What a GREAT tour!! The ride was so much fun. Started out Clean and dry but soon got into the wet lands with mud flying up from the tires then a down pour of rain. Be sure to wear something you don't value much. You'll have a great time. The guide was awesome and most helpful.

Should have been 5 stars but was ruined by our guide.
Matthew_T, Feb 2024
The driving and scenery were fantastic. It was a ton of fun. We did not have any of the problems that some people have reported with equipment/tires. BRING GOGGLES. We wished for dust protection the entire time when one guest mentioned it to the guide he said that they have them for sale but that we should have brought our own. He said it was posted on the description but I can’t find it. He treated the guests like it was their fault they had problems. It was bad enough one pair got lost because they couldn’t see. Our guide got stuck in the mud going very slow so we were close together. He just peeled out until he got unstuck but we were right behind him and got covered in mud. He never said a word about it later while we were washing the mud off in the sea. Overall this should have been perfect but was tarnished by a guide that had probably just had a really long day and was tired of tourists.

Thank you for your feedback. Its difficult to understand how you would have got covered in mud from the guides tire wash when your instructions during your pre tour brief included "drive a minimum of 6 seconds behind the buggy in front of you". Also I'm not sure how others could have got lost because they could not see when there is always a lead and a backup buggy. Also did you communicate any of this information to your guide? Again we appreciate your prompt feedback and will follow up with your guide to understand exactly what happened.
Bald slick tires!
David_C, Jan 2024
Arrive for the trip on time it was raining so I was a little concerned after I inspected the mud buggy and all four tires were bald and slick. I asked how much of this tour would be on the road they said 50%… I thought for a minute and said, I don’t think I’m going to take this trip today. Please cancel me.

The guide was amazing. The vehicles were in top shape. We would love to go again on a longer tour... remember to get goggles

Mud buggies - No mud, no water or drinks as advertised. Poorly maintained vechicles no first aid kit on trip.

I went on this tour last week with 5 other people. It was not safe ! There were many things wrong with this trip. The guides were nice but not given much to work with on this tour. I had read the many different reviews and was hesitant to book it with my friends. We decided to try it because it lookied like it could be fun. We also felt more confident because it had a Viator badge of excellence. The first thing that is written on the tour description is that everyone has to pay 20 dollar fee for everyone to get to the place. We thought it was because of the distance but found out that it was only a 20 minute ride in a van each way. My group of 6 had to pay 120 dollars. It did not even drop us off or pick us up at the ship. That fee is in addition to the 130 dollar fee for the 2 and 1/2 hours. We got to the base camp. There was no water/drinks to be sold at the store where we signed our waviers. We read in the description ot the tour that they provided refreshments during a break, so we did not bring any water. The mud buggie tires have little tread, no brakes, and ours stalled if we slowed down to go over rocks. In order to be restarted, the guides used bare ended jumper cables. There was no mud! They explained after we got there that it is only muddy when it rains, and that hey can not predict that. I have been on other trips where they advertise mud so they flood areas if Mother Nature does not cooperate. Half way through the trip, my friendss wheel came off his vechicle and turned him into a tree. He tried to get out and the vehicle dragged him. He could have gotten seriously hurt. His arm was bleeding and his back was scraped up. The guides in the lead and trail vehicles did not have a first aid kit. There was one offered back at the base camp, an hour after the injuries. We were so thirsty by then that he decided to just clean himself up later and bandage his cuts. The excursion listing told us that we will see different land marks, however nothing was pointed out or explained during the tour. We drove through little villages, saw a lot of cattle. We stopped twice. When we stopped at the beautiful beach there still was no drink and no explanation of the area unless we asked. Our mouths were dry and caked with the dry dust even though we brought our own jscarfs to cover up our mouths. We returned to the base camp and there still was no water or soft drinks. They did not say anything to us when we got out of the vechicles like "Thank you for coming". So we went to find our driver. We begged our driver to stop to get a drink when we left there. We each gulped down 2 drinks each during the ride back. This tour has a lot of potential to improve. There are great trails and a beautiful beach to explore. Unfortunately, the way that it was run when we went - it was not safe and everyone in our group said they felt it was unsafe and that we were overcharged for what was included. Everyone in the group said they would never do that tour again.

