What To Expect

This tour covers a lot of ground in and around Grand Canyon National Park, so its an early morning pickup from your Flagstaff or Sedona hotel to kick off your day of travel via mini-coach.

Wupatki National Monument is your first major stop. As your guide explains, the ancient Native American civilization of Sinagua lived here for 400 years. Then ancient desert dwellers witnessed the dramatic eruption of Sunset Crater Volcano nearly a millennium ago, which destroyed their homes and forced them out. Your tour includes a visit to the lava fields at Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument.

Take a break from touring with a stop for lunch at the historic Cameron Trading Post. The view of the Little Colorado River Gorge from the deck here is especially striking.

After lunch, re-board your mini-coach to head into the Grand Canyon for an afternoon of exploring this magnificent natural wonder. Stop at lookout points along the canyon's East Rim and South Room for dramatic vistas of gorges below. There's time at leisure for exploring on your own at your own pace.

Throughout the entire day, whether you're exploring by foot or on the mini-coach, your expert guide teaches you about the history, archaeology, geology, and flora and fauna of the Grand Canyon and the surrounding area.

Cat was the best tour guide. She was full of information, stories, kind, and funny. This tour took the stress away of driving from Sedona to the Grand Canyon, finding the locations to visit, parking, and locating lunch. They did it all and added a great tour guide along with the package. I would recommend using this tour to visit the Grand Canyon. Wonderful experience.

absolutely riveting mate

our tour guide Mike, or Joe, or Popeye (he had many names) was just fantastic. really smashing stuff. learned a lot about the indigenous peoples of the land (LAND BACK!!) and had a lovely lunch. Super knowledgeable dude. Even gave some tips on how to fix my film camera. Yes it was expensive considering we are young and don’t have a ton of money but it was worth the money if you can afford it. I didn’t want to travel to the canyon alone and die of heat stroke.
Fun tour

Perfect way to explore the Grand Canyon! Kudos to Mark, our knowledgeable guide, I learned so much about AZ in a day. The van was super-comfortable and we truly went to the best sites you can explore in a day! Book this trip!!!

Highly enjoyed this 10 hour tour with Scott as the guide. He was very personable and knowledgeable and it was obvious he knew all the lesser-known little things that made the tour stand out from the legions of others out there.
The Perfect Day!
Jennifer_P, Feb 2024
The perfect day trip! Everything was wonderfully planned out yet gave us enough time in each spot so nothing felt rushed. The sights were breathtaking! Our tour guide, Sheldon, was phenomenal! Very personable and extremely knowledgeable. We felt very lucky to have been on his tour.
Information overload but good tour
Lauren_C, Feb 2024
While the tour itself was well executed and our guide was very knowledgeable about Native American culture and history, it was info overload for our family. Our guide never stopped speaking the entire way there and it was almost impossible to digest the information he was imparting. We would’ve liked more information about the actual Grand Canyon but if he shared that information, it got lost in the info overload. I suggest our guide is better suited for groups without children. The day was fun, GC breathtaking and lunch very good!

Dear Valued Guest, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We thank you for your positive comments on the tour execution, the knowledgeable guide, the great lunch, and the breathtaking Grand Canyon. Here are some of our thoughts...I cannot recall a guest ever being unhappy with the information a professional guide provides. We find communication to be the key. Our guide has indicated that your group never pulled him aside and shared your review thoughts with him. Our experience is that it is better to communicate when we are still in a position to positively impact your experience. Additionally, as in all walks of life, some folks are better suited for family interaction. We frequently honor requests from guests in advance of their tour requesting a kid-friendly guide.
Great experience! Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful Way to Visit the Grand Canyon from Sedona
Dawn_G, Feb 2024
Great way to see the Grand Canyon from the Sedona area. Our guide (Jason) was knowledgeable and full of lots of insights and stories about the area. We were first on and last off for our traveling buddies - total of 7 passengers in the van. He talked about the Sedona area as we drove to pick up the other passengers - bonus! Lunch (part of the price) was also a win! I was the main driver on this, our first trip to the area, so I was grateful to just be able to relax and take in the view. The Grand Canyon is amazing.

Small Group Tour of GCNP
Alina_O, Jan 2024
I had never been to Grand Canyon National Park before, so I decided to book a small group tour with Viator, and I'm so glad I did. Sped of Ma Pa Tours was a fantastic tour guide - he was very knowledgeable about Navajo Nation and about the Grand Canyon's history and geology. Our guide was able to accommodate our small group of 6, which included participants whose age groups ranged from 20s/30s to senior citizens. At each stop, we were given the opportunity to take photos and walk around to take in the beautiful scenery. For lunch we stopped at the Cameron Trading Post, where we were given a chance to try authentic Navajo dishes, which encompassed beef stew and tacos. As someone who isn't a seasoned hiker, I felt that this tour perfectly suited my needs, and gave me a good look at the Grand Canyon. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to enjoy a laid-back, stress free day of breathtaking scenery and fascinating history! Thank you, Sped!
