What To Expect

Your tour begins at your Ljubljana hotel, where you’ll board a climate-controlled vehicle destined for Potstojna Cave. On arrival here, you’ll board an electric train and embark on a journey through one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions.

Dramatic stalactite formations, limestone curtains, and mysterious passages demand attention and cavernous voids seem to swallow you whole. After the train ride, spend some time exploring the caverns on foot before you proceed to your second stop.

Following a short journey, arrive at Predjama Castle — a mysterious, 800-year-old landmark perched impregnably at the mouth of a hillside cave. Take a guided tour of the unconquerable castle, the largest cave-castle in the world, to see armory and richly furnished rooms, and to learn the legend of Erasmus, the Slovenian rebel associated with the castle.

Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Ljubljana hotel.

Our second of two tours with Matej. We chose to split this tour and the Lake Bled tour into two days over the full day option and loved both tours. Matej was a great tour guide and not only provided us with Slovenian history and background of the destinations, but some insight into Slovenian politics and changes since the Yugoslavian era. Postojna caves are incredible and the train ride within the caves is a neat experience within itself. Predjama castle is really unique and fun to explore.

Great tour and guide Sarah. Really enjoyed Postojna castle. Amazing site and very interesting audio. Felt a little rushed through the castle and had to skip some audio as we were pressed for time. The caves were great also, freezing but well set up with the train etc. definitely recommend this trip

Our guide Ksenija picked the group up from respective hotels and drive a nice, new van to the Castle. Agenda was flipped because of horrible traffic around Ljubljana. Everything worked out great. I really enjoyed the castle and my photos do not do the cave Justice. Bring warm clothes for the cave! It’s about 10C/50F but they have cloaks at the front door for rent. Returned home safe and sound to our hotels.

The trip itself is to see the Caves and Castle and that's it! Could have got a cab. The sights are worth seeing, however our driver didn't really engage with anyone. As this is a tour I was expecting some information as we were going and maybe pointing out some interesting sights. He is quite knowledgeable as when asked questions he is very informative. It's just a shame he didn't do this on the journey. It was basically, get your ticket there and I'll meet you in 2 hours. I met a fellow traveller who had done the morning trip and he even said be prepared.... It was a shame that he didn't interact with us a little more. However, he was on time, got us there and took us back.

Was pretty disappointed by this tour as it was mostly just a transportation service. I booked for my partner and I as we knew we could do both the cave and castle ourselves but decided to spend some more in order to have a guide - hoping for a tour, some extra information and the like. Unfortunately, this wasn't what we expected. The castle was still self-guided and in the cave, we were just dropped off with all the other tourists to do the cave tour. for an extra $50 euro each it wasn't worth it. Ctahc the bus or train!

Two attractions worth seeing!

A nice trip. The pickup was quick and efficient. You get audio guides at both attractions, which takes away from the experience. I wish the guide use the transport/waiting time to explain and talk about the attractions to offset the audio guides a bit. Instead we got really uncomfortable discussions on abortion politics, not really what I'm looking for on a vacation, sorry. I'm very happy I was able to join the tour last minute due to changes in another tour. The operator was very easy to communicate with.

All were fine. Pickup and return on-time. Due to almost suspense of tourism at covid I was alone and all attention was for me like in personal VIP tour. Guide was knowing interlocutor and professional driver. We visited all pleasant places by programs. I'm extra satisfied!

Beautiful places, bad tour

There is no doubt that the attractions on this tour are utterly beautiful. However, it is advertised on my e ticket a hotel pick up and drop off. I was called at the time of the pick up by the company roundabout that our pick up location was different, which was no problem because the pick up location was only a few minutes away. When booking this I had in mind the convenience of my 82 year old grandmother who is in good shape for her age but at the end of the day doesn’t have much in her. So after stairs in the castle and the hour walk that is steep from time to time, the guide told the group that they will only be dropping off at 2 of the 4 pick up locations because it is more convenient for him. He dropped us off on the other side of the city. Also while on the tour of the castle the guide rushed the “small group” of 18 from room to room leaving no time to really experience for oneself this amazing structure and it’s surroundings. Even after the tour was over he left no time to take pictures or buy souvenirs, rushing the people to the toilet and bus. Overall the landmarks are beautiful but the guide allowed no room for the tour to be truly enjoyed.

This was our first tour in Slovenia and with Luka, the tour guide to Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave. It was a very knowledgeable and interesting tour which we both really enjoyed. There was only me and my boyfriend and two other people on this tour so was a lot nicer than having a huge group. We first drove to Predjama Castle and Luka showed us around, explaining the history of the castle and then as we finished earlier than expected we then drove to the cave and caught an earlier tour. The cave is a huge tourist attraction in Slovenia which was evidenced by the restaurants, hotel and souvenir shops dotted around as you walked to the cave. As you walked in your photo was also taken which you could buy at the end for 5 EUR. The tour first starts by boarding a train which took you deep into the cave and lasted around 10 minutes. It was a really cool experience and saved you from walking for about an hour or so. After the train ride finished you would join a huge group of tourists walking through the cave where a guide would stop the group every 15 minutes or so to talk about the cave and its formations. We thought that it was too large a group and got very crowded and would have prefered if only around 30 people were allowed in each tour group - but it is a tourist attraction and they want to make money so what can you do! Nevertheless we found the cave really cool to look at, although it is fairly cold and every so often you would get dripped on from the stalactites so I would recommend wearing a waterproof jacket and/or a hat! The tour finished and we boarded the train back to the start and then met the group and drove back to Ljubljana. It would have been nice to have some time to look around the stores surrounding the cave but that was our only complaint. Once again we enjoyed our trip with Luka from Roundabout!

I joined the tour on 7th Aug but forget the name of the guide. The guide is funny, flexible and informative. The Cave is fantastic. As the tour includes two parts, the time for taking rest in between two parts is too short. On the whole, the trip is good as the guide is very informative and presents in an attractive way.

Really a good tour by Mathew, out guide and driver!! Funny guy with lots of information on almost everything you want to know about here! The cave is awesome and we visited the Predjama castle late in the evening, stay out of the crowd. I really enjoy it! Worth the price definitely, highly recommend.
