A glorious way to spend a day!
Nancy_B, Oct 2023
What a fun ride to and from Pisa! No problem getting there and back, but plan for a couple hours each way. Plus the time in Pisa. The ride was a real highlight of the two week trip, but keep in mind you are on roads, more so on the return route. Bikes were super high quality, but heavy which doesn’t matter much - just a heads up. Do it!
Beautiful Ride to Pisa!
Carolyn_C, Oct 2023
everyone had such a great time. I think it exceeded our expectations. The bikes were well-maintained and the app that guided us on our phones was very easy to use. It was much easier than I anticipated to get the bikes on the train for the return trip. The folks at the tour center were super helpful and tolerated all our questions.
A beautiful ride

Great adventure. Two different ride experiences to and from—both excellent. Self guided nav app worked great.
We biked back to Lucca on...
Barbara_M, Oct 2023
We biked back to Lucca on a short route that went through small villages with views of the mountains in the background. (PS the Viator operator assured us that we could leave our bikes in Pisa, such was not the case.)
Bike ride Lucca to Pisa
Felipe_P, Aug 2023
Staff was very nice and friendly, explained everything to my group carefully and calmly. They also let us stay with the bikes for an additional 1:30hr. The only problem we had to deal with was the bike’s chain. It fell off 4 times during the ride. Besides that, great experience.
Lucca to Pisa by E-bike - simply brilliant!

Don’t hesitate to book and do this self-guided bike tour. Download Komoot before you go and the great young lady at the office will talk you through every step of following your route. Bikes were in great shape, all ready for our heights, we had panniers for water and belongings - honestly it was a glorious ride, there and back. You don’t need to train back, you have plenty of battery to last for hours. Don’t hesitate. We all loved it!
Amazing in the Right Weather
Jill_F, Jun 2023
This is a great activity, but I would not do it again unless it is less than 80 degrees. It was 90 the day we did it and it was very hot, even though we started in the morning. Some of the ride is shaded but much is not. By the time we got to Pisa we were so hot. However, if the weather is right, this is a great activity. The bikes were very nice and most of the ride is idyllic. You need to be somewhat adventurous to do this. Not a serious bike rider but the ride does go on roads with cars at various points.
Adventurous day out. Pizza in Pisa. Cool as!!!
Melinda_P, May 2023
I loved the ride. Along the river with mountains in background was beautiful. Unfortunately the directions to the track were sometimes misleading due to odstacles obstructing the trail. My husbands bike seat and crank and phone holder were all needing maintenance which made it hard for him to contrentrate of navigating. Also allow ar least 4 to 5 hours to really enjoy the scenery to stop for photos unless your an expert mountainbike rider. I ride 12kms a day on a normal bike which takes about 50 mins. The 33kms took us 4 hrs very little stops except for trying to follow directions and we were using ebikes. But ovelook the negatives , it was a wonderful ride ending at an amazing building, eating pizza in Pisa. How cool is that!!!!

Dear Melinda, thanks for your review and I'm happy you really enjoyed the tour. I'm sorry you had problems with the crank making a little noise, that's is not maintenance but those kind of noise that come once in a while and you can not predict them, like a flat tire. Now the bicycle work perfectly.. You did not report to us problems to the seat or silicone phone holder (what problem could have a silicone phone holder?) and everything seems work perfectly. thanks, Andrea
Family e-biking from Lucca to Pisa
Nicki_G, Apr 2023
The bikes worked very well, easy to use and great battery life. This made the 60km round trip very doable. The cycle paths through the countryside were stunning and the winding through the village streets fun too. The navigation app worked wonderfully on the way out, with easy to follow wiggles that brought us out right at the leaning tower in Pisa and we followed our noses on the way back, past a very Italian lunch stop. Taking the train back was never an option for us, we were having way too much fun on the bikes. A great way to see the area and very well priced.

Thank you Nicki, I'm happy you did and enjoyed booth way there and way back by bike!
Lucca to Pisa
Michael_S, Apr 2023
Route was okay but nothing special and for the most part riding through neighborhoods, or farm land.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
I had requested the removal of this review but the tripadvisor staff is in favor of a false freedom of expression even when incorrect and misleading information is written for successful customers. So I have to clarify that as described, our itinerary from Lucca to Pisa in nature is mostly on a white and dirt road along the Serchio river, very far from cars and houses, in nature. Then you leave the river to reach San Giuliano Terme, a small village, because we want to give you the opportunity to rest and perhaps have something to drink or eat. I have worked in cycle tourism for many years and it is always advisable to include stopping points in tourist itineraries. Then you enter for a few kilometers on country roads and finally along an ancient aqueduct on a white road, away from cars and houses, up to Pisa, no other "neighborhood" along the way. Obviously you enter Pisa, so there are houses along the streets. But maybe our path hasn't even been followed, who knows?
Not for unfit 60 year olds!
Laura_G, Sep 2022
More than intermediate. Rugged terrains. Took us 4 hours! Some of it was quite pleasant though. Thankful for battery powered assistance!
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Dear Laura, thanks for your review. I'm happy you enjoyed the e-bike help. But I have to specify that the classification of the tours is based on numbers, such as distance, not on personal opinion, otherwise people cannot have references by which to judge what is very easy for me and for someone else it is very difficult, without knowing us. The tour Lucca to Pisa is 33km (20 miles) one way, completely flat, as written in the description. Therefore the classification in cycle tourism is between easy and intermediate. If you also come back by bike it's full intermediate. The tour is on paved country roads and bike paths along the river and local channels, all classified as cycle paths, for standard bikes. With an electric bicycle everything is even easier. We had people much older than you and the average time Lucca-Pisa is 2-3 hours. I wanted to specify all this information that is already in the description to give references to people.
This was a great day...
Terri_A, Apr 2022
This was a great day The bikes had great batteries The bikes were very nice Came with locks The app you download gives you the map Trail is mostly flat Trail is smooth to bumpy gravel Sometimes a bike path Sometimes on the street Sometimes a path in a field 45 miles, round trip… little saddle sore You can pay and take train back if you choose The bikes went 26 kph but you have to pedal. They don’t just go on their own. Electric assist Great fun day
Response from Host, Apr 2022
Thank you very much Terri, it was our pleasure.
Recommend to everyone!!!
steven_g, Mar 2022
I was a bit nervous booking this tour... But don't be!!! This is an awesome opportunity to break loose from the crowds, cycle at your own pace / with your group and really take the landscape in! You cycle past gorgeous places! And the map / route they created for you is perfect! The e-bike is good, so even if you're in abysmal physical state (like me) you'll still have a great time! My tip: bring an extra battery for your mobile, a picnic basket, and start early! So that you can take your.time and have a gelato along the way!
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Dear Steven, thanks for your beautiful review. I also agree with your tips, people can stop where they prefer for a picnic or buy food in San Giuliano Terme at the grocery along the way. For the battery, if they are two people or more I usually suggest to download the itinerary on different cellphones in case the main one ends the battery. But normally it doesnt happens if you come with a full battery. a presto
Balade sympa
Catherine_M, Jun 2022
