I absolutely recommend this tour. Our guide, Erika, and our driver, Jose, were outstanding. Erika was well informed of the area, flora and fauna. She was patient in answering all of our questions and she was quick to point out items of interest. We started our day with a tube ride down a slow river, then moved on to cliff jumping and swimming in a small canyon. We then headed to the La Leona Waterfall. This requires a hike through the forest and then into the waterfall. This hike is beautiful. It is advertised as a 'moderate hike'. I am an avid walker/hiker but I would classify this hike as 'difficult'. Lunch was excellent.

Waterfall Adventure

We were so excited to see Paul at pick up! He had been our driver the day before, and he’s awesome! Our kids (15, 19, 21) were ready for a day of adventure! After a bit of a drive from our resort, we started with a short tube ride and some waterfall jumping/swimming. This was nice, but nothing to write home about. The second stop was where the adventure began. We had no idea what we were in for. Paul and Crazy Chicken (aka pollo loco aka Allan) were our guides. Our first stop was a natural waterslide that the kids enjoyed. We continued on to an area where we had to use ropes to scale down rocks into the river. We walked along a rope line where a gorgeous waterfall was revealed. We were able to walk behind it and ride the current out. Next, we took on a crazy climb up with ropes through a rock formation. The kids were in awe. At that point, our 15 year old son said that out of all the hikes he’s been on (in the UP, Colorado, and even the Pitons of Saint Lucia), this was by far the coolest ever! My husband and I were just happy we were able to climb up 🤣. We thought that was it, but the best was yet to come. After some more hiking and climbing, we came to a long rope in deep water. We pulled ourselves along, climbed up another rope, and were treated to a gorgeous pool and waterfall. Stunning! Time for an authentic lunch at a cute cafe. Paul was sweet and personally bought us drinks that he wanted us to try! The brand is Bamboo, and I’m guessing I won’t be lucky enough to find them in the States. On to the last waterfall. This one required a hike down some serious stairs, but it was by far the most impressive waterfall of the day. We swam, relaxed, and didn’t feel rushed once all day. This private tour was worth it to be on our own schedule with our own guide. Request Paul. He’s a fantastic guy! He even made a YouTube video of our day (with permission) and posted it at Sweet Costa Rica. Super awesome!

Highlight of Costa Rica vacation

This was by far the highlight of the trip. I got to meet a lot of locals, experience & see a lot of Costa Rica, and had a lot of fun doing it. José is the man and gave us a lot of insight into the area and Costa Rican life. Very comfortable transportation for a couple.

This was such an amazing trip!! Three waterfalls in a day with lots of time to swim and be in the water. The guides were professional and had every detail covered. Lunch was at a locals restaurant and was so good. You’ll create some lasting memories on this trip and it was an amazing way to get to see the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

Our guide was Jose. He was phenomenal from the moment he picked our group up to the time he dropped us off. The hike to the La Leona waterfall was tougher if you don’t hike, but the guides help you throughout and was well worth it. The lunch that is provided is excellent. The views you get to see on this excursion is once in a lifetime, especially if you are from the United States.

Jose was a great tour guide. The hike was amazing and waterfalls gorgeous. Tubing on the lazy river was okay. Jose even took video to share with us so we didn’t need cameras. Looking forward to seeing the video.

Fun filled packed day!

We had the best time!! Sebastian was a great guide!! We tubed down a relaxing river and hiked to cliff jump. Then, drove to Le Leona waterfall where we hiked more and swam to view the waterfall in a cave. Lunch was sooo good! A storm rolled in just as we were finishing lunch and Sebastian tried his hardest to get us to the last waterfall but it was closed due to the storm. So, he improvised and showed us around Liberia instead. We definitely recommend this excursion!!

Amazing tour!! The best day of our vacation was the day we booked this tour. She was super super knowledgeable about everything around the are and the nature and habitat of all the animals. She took us to the most beautiful places we've ever seen. I'm not very fit but she made sure she helped me throughout the way leading the best route! Do the cliff jump!

The cliff jumping was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. This tour does require exertion so please read the print about being able to swim and it does have a moderate level of physical activity. Some parts were challenging for me navigating and scaling large rocks because I am only 5'1". The current going towards the waterfalls are strong and we visited in the dry season so I can only imagine during the wet season it being much more difficult. Erica our tour guide and Paul our driver were great! Erica & Paul took pictures and videos of us during our tour and emailed them to us the next day so we have a great video of us cliff jumping. We communicated through Whatsapp which I highly recommend if you don't already have the app downloaded as this is a primary source of communication for everyone in Costa Rica.

Perfection

Not sure what we did to deserve Le Leona or Sebastian - owner and guide - but the day made our entire trip. If you care about who you are supporting - Sweet Costa Rica is local. Not only did we feel like we were hanging out with a good friend, we learned a ton and experienced so much during this full-day tour. The waterfalls were overwhelmingly beautiful, food was great, transportation was comfortable (and cool). 420 friendly. And I do mean friendly. I had so much fun I lost my voice. I also cried at Le Leona ...I'm as basic as they come LOL
