Best view of the Germany
Anastasiia_P, May 2024
Beautiful scenery and successful timing! We had super nice weather, so the view from the top was stunning! Our guide Sven was very helpful and told us a lot about mountain, Alps, Germany and its heritage
Fabulous Day Out
Penny_R, May 2024
What a wonderful trip. Three different modes of transport to get us up and down the mountain, glorious views from all directions and an excellent guide, Sven. The weather kept changing and at one point it snowed a little to add to the glorious snow that had fallen the day before. A not to miss trip !
Rudest tour guide ever

As directed by the customer support request to have a front seat due to motion sickness, we arrived very early and negotiated with the driver to put our belongings in the bus early and on the front seat (on the passenger side). We then alighted the bus and waited in the queue for our tour. We were second in line. We waited for the tour guide to arrive and proceeded to board the bus. He had put his coat and bag on top of ours, so the driver put the coat in the rack above. The first people in the queue had chosen the other front seat behind the driver. When the tour guide got on the bus, he started yelling at us in front of everyone on the bus, saying that we could not sit there and that it is his seat and his stuff was on the seat first. The driver did not clarify the situation and it was terribly embarrassing. I asked about my motion sickness and he said he didn’t care. My partner was upset and followed the guide off the bus to try and explain what had happened. The tour guide would have none of this and even said he would not proceed with the tour if we didn’t move. He eventually sat in the provided jump seat at the front and said at the top of his voice that I had better not vomit on him. At this point I was very distressed and could not enjoy the day. He threw the maps of Zugspitze at us. To make the experience worse, he then proceeded to use his vape all the way in the bus and the driver was constantly on his phone and texting.
Excellent

Trip to Germany's highest peak
Garry_H, Oct 2023
The trip to Zugspitze from Munich was through some beautiful Bavarian countryside which made the bus ride pass quickly. It was a beautiful sunny day. The tour guide Elizabeth was very knowledgeable and well organized and kept the tour running on time. She knew how everything operated and gave us valuable tips to get the best out of the day. The cable car ride was breathtaking and then the view from the top was also. There was plenty of food options on top. The day was mild so no need to rug up. We travelled back down on the cog railway and our driver Benau got us back to Munich in good time through some heavy traffic.
A FAKE company, do NOT book!
Jillian_S, Sep 2023
Do NOT book with this company, it’s fake. The van was not at the location and when I asked the nearby Gray line tour for a refund, they said “there’s nothing we can do.” Waste of $130. E-mailed Viator for a refund as well and they told me I would not get a refund.
Beautiful and picturesque!

Beautiful scenery on well organized trip
Dorene_V, Sep 2023
Tour was very well organized from the start. Elisabeth explained in details several times what to expect , when we were meeting somewhere, recommended what to do on our own time and historical information all during the trip. Scenery was amazing and a great trip overall.
Spectacular day at the top of Bavaria
David_M, Sep 2023
Fun and stress free tour. Our guide Sven, greeted us at the embarkation point. Comfortable modern clean tour buss. Enjoyed spectacular views as we travel lever up the cable to the summit. Grabbed beer and cheesecake on top. Plenty of free time to explore. Relaxing cog rail back to the base. Great tour.
A must-see spot but with another tour operator
Tugce_Z, Sep 2023
A must-see spot in Munich but with another tour operator if you have the chance. The tour guide was arrogant towards the tour participants in general accompanied by belittling replies to questions such as how to get to place XYZ, etc. Already being purchased another tour (Castles Lindenhof & Neuschweinstein) from the same tour operator unfortunately before this experience, I must say that the competency and willingness to provide the service for the price was very low as the second tour guide partly didn´t know/informed us about some highlights (the water fountain to be observed in every half an hour, the additional houses near Lindenhof Castle such as Moroccan House, etc.) and partly misinformed the participants about the history, reasonings of events, etc. At the end of both tours, we have been asked for tip which I haven´t experienced with other tour operators I booked via Viator.
Great tour!

Great day trip from Munich
David_O, Jun 2023
Great day trip from Munich. About 1.5 hour drive through scenic countryside. Take the cable car to top of Zugspitze where there are restaurants and multiple viewing platforms, then go down another cable car to the glacier, and finally ride down the cog railway to the base of the mountain. Our guide Elisabeth was excellent!
Beautiful day but disorganized
Aimee_K, Jun 2023
Our guide Arnaud was a bit salty when he arrived and he looked a bit unkempt. The driver and bus were late. Aside from one person, we were the first to arrive. Tour-goers who arrived at the last minute were pushy and forced their way onto the bus ahead of us. Scanning the vouchers was not working. There was a lack of organization. Our guide was clearly frustrated. It also seems like a sketchy meeting point in front of a vacant store front with people begging for money. It's not ideal. Once we were underway it got better. Ascending to the top of the Zugspitze is absolutely fantastic. However, it was unnecessary for our guide to take us all the way to the top only to immediately bring us part way down on another cable car to explain how to catch the cogwheel train to the bottom at the end of our day. He could have just explained all of that on the ride out of Munich. It was a waste of precious time and we felt like we were being treated like children. We ended up staying at the zugspitzplatt for a while (300 meters below the summit). We sat outside and had coffee and cheesecake and took pictures. We eventually made our way to the top and it was spectacular. We had a mixture of clouds and sun so we weren't able to see everything but when it did clear we had awesome views. We walked to the Austrian side (stamp your own passport) and took in the views from there. We recommend dressing in layers and to bring a warm jacket because it's a bit chilly at the top. We were fully prepared. I was glad I brought a hat a gloves. We were able to watch a helicopter rescue some hikers and took our time going to all the viewing areas. We went back to the zugspitzplatt and had lunch at the Gletschergarten. Service was lovely. Sitting outside very enjoyable. I had the most beautiful chicken salad I've ever seen. It was as delicious as it was pretty. My husband had spicy pasta which he liked very much. The cogwheel train down is a marvel, going through what seems like miles of tunnels. The bus ride back to Munich was uneventful. We enjoyed ourselves but if we were to go to the Zugspitze again, we'd use a different tour company.
A visit to the Zugspitze made it worth it.
Elizabeth_W, Jun 2023
It wasn’t a bad tour, but know what you’re getting in to. It was basically a bus ride there and back with a little guidance. Pick up was confusing and better instructions would have been helpful. We tried emailing for clarification but never heard back from the tour company. Participants should know that it’s basically a bus stop outside of an abandoned store. There were quite a few homeless people about which made us regret arriving “on time” to check in. Our guide and bus didn’t actually arrive until around the time we were supposed to leave. By then a crowd of confused people had gathered all hoping we were in the right place. Once aboard the bus was nice and the guide gave interesting facts and insights along the ride. Our group itself wasn’t very polite which made it difficult to hear and understand our guide. For most of the time at the beginning we were blindly following a group and didn’t understand what was going on. It turns out he was showing us all how to get the return train. But we couldn’t tell. Perhaps it would have been better to share the instructions on the bus prior to arriving at Eibsee. It ended up being a great day - a favorite visit for many in our group and worth the expense. Just some bumpy spots along the day.
Must do visit
