What To Expect

Meet your guide at your Rotterdam hotel or the prearranged central meeting point, and then set off to begin your private tour of the city's top architectural and cultural sights.

Learn about Rotterdam’s past and present as you take in some of the city’s landmark buildings, including Rotterdam Centraal Station; the Old Harbor, or Oude Haven, which dates back to 1350; and the SS Rotterdam, a former ocean liner and cruise ship that’s been converted into a hotel.

Roughly halfway through your tour, you’ll stop for refreshments (own expense) in Rotterdam Market Hall (Markthal), the jewel in the city’s architectural crown. Then, continue to the eye-catching cube houses (Kubuswoningen) and make use of your included admission to the complex’s kijk-kubus (show-cube), a house museum designed to give you a feel of what life is like in a cube house.

A quick, fun orientation to Rotterdam
Ruthine_R, Apr 2024
We enjoyed learning a little bit about the history of Rotterdam and its architecture from John. It was a nice walk from the train station to the cube houses with interesting stories along the way.
Wonderful
Martha_S, Apr 2024
Susan was a wonderful guide! Friendly and flexible. She knows so many interesting things about a city she loves! We would have never accomplished so much on our own.

Educational and Informative
Kevin_W, Dec 2023
This was an excellent and educational tour. Our guide, Susan, was wonderful! We couldn't have asked for a better person to guide us. She was engaging and informative. At the end of our tour, we tipped her and found our she donate tips to impoverished children she worked with when she wasn't being a tour guide. It made our tour feel extra special. Thank you Viator and Susan.
Rotterdam is a must visit!

Wow! Rotterdam has such unique architecture, it is by far the most beautiful city in The Netherlands and I am glad that i've been able to learn so much about this city and its culture!

The Cube Houses
Benny_C, Sep 2023
We really appreciate the architectural design of the cube house which is the only tourist destination we are expecting to experience. Not much to see in Rotterdam.

Gio was such a talented, enthusiastic guide. He showed us Rotterdam with great care and even gave us some great recommendations on other places to visit and where to go to dinner. Many thanks!!
No show by operators
Mike_C, Jul 2023
A complete no show by the tour operator couldn’t even get a hold of the operator by way of the chat service this is the second time that has happened to us with Viator. There is obviously a problem with their vetting process of independents who are apparently flakes.
Rotterdam Walking Tour

The visit to the Cube Houses was quite interesting. We had not seen such residences before. Michel is certainly an experienced guide, able to relate easily to his client. We took his advice and made a visit to Delph.

A Great Way to See and Learn About Rotterdam
Martha_E, May 2023
Walking by and hearing about Rotterdam before, during and after the war as well as learning about the new architecture in the city. Going through the cube houses was also a highlight.
Downtown Rotterdam
Tracy_H, Apr 2023
Really enjoyed learning about the markers in the sidewalk to note victims being pulled out of their homes and sent to concentration camps. Not sure if there was a misunderstanding of who pays the entrance fee at the cube houses. We had to pay 9 Euros which isn't expensive, however, in the description of this tour, it says the fee is included.

Just arrived at Rotterdam around 3pm, but because the kindness of the tour agent, we manage to start the private tour at 4pm. Our guide name is Stephan, a very nice and soft spoken guy and gave us a lot of information about Rotterdam historical important things.

We had great weather the day we visited which makes a walking tour an ideal option. The tour starts at Rotterdam Centraal and takes a good pace noodling through the city and docks area. Guide, Tony, is enthusiastic and knowledgeable and has thought through what might be interesting for his groups. He includes lots of local knowledge and takes you to places off the standard tourist trail. His English is good too! We were drawn to this tour for the emphasis on the architecture which is unique to Rotterdam and how the city is rebuilding itself as opposed to the traditional historical or sight-seeing tours. There is a short stop at the markets for a sit and refreshment if you want. It gives you a bit of time to really appreciate this novel building. We also very much enjoyed the short peek inside the cube house. Something completely different! Highly recommend this tour. Wear appropriate walking shoes!

Easy town to walk. Tour could have started with pre war history, maybe something about original inhabitants. Guide was extremely cordial. Market hall was great. Cube houses are nice on outside not worth going in. Overall it was ok. If your in Rotterdam, it is a good way to learn the city.
