This was honestly one of the worst tours I've taken in a while and definitely wouldn't recommend if you're visiting Montreal with limited time.
First off, we were delayed and sitting in the bus for 30 minutes to "warm up the engine." Granted, it was snowing that day, but also given that they knew we were coming, this felt like something that could've been handled earlier. While we were waiting, the bus driver decided to come over and talk to everyone. That would have been fine if he had just asked us normal questions, but my group is a group of 5 Asian guys and when we proceeded to tell him that we came from California, he pestered us with "No, but where are you really from?" After which we responded that our parents immigrated from other countries, he tried to say the most simplistic words in those languages, didn't pronounce them correctly, and then told us that we were the ones who didn't understand the language. Okay...
Finally, on the road after 30 minutes and the tour was, just passable. The actual tour guide was fine. Nothing exceptional and his jokes weren't great. When it's a "tough crowd" from a 75% capacity bus at least 5-6 times throughout the tour, then maybe there's something missing.
The tour itself was fine. We passed by a few attractions but most of it was merely a pass by on bus. The worst part of the tour was our bus getting stuck in traffic, having the tour guide hand the mic over to the driver, and having him rant for 20 minutes about how to not use the card readers in restaurants to tip because it adds 15% on top of tax instead of asking the server to add it manually. It was a lot.
The final stop on the tour was supposed to be a view of Montreal from Mount Royal, but in all honesty, it was really underwhelming. It was a viewpoint from the east side, so although you got to see the Olympic Stadium, there was no view of downtown at all. There is a much better viewpoint that's a free hike with a skyline view. The final straw for us, however, was that as we were exiting the bus for this viewpoint, the bus driver looked at one of our friends and muttered a random Japanese brand to him. There was no conversation, no indication...just if to make it even more apparent that we were different because at no point did he say anything else to the non-ethnic people on the bus. It was like something straight out of a Scary Movie and just so unnecessary.
Besides the bus not completely breaking down, this tour was honestly just a waste of time. We waited, felt called out, sat in traffic, and got a few minute glimpses of some attractions. Honestly, take the money and get a rideshare to these attractions instead...
