What To Expect

When your boat departs, your guide provides a safety briefing and introduction to the day's activities, and scuba divers are briefed about the dive sites.

Custom built snorkel-only vessels allow access to renowned sites throughout the Barrier Reef. If you want to go diving, introductory divers are placed in small groups with a PADI Dive Instructor. Certified divers dive in small groups accompanied by PADI Dive Masters. Scuba diving is for an additional charge.

Arrive at your first dive site at either Opal or Agincourt Reef. Have time to snorkel and enjoy morning tea before moving on to the second site before noon. Guided snorkel tours are optional at the second site. Have lunch on board the boat, then listen to an interpretive talk about the Great Barrier Reef.

Move to the third site of the day and take the optional guided snorkel tour, then nibble your afternoon tea afterwards. Finally, depart for the mainland.

Diving within 48 hours of flying is not recommended. All participants will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to diving. Some pre-existing medical conditions (eg asthma, heart conditions, etc) may prevent you from diving, please consult your doctor
Additional dives may be booked and paid for on board (subject to availability). Maximum of three dives in a day.
Children under the age of 12 years are not permitted to dive.

Evidence of dive certification is required from all divers wishing to participate in a certified dive
Infants must sit on laps
Children must be accompanied by an adult
If its raining on your day of travel, the tour will still go ahead. If Calypso cancels due to poor weather, mainly high winds, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund
Cancellation fees may apply if less than 24 hours notice is given prior to departure
No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
Most travelers can participate
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 85 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

This crew was so kind and knowledgeable! The waters were rough the day we went out and they were very thoughtful to anyone that felt sick. It was my first scuba experience and Tim did a really wonderful job making me feel safe and comfortable!

Wonderful day on the reef

We had a great day on the outer reef. This is really where you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef. Here you see the huge corals and tropical fish. We took the beginner diving lesson, and our instructor Michael was helpful, confident in his ability to keep us safe, and also patient with the students who were nervous. Doing my first ever dive here was an unforgettable moment. The snorkeling was also great, you could see everything in detail from the surface as well. The only bummer on our tour was the staircase to the water malfunctioned and we couldn’t complete the 3rd snorkel site. But the company is offering a partial refund to make it right. Overall a great experience, and we’d come back again if given a chance!

The crew were amazing. The fish were fantastic. The trip out to the great barrier reef is pretty rough. Make sure you take anti-nausea medicine and that will not help everyone if it’s a rough day and you are on that water for eight hours no matter what so, be aware. Food was surprisingly really good and it was a bucket list that I am thrilled to have checked off.

Organised, perhaps lunch could be revamped with additional options Advise people of drinks being offered but need to pay prior, along with sea sick tablets costing if required Perhaps a microphone for talks given so many noises

Thank you to our guides Claudia, Tay and Kelsey and the otehr guides! You were kind, helpful and so professional and made us feel safe in the water which was a bit overwhelming to start off with. The boat was clean and not not crowded and the instructions from the guides were clear. It was such fun and the reef was everything we thought it would be. Thank you for a great reef tour, absolutely memorable and highly recommend the Calypso Blue team.

Great way to see Great Barrier Reef

Everything about the tour was well done. Crew was helpful, friendly and informative and made sure everyone was doing well in the water. Took us to three different locations to view the reef which they can choose based on day of conditions. Snorkeling was phenomenal, lots of colorful coral and endless varieties of fish. All food and snacks provided were good quality.

Wonderful experience snorkelling three reefs. Each quite different but equally amazing. Enjoyed the guided tour of the second reef two. Staff very safe, helpful and engaged with all of us. What a privilege being able to have this wonderful experience. Lunch was good too - not too heavy which was perfect for snorkelling🪸

The Calypso crew were amazing, very professional and friendly. The snorkeling at three different reef spots was wonderful and we noticed the different sea life and corals in each of the spots. There were so many fish and other sea life and although it was stinger season, the crew provided stinger suits so we were safe.
