Amazing food tour with Gerry - he really showed us so much in the course of the day. Heaps of food, culture, history and great company. Can't recommend this tour highly enough. Definitely a better option - and better value - than the 3 hour tours.

Food tour in Singapore

At each of the three neighborhoods we visited our guide Gerry had us speak with local people. The food he ordered for us was delicious. Gerry was very knowledgeable and showed us what the neighborhoods looked like in the past.

would have to say this tour with Gerald (Gerry) was the best I have been on. The passion and knowledge he has is wonderful. He was very generous with his time and he's food choice were delicious. we were all entertained by he's stories and the love of he's community. picked us up at the hotel and sent us home is a grab car, would recommend this tour to all my friends, ask for Gerry best tour guide ever.

Gerry, the guide, was great. Took excellent care of everyone in the group. Native of Singapore with lots of information and opinions. We enjoyed the food of Little India in particular. The food in Chinatown was just okay--not a lot of flavor--but lots of it . All in all, though, it was a good experience.

World-class introduction to multicultural Singapore

When I booked this tour, I was under the impression that it covered food from three cultures: Chinese, Indian, and Malaysian. What I didn't anticipate was the immersive experience provided by our excellent guide, Gerry Tan. He shared so much history and so many cultural insights as we wound our way through Singapore to the various neighborhoods. High points for me were the opportunities to connect and talk with local people from different cultures at various points along the way: the halal meatcutter, the vendor sorting seed pods for soaking and grinding into sauce, the tailor, and others. The tour moved at a pace that gave me time to stop and do a bit of shopping. It offered my husband and me a richer experience than we could have imagined -- very memorable and highly recommended.

Worth every penny

Worth every single penny! He provided insight that only a local would know. He answered all our questions and was extremely sensitive to our food allergy needs. Picked us up from our hotel in a taxi and then we did a little walking with a cab ride back.

Great tour of three of Singapore's fascinating neighbourhoods. Led by Gerry, who proved to be both knowledgeable and entertaining we learnt a great deal while sampling far more great food and drink than we had expected. We couldn't eat it all! Totally recommend this tour.

Fabulous day exploring 3 neighbourhoods with Gerry. Super well organised, great communication from Gerry, all transport included. He was an excellent host with plenty of local knowledge... and the food was sensational. Much better than just doing a standard walking tour as enjoying food with our small group (max 8) of fellow travellers and Gerry was so enjoyable.

A Great Tour

Gerry has done a great job in pairing a taste of ethnic Singapore with its history. We throughly enjoyed our time with Gerry as he took us into Little India, Chinatown and Malay sections of Singapore via walking, the transit system and bus and sampled street food and the sights and sounds of each district while schooling and entertaining us. He promptly met us at our hotel and we joined 3 others to take our trip and then by taxi Gerry saw us back to our hotel. Gerry is very personable and it is evident that he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences in his home country. We highly recommend his tour not least of which is the effort that he puts into making it fun.

Gerry is a fabulous guide! He knows the neighborhoods we traveled to, knows the people at the various stops, and describes the foods and cultures with such clarity! In addition, he provides transportation to and from the locations so we did not have a chance to worry about getting lost. I would highly recommend this excursion if you like to experience authentic local cuisine!

Amazing Singapore

If you do only one tour of Singapore, make it this one. The 6 hour tour is planned and conducted by Gerry. He is a native of Singapore and very knowledgeable of its history, cuisine, and culture. You will experience authentic Indian, Malay, and Chinese food from local vendors. All of it excellent and in quantities that will preclude the need for dinner that day. You will visit all three ethnic neighborhoods and learn about their history and culture. One of the things I really enjoyed was that while it is a walking tour, you also travel by van,subway, and bus thereby experiencing Singapore's excellent transit systems. Gerry is a very capable and solicitous guide, in frequent communication with you the day or two before your tour, and checking constantly with you during the tour to get your feedback and preferences. It is also an excellent value, considering you won't need any other meals that day. I highly recommend!

We were fortunate to have Gerry as our guide. His knowledge of Singapore its multicultural history and its three ethnic areas brought Singapore to life. His engaging personality made this the best tour we have ever taken. Gerry was warm to us, and had obvious sincere relationships with the diverse people/merchants and restaurant staff he/we came upon. The hours passed too quickly. We loved the food; the stories Gerry told; and the “locals” we met. The food was great and plentiful. We enjoyed meeting 87 year old Charlie, and a restaurant worker who had heard he just became a father the day before. Gerry certainly made our trip to Singapore a most special one. We wished the world had more Gerry’s. Our Country could benefit greatly adopting some of the qualities of Singapore, as well as the great way of everyday life/living. Bottom line: Do this Tour!
