What To Expect

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your central Ljubljana hotel or other meeting point. After a brief introduction with your guide and fellow travelers, settle in to your comfortable minivan and set off for the journey to your first point of interest. Admire the views from your window as you travel into Slovenia’s green hillsides.

First up: Lake Bled, an emerald lake surrounded by dramatic mountains. After a brief stroll, board an apletna (a Slovenian wooden boat) and journey to the tiny island in the center of the lake—Solvenian’s only island. Explore the island as your guide reveals its fascinating and quirky history, while pausing for photos along the way.

After, it’s a quick drive to the Vintgar Gorge, a must see. This stunning canyon is known for its grand walls that rise 330 feet (100 meters) into the sky. Nearby you’ll discover Šum, a beautiful waterfall that drops 85 feet (26 meters). Enjoy lunch on your own (additional expense) before heading to Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest glacial lake. Take advantage of free time to rent a canoe (own expense) or to swim in the lake’s cerulean waters.

Before the tour winds to a close, stop at the town of Škofja Loka, which has a fairytale castle and the oldest bridge in Central Europe. Take some time to explore the quaint town and take some photos as the sun begins to set. You tour ends back at the starting point.

What a great day trip! We saw so much, and our guide, Primus, was so responsive to the group’s needs. It was a rainy day, so he kept a constant eye on the weather so that we could miss the majority of the bad weather. He was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting, but he was also super easy going and able to read when the group wanted more or less guidance or info. The sights were also fabulous. I truly enjoyed everything we saw, but I think Vintgar Gorge was my favorite. Highly recommended!

The tour is wonderfully crafted, the lakes & castle are beautiful, very scenic Its not tiring & our guide Primus is accommodating kind & knowledgeable. We had a great time even when it was raining that day

Great day tour filled with fun at Savica Waterfall, Lake Bled, and the Bled Sastle. Klemen, the driver and tour guide, speaks perfect, easy to understand English. He gave us a good description of the Slovenia history and culture as well as the stories behind each site. We highly recommend this tour and Roundabout Tour in particular.

Vintgar gorge is breathtaking and lake Bled is just incredible to see. Highly recommend this tour. We had Igor as a guide and he was great. Met some great people on the tour and the medieval town we stopped at last was a cool surprise!

Igor guided us safely and timed the visits well in all the spots. Besides, the van was really comfortable and all the instructions were clear before and during the trip. For those who may want a small organized trip and still meet international people, this trip is recommended.

Claudio did a good job leading this day-long small-group tour. He was extremely knowledgeable and freely shared tons of information about Slovenia. He welcomed our questions and conversations. No hesitation in recommending this experience. Anyone booking this trip should know that you are basically hiring a very knowledgeable local driver. You are on your own while touring Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bohinj and Lake Bled. That said, seeing those sites this way is easier and probably cheaper than renting a car and doing it on your own. A couple of things to suggest…(1) The tour operator might consider providing a microphone of some sort for the guide in the van. This is when some of the best conversations happen, and the people in the back seat of the van had trouble hearing at times. (2) At Vintgar Gorge (which is gorgeous) perhaps the guide could meet guests at the gate at the end of their walk. All 6 of us had trouble figuring out which route to take back to the van as it was not clearly marked and there was no one to answer our questions.

Great trip… perfectly paced. Cloudy(not sure of spelling) was a great guide. Safe driver and gave us lots of information about Slovenia in general and specifics about the places we visited. Had a great group of people on the trip with us and that definitely increased our enjoyment. Would highly recommend.

Igor was a wonderful guide who facilitated our needs, even personally escorting us to good restaurants for lunch. I happened to see him the next day on a different tour and he was still helpful and friendly. This is a full day of walking and well worth it.

Borina was an excellent guide, very flexible, patient and accommodating. We saw many sights, the mountain stop to view the village was breathtaking and we had a history lesson along the way. Visited Skofja Lola, Lake Bohinj for a coffee stop, Lake Bled for the Pletna Boat ride to the island, we gave Bled Castle a miss so the group decided to do their own thing. I hired an e-bike for 45 mins whilst others had a swim. Then Vintgar Gorge was the icing on the cake. You must go.

We had an great guide, we were picked up on time, small group, and headed off to Bohinj, whilst it was nice to sit and experience the lake (which was beautiful) there wasn't much to do there and felt it would have been better to stop for less time and head to Bled. Although thats my personal choice ! I loved the time in Bled, I decide to walk around the entire lake to see it from all angles, rather than going on the boat to the island (would have been tight to do both and the castle).Boat wasn't for me as you had to pay for both the trip and all the sights on island, much more expensive then it used to be! Guide gave us all the low down on what to do and how though, and she also took those who wanted to go to the castle up by the bus so we didn't have to climb all the steps, which was really appreciated! We spent about an hour at the castle which was perfect ammount of time to look around (audio guide) and grab a drink with the stunning view! The gorge was also beautiful, but not sure it is now worth the 10 euro entrance fee. This is the perfect way (and only) to do all these activities without a car, and highlight recommend if you want to do all three, next time I would just get the train to Bled though!

Vintgar gorge was amazing as were Lake Bohinj and Lake Bled. Our guide, Miha, was so chill and knowledgable and catered the scheduling of activities to the wants of everyone in our group of 8. This was a great tour, as usual, just wish we had more time at each of the stops but it was a jam packed day, and I am so glad we got to see everything that we had planned!
