What To Expect

If you’re a fan of the Iditarod Trail, this kennel tour and dog-sled ride is for you.

Meet a musher team at the Turning Heads Kennel, a professional kennel with more than 50 huskies. Get to know the teammates and the dogs, and watch a short multimedia presentation about the trail. Hear about the personal experiences on the trail, and then frolic and cuddle with the puppies.

After a short stroll through the property, climb aboard a sled for a 1.5-mile (2-km) ride pulled by huskies. Soak up the beautiful landscapes, and pass an active eagle’s nest. The ride resembles little the cold and sacrifice many mushers experience when out on the trail, but you’ll nonetheless gain an appreciation of what the teams must endure in completing the race.

End your tour by hanging out a little longer with the friendly dogs.

Great excursion
Wiley_H, Sep 2023
This was better than expected for the price, which was less expensive than what the cruise excursions would cost. Plenty of time to visit with adult and puppy dogs, and a long ride with the dogs pulling our wheeled "sled." We drove to the site, which was easy to find, but I think they do offer pickups.
Don’t miss a dog sled ride and holding puppies!

Very informative and fun riding the sled. The puppies were adorable and love my hat. They picked us up at our hotel which was needed with no transportation.
Something new and beyond your expectation.

Good clean fun - for dog lovers especially.

My wife & I enjoyed the tour by Calista - she knows her stuff! Then the ride was a thrill. Calista really has masted the control of her 9 dog team at a young age. Beautiful scenery also!
Worth it!

It was wonderful!!!!! Everyone was friendly and gave us a lot of interesting information. We loved petting the dogs. The absolute best part was the ride. It was exciting and thrilling at the same time. It may easily be the best part of our trip. I wanted to ride again!!!!!
