Explore Kuranda on a full-day small-group tour from Port Douglas or Palm Cove. Meet a local guide for a walking tour of Kuranda and head up the coast to Palm Cove for a leisurely stroll along the esplanade and beach. You also have the choice to ride either the Kuranda Scenic Railway or the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, or upgrade to do both. Travel in a small group limited to 12 people on a tour that includes entrance tickets, transportation, and hotel pickup and drop-off.

We pick up from any hotels in and around Port Douglas, Palm Cove, Clifton Beach, Kewarra Beach, Trinity Beach & Yorkeys Knob.
What To Expect
Begin the day with morning pickup from your Port Douglas accommodation.
Ride in your air-conditioned minivan to Freshwater Station to take the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway (if option selected), which winds through the World Heritage-listed rainforest, passing towering waterfalls and the Barron Gorge. Upon arrival in Kuranda, your guide shows you around rainforest village, which is known for a range of arts and craft markets.
After your time in Kuranda, hop aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway (if option selected), a gondola that glides over the rainforest canopy. Next, drive to the tree-lined esplanade in Palm Cove where you can purchase refreshments (own expense) and take in the beach, shops, and galleries.
Return to Port Douglas in the late afternoon where your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

The skyrail over the rain forest was spectacular. The butterfly sanctuary at Kuranda is definitely worth a visit

Really great trip eventhough the scenic railway was closed due to earlier severe flood damage.
In addition the area was experiencing power cuts intermittently during the day, affecting the sky train and the town of Kuranda.
Tour guide was excellent, great knowledge and reacted very well to power outages ensuring safety of guests and amending schedule accordingly.

Great tour. The falls were spectacular. The only problem, keeping me from giving a “Five Stars,” was that the return trail from the waterfall overlook, was not marked well for handicapped. They need better signs.

We took the trip at the beginning of December 2023. The weather was sunny, our guide Chris was very well organized and fun. The train ride takes you through some very picturesque parts of the forest along the Barron River. Kuranda is a small town with a good vibe. The markets may be a little overrated, but still interesting and worth checking out. The Skyrail trip back to Cairns offers some of the most amazing views, weather permitting - we had a perfect one.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Bridget, our driver for the Kuranda day tour, she made the day so pleasurable with her upbeat personality and depth of knowledge, she made our experience so memorable.

Our day was grand with Dale, a very informative host. The timetable went off without a hitch, the day was 'dampened' however, by poor weather - thus there were NO views either on the train or skyrail. Our suggestion would be to NOT book well in advance (as we did) but try to ascertain the weather conditions prior to booking. The weather was not controlled by Brett's Tours, but the tour company itself....highly recommended! Thanks Dale.
