What To Expect

Meet your guide and begin your communism and bunker walking tour of Prague at the historic Powder Tower on Namesti Republiky, the meeting point of the city’s Old and New Towns. Listen to your guide’s commentary as you set out to explore the Old Town and piece together the key events of the country’s history. Hear about the formation of the Czechoslovakia Republic in 1918, the dark days of Nazi occupation and the liberation by the Russian Red Army in 1945.

Admire the monumental buildings of the Old Town Square and stand on the spot where Communist party leaders celebrated their victory in 1948. Pass historic points of interest like the Kotva shopping mall and the former headquarters of the secret police on Bartolomejska Street. Walk along Narodni Street, where students were massacred by state police on 17th of November 1989, and hear about the Prague Spring as you stand on Wenceslas Square, when the Soviet army crushed the nation's blossoming dreams of democracy in 1968.

Stop for refreshments at a local worker’s canteen, where you’ll have chance to sip a beer or sample popular Czech soda, kofola (own expense). Finally, enjoy the rare opportunity to explore inside a real nuclear bunker, dating from the 1950s.

Leo was very knowledgeable in the Czech Republic’s journey through communism. He’s up to date and insightful on current affairs. The bunker tour was a great experience and extremely enlightening. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Me and my girlfriend met ut with the guide Klara and found out we were the only ones who had booked the experience that time. We got a personal guided tour and Klara showed us pictures along the way to really make us understand. We had interesting discussions and me and my gf got all of our questions answered. This tour covered all angles of the communism in chechoslovakia from a perspective of someone born in the country. Klara shared stories of her owns families storys etc. the bunker were also really cool and interactive where we got to hold guns and do things the soldiers would have done. We also got a free pin each in the end. Way better than the museum of communism and an absorlutely fantastic and personal tour. Would have rated higher than 5 if possible.

The Guide's explanation of the history of communism and the tour of the Bunker. The Guide's real life experience of having been born and lived in Russia then spent time in Israel then relocated to Prague was so interesting to hear.

The was a really interesting tour of the Communist history of Prague and also about Prague in general. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we had a great time doing our tour with her. All the places we visited were interesting but we especially loved the Canteen eating experience (the food is simple but so tasty) which felt like a step back in time and the Bunker visit. The bunker, now a museum, is a time capsule of history and so immersive. Absolutely loved it. So much incredible history and it is a tour I highly recommend doing.

We had a small group of 8 and a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. The tour is 3 hours of walking/ standing but our guide offered us a food/restroom break half way through. It was very informative and the Bunker was interesting to visit.
