Private tours are the way to go. Skip the lines and enjoy the sights! Our guide was great and she brought a lot of knowledge to the tour.

Very detailed info provided throughout the tour! The Vatican museums are vast. Be ready for a lot of walking! Disappointed we weren’t shown the way to the Basilica & the square after the tour.

Thank you Cheryl! on Wednesdays and on other rare occasions it can happen that the Basilica is not accessible. As our guide Sonia explained, the only reason why you were not escorted to Saint Peter's is that Pope Francis was serving Mass there. I hope you had the opportunity to visit the Basilica later, with the information Sonia provided.
Amazing, interesting, and fun Vatican tour

Our guide was Guilia with Blue Italy tours, and this was one of the best guided tours I have ever had! Even before the tour began she revised the meeting time to make our entry smoother. From the beginning she was super friendly and personable, organized, and very detailed, with some comedy along the way. As an art historian and a Roman, her love of art and Rome comes through. She gave us so much information about the most important pieces in the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel that made them come alive. The tour went quickly even though it was two hours. After such a short time I felt she was a friend. I highly recommend this tour for all levels of art connoisseurs.
