Learning about the meaning behind the design and planning of the “22 Squares “ throughout Savannah’s historic district was very informative. Our tour guide Ray was very well spoken and quite knowledgeable. I highly recommend this History Walking Tour to anyone visiting Savannah.

I was visiting Savannah with my sister and we thought doing a walking tour would be a great way to get our bearings and learn more about the history before spending a few more days in town. We enjoyed the historic walking tour and wish that we would have not spent so much time on each “story” but maybe have covered more ground and learned a bit more broadly. We did learn a lot and it tied other things together that we had read about in “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” as well as from history lessons in general. The group size seemed just right and the headsets were really helpful!

Ray was an excellent tour guide. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable about the history of Savanna’ and how Savannah became the city (town) it is today . There definitely is a small town vibe . The biggest thing that sticks in my mind is what Ray said. “ We a sit on a throne of bones” explaining the struggles thru the generations of Savannah . Two thumbs up to Ray !!

Cannot recommend Ray enough. You felt like you were getting a personal tour with a friend versus a tour he has given for the last 15 years. I am usually not the tour type but my 14 year old daughter and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this. Bonus: 5500 steps on the ol’ Apple Watch 😜

Our tour guide (apologies I forgot her name) was knowledgeable, funny and kept it lively. I learned so many interesting facts about Savannah, particularly the revolutionary and civil war history and the stop at the chocolate shop was a nice bonus.
A must do when first visiting Savannah.

Our tour guide Rod was excellent. You could tell he is a professional historian by his passion and delivery of the stories/facts of the area. We also enjoyed having headphones, which allowed you to truly explore the sites as he spoke. Not all tours offer headphones with audio, so it’s well worth it. Thank you, Rod!
