Little opportunity to get out of the car.

Overall the tour was a "drive by" sightseeing of Sāo Paulo, with little opportunity to see visit much outside of the car. Our guide was very nice and did his best to fill the time as we drove, but for the price paid and what we actually saw, the tour did not fulfil our expectations. The guide arrived 20+ min. late for pick-up at the Port of Santos and we could not reach him or the tour operator via text message. Then we encountered traffic leaving the city of Santos and on the drive to Sāo Paolo learned his car had started making noises that day (so he was driving a bit slower). Given we were only in port for 9 hours, these factors meant we would have less time to spend in Sāo Paolo. The tour highlight was our first stop at the MAC (view from terrace and architecture by Oscar Niemeyer). In hindsight, we would have preferred to visit the museum and see the modern artwork, because it was not possible to visit some of the points of interest in the city center of Sāo Paolo listed on the tour description. We selected this tour ($606 for 3 guests), over a lesser expensive full day tour ($428 for 3) on Viator because of the more detailed itinerary, but we didn't feel the extra money was worth it. For example, the itinerary indicated a 10 or 15 min. stop/visit to the Cathedral, but when we asked about visiting, our guide told us that it was not a safe area, with many homeless around who can be aggressive to tourists. We had hoped to be able to get out and take photos, but with this advice, we did not, as we didn't feel comfortable holding our cameras. Based on this, I think the Viator website itinerary should be updated because the Cathedral was just another "drive by". We were able to get out at the market, but it wasn't too interesting to us, having lived in Europe and seen lots of markets, and we were not interested in the type of "market fast food" for lunch. I would have skipped this too for a different point of interest. Most importantly with the late start and Google traffic forecast to return to the Port of Santos, we had to skip visiting Batman Alley (which we understand was an interesting stop) in order to begin the drive back to the Port of Santos. Luckily, we did leave Sāo Paolo early, as the guide's car was making more noise on the return so he had to reduce the speed. We did make it back in time to board the ship, but the day tour was more stressful than necessary.

São Paulo is a massive city with a LOT of traFfic. Nalio, our driver, set up the PERFECT day for us. We arrived by Cruise Ship and he was right there waiting for us. We had an amazing day and I could not have been more pleased. Interesting enough we heard from folks who were on a bus trip from the ship they literally nothing, while we had a bunch of interesting stops. A++++++++

Superb Jewish tour.

Adi was warm, knowledgeable and easy going. He gave us a superb tour of the main Jewish sites and history of the Hews in São Paulo. The pick up and drop off was seamless. Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning more about Judaism in Brazil. We also stopped and enjoyed a delicious kosher meal at a local restaurant.

The guide makes the tour. Ilan was the best! Definitely book this tour.

Ilan was our guide. He made us feel like we were long lost family from the minute he met us. This was an amazing private tour. We saw so much and before we knew it our tour ended and we were back at the ship. Ilan is a wealth of knowledge and a genuinely fun person to spend the day with. Private tours are always great because you are in charge of the itinerary and I can tell you we saw things we didn’t even know São Paulo had to offer. The tour company was great answering my questions pre-tour.. I highly recommend this tour if your ship docks in São Paulo / Santos. And they also offer tours for those staying in São Paulo. Regardless of where you start, if you request Ilan you will have the best day ever.

On 2/19/20 we took this tour & had Danilo as our guide. We docked in the port of Santos where he picked us up. He spoke excellent English & was extremely informative on our 1+ hr. drive from the port to the city & back again and answered all of our questions. We stopped at the MAC - Museum of Contemp.Art - beautiful artwork & great views of the city. We drove through several different districts & saw the highlights & stopped at the mural district/Batman Alley. Had a delicious pizza lunch & stopped at an historical church before heading back. Although a little pricey for only 2 people, we enjoyed Danilo & he took great care in assuring our safe return even though he had to drive through a torrential rainstorm on our return trip.

Excellent guide , very knowledgable .knew where to take you and got us into places where tourists are not usually allowed . Very personable and the 8 hours went quickly . We did Santos as well on the way back to ship . Took us to a restaurant with a 360 degree view of São Paulo and did not have to have lunch. Make sure he takes you to The Bakery , for a food experience ( cheap) and biggest and best sandwich in the world

We had a great guide, very vivacious and interesting and a very good driver and we enjoyed the day. However, the City was a little disappointing and too big and sprawling to see in a day, especially as the traffic can be very unpredictable

Jewish Tour of Sao Paulo with Port Pick Up

Our excursion was a substitute for the 5 hour Jewish tour of Sao Paulo, but with a pick up at the cruise port in Santos - which is a 1 1/2 hour drive away. Our guide, Addy, was ready and waiting for us. He spoke very good, understandable English. He knew the area and the sites that we wanted to see. His driving was safe and comfortable, and he planned the trip so that we returned to our ship on time. We could not have been more pleased with our experience - it was exactly what we wanted and hoped for.

Expérience tres décevante

Le guide et le chauffeur sont arrivés avec environ une demi-heure de retard. Le véhicule était en très bonne condition. Le wifi était un plus. On nous a offert de l'eau et du coca. Le chauffeur connaissait son métier. Nous étions très contents d'avoir un guide francophone, mais celui-ci s'est révélé tout à fait incompétent. Il a passé 95 % de son temps à parler portugais avec le chauffeur. A peine prenait-il 15 secondes pour répondre à nos questions. Aucune présentation du pays ni de Sao Paulo. Incapable de répondre à des questions simples comme la population des trois plus grandes villes, les types d'emploi, les conditions économiques, les personnages importants, les artistes célèbres, l'importance des lieux visités,... Absolument rien pour nous faire aimer la ville. Expérience extrêmement décevante et très indigne de Viator. Ça mériterait en fait un remboursement.
