Perfect way to learn about Emilia Reggio from a local
Candice_M, Dec 2023
The tour was absolutely beautiful! It was just me and my mother because it is low season so we were so pleased having Alessandro all to ourselves listening to stories of the land, producers, Italian life. Would highly recommend this to everyone! Felt like you were in your local friend’s car as he explained about his passionate town.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Thanks to you and your mum! You were exceptional guests and I loved showing you my hometown and its products!
Parmesan factory tour
Lois_V, Nov 2023
This was a lovely tour with Alessandro. He was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and interesting. The parmesan cheese factory tour was fascinating! We had an amazing day!
Good, but pricey experience
Christine_C, Nov 2023
Alessandro was friendly, personable and really informative at all three stops we went to - a mid -size Parmigiana producer, a family owned salami producer, and a balsamic vinegar producer. The family owned businesses were special and not things you would likely have access to on your own. The reason I gave this 4 and not 5 stars is because I don't think this is a very good value for what it is, it felt overpriced.
Fantastic Day with Lisa, an Amazing Guide!
Tamela_S, Oct 2023
We are so happy that we booked this tour! Our guide, Lisa, was amazing and gave us such a personalized experience. She picked us up from the train station in Reggio Emilia and we first toured a dairy to see how Parmigiano Reggiano is made - and taste cheeses of various ages. Then we were off to see how Aceto Balsamic Tradizionale is made - the custard with the aged balsamic was fantastic! We had added on the wine tasting and were able to see a family winery and taste some fantastic Lambrusco and local wines. We ended our day at a small, gorgeous Osteria in Bibbiano that we never would have found on our own and had a fantastic traditional local lunch. Lisa answered all of our questions, was so friendly and kind, and we were able to purchase cheese and balsamic (in 100 ml bottles) to take home to the US with us. We have a greater appreciation of all of these products and the hard work and pride that goes into their production. We will be talking about this tour and our experience for a long time - I can't recommend it enough!
Wonderful Experience!

You really get to see, learn & taste the best products of Emilia Romagna. And Alessandro (tour guide) made it even better - knowledgeable, fun, fluent in English. Definitely worth it!
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Gracias Gustavo! You and your wife made the tour as well, thanks to your passion and kindness!
Can’t recommend enough!
Justin_B, Jul 2023
Alessandro was a knowledgeable and gracious host! His communication with us well before our trip made us confident and excited in the experience. We were delayed in our arrival by an accident on the highway and he did a great job in helping us make the most of the day. Very kind and accommodating. The unexpected highlight for us was the balsamic vinegar tour! It’s an incredible craft. The whole thing was worth every penny. Unforgettable experience!
Iconic Regional Food Experience
Amanda_C, Jun 2023
We loved this tour, we learned a lot about the meticulous process to make certified Parmigiano and balsamic vinegar - even better we got to taste the different ages of each product! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thank you Amanda and Evan for your review! I had a great time too, showing the around of Reggio Emilia and its delicious farm-to-fork products!
Experience the true Reggio-Emilio with Alessandro!
Heather_M, Jun 2023
My husband and I love to travel, especially to lesser know areas - off the beaten track. We could not have found a better guide to introduce us the Balsamic Vinegar and Parmigiana Reggiano production than Alessandro. He toured us through the back roads of his home town, Reggio-Emilia, shared stories of the region and was incredibly knowledgeable (and passionate) about the local products and their production processes that date back centuries. He had great relationships with the local producers and was a pleasure to spend the morning with. It was our last day and a bank holiday so we did not add on another tasting. We left with our hearts full and taste buds satisfied. We are looking forward to returning to this region of Italy. Thank you Alessandro!! - Heather & Nick
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thank you Heather and Nick! We had such an amazing and lovely time together. It's a real pleasure when I host guests thta share the same values and vision about travelling! I hope to see you again in Emilia-Romagna or in California!
Amazing tour of Emilia Romagna food products!
Megan_M, May 2023
We had the most amazing time in Reggio Emilio! We toured a local parmigiano reggiano factory, a family-run salumeria (we had the option of visiting a salumeria or a winery, and we decided we wanted to taste local salami), and a balsamic vinegar producer. We got to taste several delicious local products. We were staying in Bologna, and Reggio Emilia was a quick train ride away (plus we got to see some of the beautiful countryside during the train ride). And Alessandro was an amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable guide! Grazie mille, Alessandro!
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thank you Megan! It was a real pleasure and fun to show you around Reggio Emilia and our delicious local products. Good luck with your future life project!
Excellent tour
DIANA_S, May 2023
Alessandro was a very passionate tour guide and very knowledgeable about the Emilia Romagna area. Knew all the history and places of importance and was a wealth of information. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Parmeggiano Reggiano and acetaia balsamic.
Response from Host, May 2023
Thanks to Diana and Robert for taking part in this tour. You are such a nice and passionate person about Italian culture and tradition. I hope to meet you again here in Italy or in Australia!
