, following instructions to chop and slice. There were herbals we would not be able to get but there are substitutes, she provided. Plenty of food! The recipes were interesting and we learned a few techniques we'll use at home. The kitchen was open air on the 9th floor of a building, necessary for the flaming of the wok! Wow! We all enjoyed.
