Comfortable city tour

Nice overview of city without the stress of driving. To save time, ask in advance ( possibly no celll service if american network)exactly where the bus stops, as all stops are not easily identified. The bus does not always stop directly in front of the tourist attraction.
Not really what I was expecting

Not really a true hop on hop off tour like others I have done in London and Paris. It’s more like a city bus tour. It wasn’t made clear by Viator that tickets had to be exchanged for wristbands in the main tour office, so that wasted some time. Once we were on the bus, there was no warning before stops and stops were very short. So, since we were sitting on top there was no time to come down if you wanted to “hop off.” Stops were also not marked and many reviews state it was confusing where to find the bus. The tour was okay, not a whole lot of interesting facts or history from the guide, also the jokes were not funny. I don’t really recommend this as a way to get around Montreal but if you just want to sit on the bus and see everything in about 2 hours, this might suit you.

This hop on hop-on-hop-off bus tour is great in theory, but it was a bit confusing in practice. You definitely need the full 2 days to take advantage. It takes a long time for pick-ups between stops, so it would be a struggle to plan anything else between stops. There are multiple buses. One was great, newer with a fantastic sound system so the tour quality was good. One was older so it was very hard to hear the tour and the commentary about where you were. It was also very busy so you couldn't always get on the first bus that stopped, which is tricky with so much time in between pickups. Definitely do your research before doing this in order to make the most of your time.
Best opportunity for an overview of any city

Hopon/Hopoff is an excellent opportunity to capture an overall view of any large city. We have used it multiple times to plan day visits to historic or interesting sites. This experience provided that with two exceptions. First, there were no signs identifying the dropoff/pickup point. This would aid in singling out the location to return to or meet at. Second, At one destination, the road to the Oratory was closed with no identifying alternatives, signs or guides to direct us to an alternative entrance. As a result, we waited for a pickup bus that was significantly delayed due to road construction & traffic congestion. The guide on the second pickup bus pointed out an alternative route which, by then, was too late in our itinerary. All guides should be aware of alternative entry points to a tour if some are blocked or under construction. This would have made our excursion complete for the list of sites to see.
Waste of time and money

We were unable to find the stops. They were not labeled and were so broad in description that we didn't want to wait for 30 minutes +/- only to find out we were in the wrong place. Even though we walked around the city for 2 days we did not see the buses on the streets. We were so disappointed with the experience in Montreal that we canceled the hop on/hop off in Quebec City.

Busses were always late or did not come at all. English spoken by the tour guide was horrible. Will not choose nor recommend a Hop-on Hop-off again in Montreal.

The bus was just okay. I expected the guides to give us more information about the specific points of interest where the bus stopped. Neither of the guides did that. They provided general information about the Montréal area.

We went on a tour on Wednesday 18th with Francois and Dominic which was great. Francois knew the city and made it interesting and informative, Well worth it. Did the 2nd tour today which was the opposite. Got on the bus at 14.30 in Dorchester Square and the guide didn't point out many historical spots or give a history of them. Spoke alot about himself and very little about what we were seeing, didn't even mention that at Crescent if we looked left we could see the Leonard Cohen mural. Full marks to Francois nil points today.
A Two-Day, Great Way to See Montreal

The staff driving the Montreal Hop-On Hop-Off busses were very proficient, and the guides were very informative and entertaining. The tour covers a broad territory in & around Montreal, including Mt. Royal Parc, which was a great stop to visit. My only complaint was our first bus, which had a strong fuel odor, but the other busses we were on were fine. The trips run every half hour from the street where the Gray Line ticket office is located. It would have helped to know this prior to starting the tour, but we figured it out on our own. The local office is very good about answering the phone and handling questions. I recommend this two-day tour.

This was a great way to see the entire Montréal area. It was very cold and windy and the only available seats were on the top-so it was rather uncomfortable. We were on the old bus where you can not hear the tour guide, so that added to unpleasant experience. Obviously the tour company can not control the weather. At one point we transferred to the new bus and it was a totally different experience. Bottom line-if you ride the new bus it’s a great experience, if you ride the old bus it can be not do good.

The email stated you could just hop on at any stop which is not true. You have to go to their office first and get an assigned time to get on the bus. There were no signs throughout the city showing where the stops were. The only way to know is if you had road the tour in its entirety and made a mental note of each stop area. The tour guide was great, very entertaining, and informative.

We had a great time on the hop on hop off tour. Love the have that your ticket is good for two days. First day we stayed on the bus for the whole circuit. Next day we plan to go to a few stops that piqued our interest. Tour guide Dominic and driver Nick were wonderful!

Get off the bus down at the docks/harbour and go for a beer or meal in the old town. Its great ! The guides are very knowledgeable too.
Quick way to get a feel for city layout

First bus was very old. Took a later bus that was nearly new. Huge difference. Tour narrators were knowledgeable and entertaining. Audio quality was barely average. Pick up signage was poor. Overall, good not exceptional.

Some of the tour guides we really good. There was one of two that were very dry and hard to under stand. Busses were always full we had almost two full days downstairs on the inside of the bus. The schedule was limited hours and we had to wait over an hour in the mornings because the first two buses were always full. For the price of this experience I feel I would never do it again. Old filthy buses.
