What To Expect

After pickup from your hotel in Ushaia, travel to Tierra del Fuego National Park, watching the scenery change as you pass the urban outskirts. Pass beautiful bodies of Patagonian water and soon come upon the majestic Mt. Susana. The old prison, now the site of the End of the World Train, marks the departure point for the vehicle or train option.

End of the World Train Option:
Board the train and enjoy the views as the railway takes you across peat bogs and bridges before making a stop at Macarena Waterfall Station where you learn about the region's indigenous people, the Yamana. Climb to a scenic viewpoint, then continue your sightseeing train journey through the park, ending up at the old sawmill.

Continue your excursion towards glimmering Ensenada Bay, where you see the rocky Redonda and Estorbo Islands, as well as the majestic, snowy Sampaio Mountains. At Roca Lake, meander along the gushing Lapataia River towards Condor Hill, then stop at the otherworldly Green and Black Lagoons. After your adventure has finished, you'll be dropped back at your hotel in Ushaia.

Vehicle Option:

After spending time in the now-defunct prison turned End of the World Train Station, drive through the scenic valley towards Ensenada Bay. View the Sampaio Mountains and the Redonda and Estorbo Islands. Your next stop is Roca Lake and a journey on foot along the Lapataia River towards Condor Hill. After moving on to see the Green Lagoon and Black Lagoon, visit a growing peat bog. When your excursion is over, you'll be returned to your Ushaia hotel.

      Just okay
      Diana_K, Feb 2024
The train was dull. The post office was closed when we stopped by (it opened ~45 minutes later). Tierra del Fuego is beautiful, but I would recommend against the large tour bus route. The guide shared interesting information about the area, but overall I felt it wasn't worth the price.
      Scenic beauty
      David_K, Jan 2024
This tour had three excellent components. Today's tour started with a 2+ hour bus ride through the beauty of the National Park with several opportunities to get off the bus for scenic views and photos. The next step was boarding the train in the park to head back to town. We found the recorded narration very informative and interesting - the story of the founding of Ushuaia as a penal colony. What made this package excellent was our guide Pablo. He seemed to relate to each person in the tour group on a personal basis. He provided clear, interesting information in 3 languages in an entertaining manner. We've been with guides all around the world, and Pablo is one of the best.
Don’t change the date or pickup location
      Nicole_C, Dec 2023
I changed the date and no one picked me up. When I inquired, they notified me that I would be contacted a day prior to the trip regarding pick up location. I told them to please cancel the trip, as it had already passed and I was not picked up. Again, they sent me a message stating that they are excited to have me on board.

We had such a good time in this park especially with the tall colors and sparkling lakes and creeks. Adriana our guide was able to guide us well through the whole trip. The train ride is likewise amazing.
      Not an English tour
      DaLonna_S, Mar 2023
I reserved an English tour and I was the only one on the bus who spoke English. The tour was in Spanish.

The park is lovely and the train ride was very interesting, mainly to learn about the history of the area and particularly the penal colony. The train is very "cozy" - not terribly comfortable for "plus-size" passengers. The stop at the end of the Pan-American highway was fun and interesting. Our guide was very informative and pleasant.
      Enjoyable

This tour gave us a snapshot of the National park and we learned about the prisoners when on the train. Very enjoyable experience
      Not as Advertised
      Aubrey_L, Nov 2022
DO NOT BOOK. This advertisement is a scam. It says your park entrance fee is included…then after you pay Viator, it magically isn’t included anymore. It is an extra $22 per person in cash, and no one will care that you booked a tour that said it included the entrance fee. We did not get picked up at our hotel either… we had to walk down to the tourist dock. Find a different tour to see the park. The train ride is also stupid, but you either ride the train or sit on the bus while others ride. An entire hour of the tour is wasted waiting in line for train tickets and then waiting for the train. Once you get on the train, it is an hour of fields…nothing scenic. All the incredible mountain pictures you see advertised…you won’t see anything like them on this tour. Just hills, trees, and lakes. I requested a $44 reimbursement from Viator for their lie, but I’ve received no response. You are better off booking tours in person once you get to Ushuaia. There’s tons of options and no middle man.
Was very boring, not worth the money
      Angela_T, Nov 2022
Boring, could of seen more, was boring, not enough to see , didn’t really see much for the money, tour guid didn’t explain enough english Boring tour
Good tour but skip train ride
      Diana_S, Nov 2022
The park was beautiful. I think for the price, the train ride was not that impressive. Touring from the bus would have been enough
      Read the fine print
      trishfullagar, Nov 2022
This was both Spanish and English tour - Spanish first, then English. It was not small group either. The park is worth it but do it with a smaller group
      Excellent trip
      Claire_C, Oct 2022
Excellent trip, would highly recommend. Although it is a quick trip around, you do get time to stop off and have a wander. The tour leader was fabulous. As I was the only English speaking traveller, I got a personal commentary.

Scenery was nice - but not spectacular. The lines of tour buses going to the same places was endless.
Train, and "end of earth" stop were great
      JF1, Feb 2020
Most importantly, the tour was actually 8:15-1:45ish, which made it very tight getting back on our cruise ship in time. Also, confusing as to time we were being picked up. Viator is not the trip operator, and its difficult to get operator to respond. Actual tour itself was nice. Train ride fun.
      End of The World.
      GARY_J, Feb 2020
Train ride is fun. There is an audio tape that plays whilst you travel the short line. Gives an extensive history of the train, prison and the settlement of the area. our guide spoke in Spanish and English. She was well informed and brought numerous insight about the park and it’s inhabitants.
      End of world train ride

The tour was too good. Our local provider was Romba Sur. The guide was well versed and kept us entertained. Its a must visit when in ushuaia.
Tierra del Fuego National Park Half-Day Tour with Optional End of the World Train Ride
      Eric_L, Dec 2019
The trip was very enjoyable and I liked the guide. However, I was quite disappointed how it was managed. I called the local agent(the number you provided) two days prior to confirm the hotel pickup. However non one came at 8:00am and I asked the hotel people to help me call the local agent(at Ushuaia) and we were told that they thought that I was joining a tour on 12/10. Clearly there is miscommunication between your local agent(probably in Buenos Aires) and Ushuaia company. Finally they sent someone and met me at 8:30. We had five people in the group and everyone spoke Spanish. Though the guide could speak English but clearly this is not an English-spoken group. I was quite disappointed how it was managed.
      Not worth it
      Sarah A, Dec 2019
The train was small, the guide only translated 20% of the tour into English. Would skip and grab a cab to hike the park on our own if we had to do it again.
      Beautiful National Park
      Katelyn_H, Jun 2019
The National Park was amazing! The train and the history was fascinating, I'm glad I did it...but I got more out of the National Park.
