What To Expect

Zip around Old San Juan by Segway as you explore its top attractions on this 2-hour small-group tour. Take in incredible views of San Juan Bay, Castillo San Felipe del Morro and San Cristobal Fort, among others, as you learn the fascinating history of this 500-year-old settlement first started by the Spanish Empire.

Meet your group at Pier 2 in Old San Juan, the tour’s departure point. Your meeting time will vary depending on the tour option you select, leaving at either 10am, 1pm or 4pm. First grab your helmet and get a safety lesson on using the two-wheeled Segway from your guide, and take some time to get familiar with starting and stopping. From there you’re ready to roll, heading out into the streets of this picturesque colonial district.

Move along the area’s cobblestone streets and colorful facades, stopping for photos and for a military history lesson from your guide. Soon you’ll reach Darsenas Square, which provides panoramic views of modern San Juan and its bay, and then see the remains of the San Juan Gate, where you'll hear about the crucial role the city’s harbor once played in maritime defense.

Continue your ride along the hilly streets, stopping to admire the imposing walls of La Muralla, a 3-mile (5 km) long and 140-foot (43 m) high barrier that once served as the linchpin of Old San Juan’s military defenses.

Your tour then moves past some additional monuments, including the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, site of the remains of famous Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, who searched for the Fountain of Youth, as well as the Ballaja infantry barracks and the cannon battery of La Perla, which was eventually turned into a slaughterhouse. After a few more attraction stops, your tour finishes back at the departure point.

See the full list of tour stops on the itinerary below.
Sights seen include as follows: • Darsenas Square • US landmarks (customs house, Coast Guard, a federal court) • Ancient cobblestone streets, colonial neighborhoods and houses • The Princess promenade • Heritage Monument • The Princess jail • Narrowest house in Old San Juan • Roots Monument • Growth Monument • The Fortaleza • City Wall of San Juan • Queen Isabella Monument • San Juan Gate • Rogativa Monument • Ponce de Leon's mansion wall • Visual Arts College • Castillo San Felipe del Morro • Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery • Ballaja infantry barracks • Servants of Mary Order • Goats Island • La Perla • Dominican Convent, now the National Gallery • Totem Pole • Bacardi Distillery (seen across the San Juan Bay) • San Cristobal Fort (seen from Castillo San Felipe del Morro)

Must do Segway Torrance, San Juan, Puerto Rico
shawn_m, May 2024
Jose did a great job of showing the highlights of San Juan along with great historical perspectives. This was a great Segway adventure and we would highly recommend it.
History

1st time getting on a Segway. It was actually pretty easy and lots of fun! You get a crash course on how to properly use them. The tour guide was informative and we learned alot. Wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes!
Rolling through Old San Juan
Rodney_H, Mar 2024
Using the Segway for the tour was the best thing we could have done. Getting familiar with the Segway was easy after five minutes on the machine. Rolling through the uphill streets was much easier on the Segway than walking. The tour guide was excellent. He was able to give us more insight into the Water Gate and the influence of the Church. Will definitely do again when in Puerto Rico. Highly recommended!!
I loved how they gave us...
Ellie_B, Mar 2024
I loved how they gave us practice time on the Segway prior to the actually doing the tour which was super nice to get comfortable with the Segway. The tour we went on was super beautiful and the tour guide was super friendly.
Love to segway.

Really enjoyed hearing about the history of the island. He was very knowledgeable and informative. Answered all my questions. Had a wonderful tour of the city and noted buildings. Would recommend to everyone.
Dangerous / Beware and Be careful
Mary_S, Mar 2024
This tour goes over narrow and uneven cobblestone roads with cars on one side and high curbs on the other. Plus traffic. This wasn’t my first Segway tour. I’ve done many and never had any issues. Despite that I crashed TWICE into the high curbs and am at this moment not sure of the extent of my injuries despite being able to walk away. For sure ruined the rest of my trip with knee and hip pain. I think These are smaller / less stable models than I’ve been on before as well. In addition the tour guide spent most of the time telling stories with political leanings and about how oppressed the local folks are by the US. Not what we paid to hear or experience ! Beware and if you go and don’t feel safe - walk away . The guide been laughed at the beginning telling us he’s seen broken bones. That’s BEFORE I crashed . Afterwards he showed zero concern for my welfare . My advice is to avoid Segway in Puerto Rico
Great alternative to Walking
Susan_H, Feb 2024
Really enjoyed the Segway tour. Was concerned we would be considered too old for the tour, but no issue. All 6 people on the tour had previous experience riding so that made it quite easy. Stopped a number of times to get a little history. Ride was a nice break from constant walking. Owner was quite pleasant and welcoming.
Fun activity to do w teens!