Thank you for this detailed response. We will investigate why no water was offered on your trip. Please note Antigua is going through a severe drought at this time and where we usually would pump water to fill certain parts of the trail we have to be considerate and reserve the water in the ponds for grazing livestock. We apologize that there was no natural mud on that day. We will take this indirect advice and make a note in our tour description alerting our future guests of this natural situation so they can plan accordingly.
Seeing Antigua from a different view

Thrilling experience through the backroads of Antigua! Our family of 4 had a bumpy, blast driving the dune buggies across the hillside lands. Tips: Travel light. We only brought a sack pack with one towel to wipe ourselves down at the end, sunscreen and money and a phone packed in a plastic bag as they would have gotten wet or muddy. Next trip - a go pro camera with a head strap would have been fun to capture everything along the way. It is not a trip that stops along the way. We stopped at two points and our guides took our family picture otherwise non stop driving. We would do it again!
Don’t book it.
Malasia_T, Sep 2021
The trip began 46 minutes late because they were repairing the buggies. Throughout the trip the batteries on the buggies kept dying, the staff had to jump start them on the trial a number of times. Which took away from the experience. In addition, three of the buggies broke down. Which resulted in one couple having to drive one of the workers. The staff is nice but nothing else lived up to my expectations. In addition, I went against the negative things I heard prior to support the local people. I am requesting a refund.
A fun but disappointing experience
John_V, Jul 2021
Let's start with the good- it was definitely a fun adventure as we scooted around the area on Antigua. At times it was a little slow, but at times it was fast, and fun. We drove up some steep hills and embankments and coasted down some steep rocky roads, frequently keeping to offroad trails that this adventure was designed for. The fact that it was very dry is no fault of the operators- it hadn't rained in a while, and we spent a lot of time clearing kicked up dust and dirt from our eyes as we drove. However, there were some problems with the tour. We were grouped with 2 other couples. We were given warnings about how easily the Buggy's could overhead, and he pointed to 5 buggies whose engines had blown due to the heat. As they started the vehicles, one of the workers came to our vehicle, popped the hood, and manually wired the fan to the battery- which had to be manually connected/disconnected the few times we stopped (like at the beach). But it wasn't just our buggy that had problems- the buggy for one couple had a sticky accelerator, so they switched out. Another vehicle lost a wheel about 1/4 into the trip. Lastly, the adventure seemed rather short- we expected more driving time and were a little disappointed at the end. Overall, these vehicles seem to be poorly maintained and at risk of falling apart during your adventure. Although we did have fun, we did not feel secure in this adventure, and it is certainly over-priced for the value we received.

Joel And his crew were terrific. I had an exhilarating ride, except for the jibes that I couldn’t keep up 🤤 (just kidding). A good time was had by all. loved it! Not for the faint at heart and those who don’t like to get down and dirty. highly highly recommend.

So much fun!!! Went off roaring, and got muddy then went to a beach that was gorgeous to wipe off. Found the coolest shells and got to go through the forests on the island!

A pulse-driving tour that shows you areas of Antigua not easily accessed by other means.
John_D, Mar 2020
Hands down, you should not miss this tour. Picture speeding across dirt roads carved through the beautifully green hills of Antigua, racing through the jungle like an off-road Indiana Jones, and splashing through pools of water. All that while you have the biggest smile painted across your face. It's an absolute ride of adrenaline set against the untapped beauty of the island. However, you must know exactly what you're getting into, as this tour is not for everyone. If you want to break up the relaxing, and sometimes boring, nature of resort life, then this is the tour for you. You will not be disappointed. In fact, my wife and I had such a great time that we booked a second tour as soon as we got back to our room. Be advised, you will get wet and muddy, which is awesome, if you're into that. The fun will only grow with each pool of water that you splash through, and your muddy clothes are a badge of honor when comparing to your partner's at the end of the ride. We recommend wearing clothes that you do not really care about, because they will get soaked. I wore men's bathing suit shorts and a ratty t-shirt. Though the mud will completely wash out once you do a load of laundry. You should also wear some kind of face covering, such as a bandanna. That will help keep the mud out of your mouth. Also, be sure to wear some sort of eyewear, sunglasses at the minimum. Joel and Denzel are both amazing. They both really help to make this tour standout even more. We felt completely safe during the entire tour following Denzel on the carefully mapped out trail. He even took us to a new area on our second tour, which was cool to see another side of Antigua. All in all, not only is this tour a pulse-driving ride, but it will also show you areas of Antigua that aren't easily accessed any other way. In fact, about half way through, you end up on a secluded beach with nobody else around. We had an amazing time, and we cannot recommend taking this tour enough. Do it, you will have a blast!
