Our tour guide could give us very nuanced answers to our questions. She grew up in this community and has first hand experience. The food was delicious and more than enough..
Incredibly interesting.

Freida was lovely and she showed a very respectful and fascinating in-site to this very closed community. I had soooo many questions!

What an amazing experience! The tour in itself was very interesting but Frieda made it even more fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better guide and insight into this Hasidic community. Highly recommend!

Frieda gave us very interesting tour about Hasidic district, stories about community life, history, rules of their life, buildings specific architecture. We enjoyed every minute spend with Frieda.
Wonderfull and informative tour of the Hasidic community by Frieda

I really enjoyed this very informative and fascinating look into the Hasidic community given by Frieda. She is very knowledgeable since she herself grew up in this community and knows quite a bit about it. I also enjoyed the numerous food stops we made where we enjoyed a variety of authentic Hasidic food.
Fabulous!

We have been to New York over 10 times and have each time booked one or the other tour. This tour has been the best by far. The tour gives a very good and informative introduction into the everyday life of Hasidic Jews. The rules of their faith and coexistence may seem strange to an outsider. However, after the tour we had an understanding how the group is cohesive and why leaving the community is very difficult for individuals. The special highlight of the tour is the guide Frieda. She grew up there herself and left the religious community only a few years ago, so she uniquely combines information about the religious community with her own, very personal experiences. The tour takes a total of 3 hours, the track is moderate. Part of the tour is a short stop at a local bakery and at the end a meal together with the opportunity to ask questions again. All participants received a radio receiver with headphones in order to understand the explanations of the guide despite ambient noise.

We did this tour with Freida on a sunny cold December day 2017. She used a mic with individual headsets so we never missed a thing. Freida gave us a glimpse into what life is like in a Hasidic family. Despite being shunned from this, the community she left, she brings her group in and out of shops, along the streets and points out what we would have never seen on a mere stroll through the area. All the time she is very respectful of the feelings and beliefs of the residents which was a lesson in its self. We encountered many residents that were curious in what she was saying and would stop to listen in. We even had a lady ask to join and then she told us what her family went through to escape from the war and Russia when she was a young child. Freida is a very open and flexible tour guide. We would never have seen the details that she pointed out and learned about the way of life for these people if we had just done a walk through the area on our own. Freida, you made this tour the highlight of our trip. Thank you for your openness to all our questions.

The tour guide is exceptional! Since she herself is a refugee from the Satmar world, she knows where she is coming from and where she is going. From the start of the tour, it was fascinating to see how the young people have used the best of the internet and blocked the rest by the use of Chinese blocking and censorship technology! Their book stores, their grocery stores and even their restaurants are a story of absolute obedience to the faith. Amazing they are able to keep their believers in the fold. On the other hand, the tour guide left and has turned that into a way to make a living for herself. An amazing insight into a world rarely seen. Great tour.
