Thanks for the review Jenna. There seems to have been a misunderstanding and for that we are sorry. This is our first non-five-star review on Google or Viator in all the years we've been teaching so we take this seriously.
We will post our final text communication at the bottom of this response so others can see that everything seemed to be confirmed by both parties to use the regular studio, even after we offered you the upgrade option of the home studio.
To shed some light on the situation for anyone reading, you and your guest were the only two scheduled for the lesson. Unlike the other companies, we do not cancel lessons even when we are losing money due to small class size. People make plans around our amazing, entertaining lessons and we feel a deep responsibility to them. On our website, we offer two-person private lessons for two-and-a-half times the cost of a public lesson, so someone getting a two-person lesson at the public price is getting a smoking deal.
On top of what was essentially a private lesson, we offered to teach you at our smaller studio where we hold our small-group and couples dance retreats. We offer that to smaller groups because many feel more comfortable there. The large dance studio can feel overwhelming and intimidating for individuals and smaller groups so we offer it as a courtesy. Just like many of the recording studios, accounting firms and other small businesses in Nashville, it's located in a home so it has a comfortable, country feel. It's also 4 minutes closer to Broadway so it's a win-win for most people.
Again, this is not offered to everyone, only our partner country swing lessons and small line dance groups. We offered it as a bonus and you declined so we kept the lesson at Millennium Dance Complex like usual. You confirmed you would be there, yet you never showed, nor did you call to let us know, nor respond to our calls and texts asking about your ETA. We waited until 37 minutes after the start of the one-hour lesson, messaged you to let you know we were leaving, then packed everything back up and left the studio.
We went out of our way to offer you a better experience than you purchased. You didn't want the better experience, confirmed you wanted the typical studio, didn't show, didn't respond to our communication then left a less-than-favorable review, our first ever.
We are saddened that you did not attend the lesson. We go out of our way to make our lessons the highlight of everyone's visit to Nashville, and offered more options to you than the general public receives, yet we failed you. We are sorry and hope you will give us another chance.
