Overview

St. Francis Church is undergoing an extensive reconstruction this year, It will be open on Christmas and in 2018.  Spend a baroque-style evening in Prague at an organ concert at St Francis of Assisi Church in Old Town, near the Charles Bridge. Your ears will delight in the sounds of classical music being played by Czech musicians on one of Prague’s oldest organs, which dates back to 1702 and has been previously played by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The church was spectacular and the concert was very nice. Perfect length at about an hour. Venue was cold, but that’s expected in an old church at night in December. Dress warmly!

Panis Angelicus was fabulous. It would have been better if the violin and soloist were on the stage instead of in the balcony where we couldn't see them even though our seats were good.

Building was gorgeous. Musicians (3, sproano, organist and violin) were playing in the veranda, so you couldn't see them, only hear them. Only after 30 minutes the soprano came down with the violinist. It started with Tocata and Fuge...and unfortunately not a very good rendition. It was alright, given the price point...you get what you pay for type deal. It was ok, but wouldn't repeat the experience.

Dear Peter , we are surprised you was not happy, but we accept your comments and we want to explain. You probably buy your ticket on last moment, = less than 30 minutes before concert, right? For all clients who come earlier we reserve good seats on left side, from where organ could be sow. Unfortunately those good seats are usually sold out before concert ... so we recomend everybody to come to church daily between 11AM - 5PM to buy ticket and reserve best seats available. We understand that not everybody could come earlier, but you should understand that best seats will not wait for latecomers... Regarding your negative comment on Toccata and Fuga C Dur from Czech baroque composer J. F. N. Seger, who was 40 years organist in St. Francis church, I am really surprised you know this unknown piece so good to comment interpretation quality. I studied music 10 years on conservatory and music Academy, and I even dont know all pieces so good. Didnt you expected Toccata from Bach which is popular one? Anyway, we do really apologize for your dissatisfaction ( which appear just rarelly) and we would like to propose you free ticket for your next visite of our concert, or money refund. The church is a beautiful baroque church with great murals, painting and altar. The artists are also really great with the singer being able to reach incredibly high pitch notes.
