Pickup details

Take the shuttle provided by the port of Livorno to COACH PARKING (the "scambiatore") which is a few minutes' ride inside the port. Do NOT take a shuttle to the city center, pay directly on the spot 5 euro for the ride. Please allow at least 15 minutes from the time you disembark to get to coach parking as the number of shuttles can be limited.

What To Expect

When your cruise ship docks at the port of Livorno, meet your guide and step aboard your transport for the journey to Pisa. After a stop at Piazza dei Miracoli to see the city’s three key sights: the UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Duomo, and Baptistery. Make the most of your free time here to sightsee independently, and perhaps strike a pose for the perfect photo by the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Proceed to Florence, passing through stretches of scenic Italian terrain, arrive in the Tuscan capital for your tour.

Admire the Renaissance architecture that flanks the picture-perfect streets, and stretch your legs on a stroll around Piazza del Duomo. The square is home to Florence Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori, so turn your attention to its colorful marble exterior and its crowning glory: the terracotta cupola, Brunelleschi's Dome. Learn how the iconic cupola was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, a 13th-century architect, and took some 170 years to complete.

Your next stop is Piazza dell Signoria, home to a copy of 'David,' the celebrated statue by Michelangelo. Amble through Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air area of sculptures to see examples of Florentine art in the great outdoors.

Walk onward to the Ponte Vecchio, the age-old bridge that has become of the city’s most iconic sights. Pose for photos, and then stop by the strikingly beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce.

Lunch at your own expense in Florence.

In the afternoon, return to your vehicle for the ride back to port.

What a fantastic tour. Stephanie is so knowledgeable, and her love for her job and country is very apparent. She is an expert in the history of Pisa and Florence and has so many related stories that you are constantly entertained the entire day. I have been to Florence before without a tour, and I got so much more out of it this time around, knowing what I was looking at. The tour guide was easy to find just following the instructions provided, and we were back in plenty of time for the cruise ship curfew. There was never a doubt that we would make it back on time.

Seeing Pisa during sunrise with this tour was beautiful. We had a rainy time in Florence but Stefani did a great job herding us from awnings to dry areas to doorways and we still saw everything! We enjoyed this tour.

Our driver for the day was excellent as was the guide we had on the walking tour of Florence. Florence was lovely as was Pisa and fortunately the crowds were not as bad as they would be during peak season

Stephania was an amazing guide, taking us through Pisa and Florence. It is a full day tour, but it goes quick. It wasn't rushed, and you'll have some free time in Florence for lunch. Overall worth it thanks to our guide.

The instructions on how/where to meet were very good. Our drivers were friendly & professional. We started by stopping at a great place to take pics overlooking Florence & then we went into the city where we met up with a guide, Stefania (sp?) and she was lovely! Very passionate and knowledgeable. We saw many things but also had time to shop & eat as well. Then we went to Pisa & had free time to roam around unguided. This was one of my favorite tours in Europe! Highly recommend.

Did not get what we paid for

I'm not sure what happened but what we got was not what we paid for. I was expecting a tour of Pisa and Florence with some type of guide who would explain what we were looking at. First, the guide was late picking us up. Then the tour wasn't actually a tour but more like just transportation to Pisa and Florence and then do the rest on our own. We were disappointed in how the tour turned out. Eduardo was under the impression that his job was to just pick us up and drop us off in each place. On the way back to the port from Florence, we clocked him doing almost 150km an hour. Maybe that's normal driving in Italy, but with a small van of passengers, that's not ok. I've done tours with Viator all over the world and this has been one of the most disappointing ones.

Ciao, Nattie Thank you for your feedback. Upon some investigation, it appears Viator's description -- written by their experts, not us -- is responsible for some confusion. The description says "see the sights of Pisa and Florence with a local guide". If you didn't read the What's Included or Additional Info sections, you might have missed some important information. In these sections, we specify that if there are more than 8 passengers, the service is carried out in a minibus with a driver and separate guide. If there are 8 or fewer passengers, however, as was the case on the day of your excursion, the service will be led by an English-speaking driver. The nice thing about the service being carried out with a minivan and driver is that we can take the vehicle right into the historic centres of Florence and Pisa, which saves a lot of walking time. But the driver is limited by law regarding what they can do. They cannot accompany you on foot; in fact, the law prohibits them from even explaining anything to you once you step out of the vehicle. The driver can give you a little overview in each location, explaining the points of interest while you're in the van, and then you have time to explore on your own. This is how the service works with 8 or fewer passengers. So Edoardo did carry out the service properly. Regarding your other comments about a late pickup and driving too fast, we are going to get your driver's comments and then I'll contact you by phone. Worst tour ever. If this was the first time I booked with Viator, I would never book again. The driver, provided no information and it seemed like it was his fist time doing it. Florence had an event going on in the city so we had to walk 40 minutes to city centre. Driver intended to drop us off for 4 hours and then pick us up later. I insisted he show us the landmarks outlined on the itinerary, he relented and showed us the various landmarks, with 0 information. If I wanted an “on your own tour”, I would have booked it for significantly less $$$.

Dear Client, Please be advised that drivers in Italy are not permitted to accompany clients once they leave the vehicle, nor are they even permitted to explain anything once you're out of the vehicle. This is the law in Italy. Your driver took a huge risk upon himself to make you happy because of the road closures. He would have been within his rights under to simply indicate where the city center was and let you tour independently; instead, he accompanied you the entire day, despite the possibility of receiving a fine. You visited everything on the itinerary, notwithstanding the impediments that presented themselves. A driver is not a guide, so it only stands to reason that the explanations they give are not as detailed as what you'd get with a guide. But there is a difference between no information and basic information. I spoke with your driver; he had no trouble reiterating all the things he told you. Maybe it wasn't the quantity of information you were expecting but it is certainly not "zero" information. Regarding bathroom breaks, these are not a timed part of the itinerary. If a person needs to use the restroom, all they have to do is ask. It's not the driver's responsibility to magically know when that should happen. Your driver also said that you expressed many times during the day your enthusiasm for the places that you were visiting and the way in which he was carrying out the service in spite of the difficulties (that were not his fault). The driver said that all the parties on the tour gave him a good tip. I have to say that it doesn't add up to me that you would be happy and enthusiastic during the service and tip the driver well, only to now be complaining and asking for a refund. Stephanie was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Toscanini and its history. Our ship docked late, a couple arrived late and we waited for them, all which made the trip too short and seemed really rushed. Florence was very hot and there were so many tourists, and we were disappointed that there was only two hours to spend there…moving very quickly and not having a chance to see the things we really wanted to see. Not a tour I would recommend. In my opinion It would have been much better if we had skipped Pisa and went straight to Florence because there isn’t enough time to do both.
