Overview

Immerse yourself in Korean culture and enjoy an authentic home-cooking experience with a local chef at her home. Enjoy a guided visit to the local market to purchase fresh ingredients, sample tasty street food snacks, and learn about typical herbs and spices. Then, get hands-on as you create a selection of popular Korean dishes and master traditional cooking techniques. Finally sit down to enjoy a ‘Hanjeongsik’ dinner including your homemade dishes, along with additional side dishes and dessert.

Unique Korean cooking experience in a private home.

Jonghee was a lot of fun to be with. She was very friendly and welcoming into her home. She first took us to the local market and invited us to try some street food, while explaining about Korean food culture and seasons. Then we went to her kitchen where everything was perfectly laid out for us to start cooking. The recipes were easy to follow and the food was delicious and plentiful. Jonghee made sure to adjust for spice tolerance and the whole activity was very well organized to keep us all busy and have everything ready at the same time. She provided all the recipes and gave alternatives for substituting hard to find ingredients when back home. She also said we could always contact her with questions. And she taught us some basic Korean expressions. We all had a great time. I highly recommend this activity to anyone interested in Korean food and culture.

Pros: - a fun, educational class - very hands on class, you’re cooking the entire time. Cons: - Only con is that it’s at her home, which is up a few flights of stairs. Just flagging in case

Jung Hee is a FANTASTIC guide! She shares information you would not otherwise know, teaches you some basic Korean phrases, and makes cooking fun! We brought our two children (aged 6 and 10) and they both did well and loved her class!

Excellent tour of Mangwon market with Sarah. She taught us the different types of seasonings used in Korean dishes. Very fun, educational, and friendly atmosphere. The cooking part was fun as well and I highly recommend this tour and class to anyone who wants to have fun and wishes to learn how to make Korean dishes.