Amazing tour from a local’s perspective
Levi_D, May 2023
Let me start off by saying that this guide absolutely blow away my expectations. It was really amazing to dive deep into the local food, scene, and production of some of the most popular exports from Italy, coming from a local who is was born and raised in the region. Alessandro was an amazing tour guide, and gave a really amazing insight from small family run producers that outsiders, and tourists would never be able to see without him. Being a major foodie myself, I thought I knew everything about this kind of stuff, but Alessandro is super knowledgeable about the cheese, making process and was able to share insights and knowledge that I would’ve never known otherwise. After the factory tour, we got to taste different kinds of Parmesan from the factory itself, and the nice woman there even threw in a freebie of fresh made ricotta with alpine strawberry jam that was out of this world! I have never had cheese so fresh before! Besides just the topics of the tour, we had great conversations about local cuisine, and he provided me with spectacular recommendations for the rest of my Italy trip, which were some of the best restaurants and places I had experienced on the trip. I’ll give this tour a 10 out of 10, and recommend it to any major foodie that wants to dive deep into the emilla romagana scene of food, culture, and history. Thank you so much Alessandro for making this the highlight of my trip! I will definitely be reaching out to him next time I’m in Italy.
Response from Host, May 2023
Please let me give a round of applause for this beautiful family from sunny California! Levi, Carley and Stephanie were fabulous and passionate about local products and their making process! Offering tours for people like them makes you aware of the beauty of this project, creating connections around the world by sharing the same values and interests in food, culture and environment. Looking forward to hosting them again and planning together some other great Italian adventures together.
10/10 highly recommend
Alyssa_P, Apr 2023
We loved our tour with Alessandro. He was insightful and charismatic. He shared a lot of knowledge and was passionate about the specialties of the region. The tour through the Parmigiana Reggiano production facility was very cool and definitely worth the early morning. All of the guides at the various locations were also very knowledgeable and kind. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more non-traditional tour of the region's food and drink.
Response from Host, May 2023
Thanks, Alyssa to you and your friends! I had a very good time and fun! I hope you've enjoyed the tour as I did. Now you can share the knowledge that you've learned during the tour and use it for your studies! Good luck and enjoy the rest of your time in Italy!
Great Tour, fun day - highly recommend!
Catherine_H, Apr 2023
Alessandro was very accommodating, meeting us at the train station and having room for our luggage. We had several communications before our tour date and worked all this out. All prior communications were great. The tour itself was very informative and it was a pleasure to spend the morning with Alessandro. You can tell he is proud of his region and wants to share it with visitors. We saw parmigiano, salami and balsamic vinegar being made at 3 family run businesses. You could tell Alessandro has a good relationship all these families. All in all, it was a great day and we appreciate the care and thoroughness of Alessandro on this tour
Response from Host, May 2023
Thank you, Cathrine and Michael! I had a great time and fun with you two! It is always nice sharing your knowledge with such passionate people! Have safe journey back home!
Amazing experience!
Michael_S, Mar 2023
We traveled to Rome and Florence. We took in all the tours that most people recommend and we were delighted with our experiences. But Emilia Flavors far exceed our expectations, Alessandro was an amazing guide. He offered history of the country side areas we visited and drove through. He brought us to three family owed businesses each as amazing as the next. I cannot recommend and thank Alessandro enough for his thoughtful and kind hospitality.
Response from Host, May 2023
Thanks to Michael and his beautiful family! I had a very quality time together! Hope to see you again soon in Italy! Cheers!
Wonderful personalized tour of local producers!
Chelsea_M, Nov 2022
Alessandro's tour is a delight. We visited medium and small producers in the area in very small groups or with no one else there (midweek tour) and we got to learn all about the products, meet the producers, taste everything, and all with the guidance of Alessandro (in perfect English) with lots of knowledge about each stop. We only regretted our travel schedule and luggage restrictions did not allow us to purchase more of the perishable items, but if you have a way to easily transport purchases, I highly recommend this tour! It is a little off the beaten path but highly accessible - Alessandro picked us up at the train station that is easily reached from Bologna or Parma and dropped us off there, too. Alessandro is easy going and knowledgeable and puts visitors at ease. I highly recommend this tour!
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Thanks Diana for your very kind and authentic review! I very much appreciated the quality time with you and your travel mates! Looking forward to seeing you again in Emilia to have more local products.
Great food tour
dgoble39, Sep 2022
Alessandro’s tour was awesome. His communication before the tour was excellent. We first went to the Parmigiano Reggiono factory, followed by coffee, then we talked to an acieto master about how Balsalmic vinegar is produced. Finally, we visited a local Lambrusco winery.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Thanks, Diana, it was really nice to show you the arounds of Reggio. You and Mike have been very much interested in our local products and it was very nice to have a conversation about it. Good luck with your trip!
