    What To Expect

    Make your own way to the San Antonio Zoo to explore the diverse exhibits that feature animals from around the world.

    Wander through several sections of the zoo including Africa Live!, the Savanna, Amphibia, Big Cat Valley, and Flamingo Mingle to see everything from zebra and giraffes to lions and flamingoes.

    Find out more about some of the zoo's most popular animals during daily presentations (check the schedule for timing).

    At the Zootennial Carousel, kids can catch a ride on native Texas animals such as a whooping crane, white-tailed deer, Texas horned lizard, and the jackalope, along with other creatures. The zoo train offers rides around the premises (additional expense), and refreshments are available for purchase at the cafe.

    You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

    • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
    • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
    • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
    • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
    • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

    A:Yes - The Zoo Parking Garage is located in between the zoo and Will Smith Zoo School. Parking at the garage is free during zoo business hours.

    A:Yes! You can also rent a stroller upon arrival at the zoo. Single stroller - $13, Double stroller - $16 All rentals require a valid driver's license and are subject to availability. Rental fees subject to change.

    Q:Can I bring my own food/drink into the San Antonio Zoo?

    A:Outside food or drink is not allowed into the zoo. Exceptions are bottled water, baby food, and formula. Ice chests, coolers, and ice bags are not allowed on zoo grounds.

    A:Unfortunately, your furry friends are not allowed into the zoo. Service animals are welcome on Zoo grounds under the care of their owner. All guests with service animals must check in with the Guest Experience office upon arrival.

    Tickets were discounted from buying at the zoo, which is a plus. Zoo here is pretty good - feeding giraffes was a highlight.

    We loved feeding the giraffes, feeding the lories, walking among butterflies and the 4D experience. The layout of the park is beautiful. We felt a little rushed through the giraffe feeding.

    Great zoo. Lots to see and easy to do in one day. Zoo is easy to walk and get around. Different experiences can cost more (like feeding giraffes/other animals).

    A great time! Our family loved it! It was nice and shady on a hot day! Lots of animals. Hate to hear we missed the elephants though. 🐘 RIP
    Don’t miss out visiting the San Antonio zoo

    Spending time with my grandson at the Zoo was very nice. We enjoyed our visit but quite a bit of the showrooms were empty. I didn’t expect the zoo to be as big as it was. This is what made up for all, especially because there were no parking fee. I highly recommend everyone to visit the San Antonio zoo.

    The San Antonio was cool. I really enjoyed feeding the Giraffe it was a wonderful experience. I was they had a little more attraction. Like Gorilla, Chimpanzee , A variety of Big Cats, Etc.

    Probably enjoyed the Avery section the most. However, it was all very interesting and fun. Our entire group had a great experience and will certainly return.

    I love the San Antonio zoo but did not like the ticketing process. I stood in lines with other people that also thought we were in line to buy tickets. After about ten minutes we had a poor explanation of the process and we had wasted our time.

    Great family zoo with lots of animals

    The zoo is a little confusing the way it is set up and the digital map is not good. The zoo is amazing. The people were all friendly and there was lots of staff to help. I saw many unique animals do that was cool. We went on dog day so there were dogs everywhere- some in costumes, some in strollers and some even in baby carriers. The enclosures are big and the animals seemed content.

    We visit many zoos in different states and cities. The variety of animals here was great. Make sure to take quarters to feed to fish and ducks.

    This zoo should not have been open..there were hardly any animals to view. I came all the way from Louisiana just to be disappointed...but on the bright side we got a pic of the family ...
