What To Expect

Your tour begins through Monument Valley's natural attractions.

With your guide, make your first stop at John Ford's Point, where some of John Wayne's western movies were filmed, as well as 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.' Then head into the backcountry area of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park to see the Sun's Eye Arch. Standing here at a specific degree, you can look into the rock arch to find out how it got its name. Also at this location, check out petroglyphs from the Anasazi people and listen to stories from your guide.

Then continue to the Big Hogan, another natural feature that's a favorite photo op site, before stopping at your last backcountry attraction, the Ear of the Wind, the largest arch in the park.

Next, head to the Totem Pole for more photo ops and to hear about their cultural histories, and then visit the North Window, where you can admire the Mitten Butte from a different perspective. Your tour then ends with return to your departure point.

Please note: Guides are locals who have been praised for their storytelling skills and are first aid- and CPR-certified. Water is available but it's recommended that you bring your own snacks and other necessities.

Tour guide, John, was great. We loved learning more about the local culture. We had difficulty finding the starting point. I copied the meeting point link and pasted into Google maps. It took us to a very different location. There was no cell phone coverage so we couldn’t call to find out what we had done wrong Strongly recommend people to enter the View Hotel into Google maps and not the link given by Viator
Great guide!

Our guide, John, was awesome! He was knowledgeable and full of interesting information and stories. He also took great photos of us positioned in perfect spots.
A great ride!

Harry was a wonderful storyteller! We enjoyed our trip and he made it both fun and interesting. The 4x4 was comfortable and we had a lot of flexibility in how long we spend when we stopped for photos and to explore. A great afternoon!

Being out in the open air without a restricted view. Our guide was great. So informative and helpful. He was a master at helping us get the right pictures and even how to work our phones to improve on the quality of pictures. So glad we chose a guided tour. Would do it again.
Mysterious , eye opening , and unforgettable

The whole visual experience of Monument valley, soaking in centuries of history makes you feel so small. The Red Rock formations rising high into the sky just add to the mystery of the whole place. ❤️
Yep, do it - wonderful way to get immersed in Monument Valley

Joe was a great tour guide and having done this over 30 years now, his stories and friendly discussions were excellent and filled the entire tour well. He also pointed out good photo sites and his mastery of the iPhone photo app is impressive. However - understand that this is a hurry up and wait operation. We arrived at the meetup area which is in the parking lot, just down a set of stairs from the main entrance of the hotel. We arrived at 8:45am as indicated, but then proceeded to wait for another 20-25 minutes. We also were in an open 4x4, so it was very windy and cold given that this is early April. So just make sure to bring layers depending on the time of year you take the tour. There is no way you would get even a tenth of the understanding of this beautiful region if you did the 17 mile self-drive. Skip the self-drive and spend the money on a tour. Highly recommend.
Don’t miss this
Robin_M, Apr 2024
Fantastic our guide Von was amazing we learned so much. The icing on the cake was her playing flute for us. I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour, great value
YUXIN_Z, Apr 2024
Great tour great value! We went on a very windy day, the guide was helpful and provided us masks. The road was VERY bumpy so I highly recommend booking a tour so we don’t need to drive and risk our rental car. Friendly reminder to check out the time zone difference between Navajo Nation and the rest of Arizona/Utah, cuz it can get tricky especially with Daylight Saving and we almost missed the tour for this reason
Awe-inspiring

Very knowledgeable guide, who shared aspects of the Dine (Navajo) culture, history, and challenges. Seeing the valley and it’s truly monumental scenery.

The tour was the incredible, Joe was an amazing tour guide, so knowledgeable and informative. He showed us how to get the best pics and even took many photos for us making sure we could get our whole family in the shot. We would definitely book again. You will not be disappointed with Joe and Dineh Bekeyah Tours.
Beauty, Culture and Peacefulness

This was a last minute booking that turned out to be an incredible experience. It was perfect for us because they are pet friendly. Our tour guide was John, local native who took us on a journey throughout the park. He was charming, funny, and knowledge about his native culture. We made several stops but at Eagle Eye, we took pictures and he played his flute. I regret not saying it was my birthday after he asked. I’m sure he would have played something lovely. That was a nice detail and we appreciated that. If we could do this tour again, we would do it in a heartbeat. The price was well worth it. Until we meet again.
Incredible experience!

We absolutely LOVED our guide, Lee. He was such a sweet man, had tons of knowledge and was just a joy to be around. He’s an amazing photographer as well. We had the best time - only wish I’d booked a longer trip. 10/10!
A must see and experienced

Wonderful day in Monument Valley
Timothy_H, Mar 2024
Obviously, the scenery was fantastic. We got lucky on the weather and had a beautiful day. But, for me the best part was our guide, John. Being a Navajo, he was able to share a lot about the culture and background of this fantastic area. He taught our group a lot about the Navajo history and culture while weaving all of this into the things that we were seeing on the tour. This was an awesome experience, and I totally recommend it.
Unforgettable

Harry was a great guide. He took us to some amazing places. He gave us some insight on life on the Reservation. I recommend him.
Monument Valley magic!
Scott_G, Feb 2024
The scenery in the valley was incredible and John gave a fantastic account on a variety of matters - the geology, the people, their traditions and beliefs and even played his flute for us. He definitely gave life to the valley during our time with him.
Authentic and Engaging!