Riding scooters through some of the different areas in old San Juan including scenic beach views was fun!
Dissatisfied (and I’m a seasoned traveler)
Amber_J, Dec 2023
For the third time a Segway tour of mine has been cancelled through Viator (different locations) and I have received little to no advance notice. Today I found out as I arrived at my take off location. I have been trying to rebook all day to no avail. Since the cancellation was so late I couldn’t book anything else for the day. Horrible experience through Viator, I was at the local Segway tour office off and on all day trying to rebook, the office was empty. This is my last Viator tour I will ever book.
Overview of the city of Old San Juan
Bruce_I, Dec 2023
We did our first Segway tour in Old San Juan with Jose. He was very thorough with safety precautions and learning how to ride the Segway. This is a great way to cover a lot of ground area seeing the sights. I would recommend doing this tour first and then go back to areas you saw in order to see the venues in greater detail. We didn't have time to go back to the fort or citadel. We enjoyed riding along the streets of Old San Juan. Having a "private" tour was very helpful to be able to follow and hear what our guide, Jose, was saying about the different stops. Thank you Jose! We loved our tour of Old San Juan on a Segway!
Great tour & guide
Jennifer_G, Jul 2023
This was a great tour with a fabulous guide. Highly recommend this tour, it was worth the cost! I would go again
We scheduled the 1030...
Myra_R, Jun 2023
We scheduled the 1030 session to avoid extreme heat only to arrive to an empty building. After checking our email at the time we noticed as email that was sent saying that our time had been moved to 1pm after we had the confirmation text confirming 1030. We feel as though the tour guide changed the times himself because he wanted to sleep in that morning. If we wanted the 1pm session we would've selected that option instead of 1030..not received it by default. It was brutally hot at 1pm and the tour guide was very dry. He did not provide us opportunities to take pictures therefore we had to ask if we could stop for photo ops ourselves.
Response from Host, Jun 2023

Save your money!
Shona_B, Jun 2023
This wasn’t a great tour. The guide seemed uninterested and did not stop and recommend photo ops. We had to ask could we take pictures. It was good not to have to walk but that is it.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Greetings, apologies for providing a historical tour and not a photography session.
The big scale pulled out
JOEL_J, May 2023
Make sure you know exactly how much you weigh be cause if your over you don’t get to ride or your money back even for a couple of pounds
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Minimum weight restriction by manufacturer 100lbs. Maximum 260lbs for Segway PT. Maximum 220lbs for Kickscooter. Scaled at office prior tour for safety.
Great experience, best way to get to know Old San Juan!
Pia_L, May 2023
Jose, our guide, was fantastic! The Segways we originally planned to ride were too tricky for me, so Jose offered a switch to the motorized scooter, and the tour itself was informative and eye-opening… sign up for your own experience, you won’t regret it!
Great way to see San Juan
Akiba_R, May 2023
This is such a nice way to see San Juan. My daughter (15) and I were the only two on the tour which made it more personal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and nice. He taught us how to use the Segways before the tour and to my surprise it was easy. I only wish we could have stopped for a drink of water or juice and then continued on the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour especially for cruisers because it’s located right by the cruise ship. I came in on Carnival’s Celebration, took a left outside the pier and walked maybe 2 minutes down to the building on the left. You have to walk down a few steps and it’s in the back. If you pass subway you have gone too far. I posted my photo in cruise groups and received a lot of questions…I hope he gets more business.
Jose is wonderful and...
Charla_G, Mar 2023
Jose is wonderful and tells you all the history of Old San Juan. The scooters were easy to ride for a first timer, they go fast if you are looking for a speed adventure, it was fast paced, enjoyable, Old San Juan is beautiful and it was a great way to see the historic city. Thank you Jose for an amazing time!
Great Historical Segway Tour of PR
Leticia_A, Mar 2023
This segway tour is more about the history of PR versus the segway ride & beach views. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history, impact to the island and the people of PR, including the purpose of many monuments of Old San Juan. He gave us time to adjust to the segways before we left, great safety briefing and practice included. This is definitely a great way to get a quick overview of the area and ask any questions about the PR's history.
San Juan fun!
D_O, Mar 2023
our tour guide was very informative and very serious about safety which I appreciated. I took the tour with my son who is 12 and we both had a blast, it was longer than expected, which was a benefit that matched the price of the tour! I would definitely recommend it to someone wanting to explore the history of Puerto Rico in a cool way.
Young’s take old San Juan!!!!
Nakisha_Y, Feb 2023
We had a blast!!! Our guide was very informative and patient. I would recommend booking this tour if you would like to hear and see history of old San Juan. P.s. I kept getting an error message when I tried to upload pictures 😔.
