We are sorry the tour didn't match your expectations despite being assigned one of our most reviewed guides (Ceci).
After carefully reviewing and cross-checking your case, it came to our attention that you asked the guide to "rush" the tour as you had a 23:00 flight (the tour ends at 20:30) and both the guide and the couple on the tour with you told you it was too little time. Both the guides and couple agreed to keep things short and simple to help you with your flight. Therefore, we are a bit surprised about the comment on the background information, as it's something that was agreed upon at the start of the tour. The guide was on her phone checking the time and updating – based on your request and due to your flight's departure time – the time of our reservations with vendors, while coordinating the logistics with our Ops team. She also mentions that she made use of her phone to show you some pictures of other plates the group was discussing about. In any case, this helps us to learn to not make any exception in the future and ask guests to just leave the tour when they feel the need.
Regarding the price of the tour, please take into consideration that aside from street vendors, we stop at old taverns/restaurants where we also drink alcohol. We are a legal business that pay taxes and have all workers on payroll with social benefits and conditions above market. Additionally, please note that 26% of your money went directly to Viator. All travelers possess the power to make travel cheaper in the future by booking their activities, hotels and flights directly with the service provider. Taking all of this into account, operating a tour at 40 USD wouldn't be sustainable due to the costs outsiders sometimes don't consider. It would be possible without intermediaries, workers paid at the minimum legal salary and some tax evasion tricks here and there. Like others do.
Finally, the guide showed us that she paid your Uber back to your hotel as it was the only way for you to get back in time for your flight. It would have been nice to see that in your review, too!
