What To Expect

Meet your private guide on arrival in Livorno cruise port and relax in your private Mercedes minivan on the journey to Pietrasanta.

On arrival, follow your guide on a walking tour of the historic town and hear about the famous artists — including Michelangelo — who have passed through over the centuries. Learn more about the town’s art heritage with a visit to the Bozzetti Sculpture Museum and explore the artisan’s quarter, where you can peek into the workshops and watch the artists at work.

Perhaps stop to enjoy a coffee (own expense) in the lively Piazza del Duomo, before heading out of town to discover the Carrara marble quarries. After lunch (own expense) in the quarryman's village of Colonnata, admire the prized Carrara marble for yourself as you drive through the spectacular cliffs and tunnels of marble.

If you choose to take a guided quarry tour (40 minutes, 10€ per person), you can venture inside the working quarry to see the ancient process of cutting and pulling the marble blocks, and step inside the quarry known as the ‘Marble Cathedral’. Alternatively, opt for a 4x4 tour (10€ per person) and drive into the mountains to explore the dramatic open-air quarries and see one of the filming locations from James Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’.

On the journey back to Livorno, stop by the Colli di Luni wine region and visit a family-run winery, where you can stroll the vineyards and enjoy an expert-led wine tasting (15€ per person). Be sure to sample the region’s renowned Vermentino white wine.

Back in Livorno, your tour ends with drop-off back at the cruise port.
