At first, they provided all necessary gear (e.g. hiking boots, gloves, crampons, etc.) with no extra charges, they were in good conditions that gives us confidence about the hike on a rainy day. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and taken very good care on each one of us. They are willing to bring us exploring different areas of the glacier (instead of just following the crowd), so that we can take good pictures of the glacier. They even surprised us by building stairs on the spot, and letting us to go inside an ice canyon. Overall, the tour lasted for more than 4 hours, it is really an amazing experience.

We chose Glacier Encounter as our tour guide for a bucket list, adventure filled trip to Iceland during August 2023. We were not disappointed! Right from the start, they checked on us via text to ensure a timely arrival for the Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike. Once geared up, they went through safety checks and brief explanations on what to expect during the tour. Very knowledgeable and personable, the guides ensured that my two little ones (ages seven and nine) were both captivated by the raw beauty of the glacier as well as entertained along the hike. From breathtaking vistas to refilling our water bottles with pure glacial melt water, we loved every minute of the trip and always felt safe. Insider tip: if you know and can sing along to the top three songs of the movie "Frozen" they might just take you to a secret location: Sólheimajökull cafe / Ice cave, complete with a lounging hammock, "Snickers" candy bars for snacks, snow cones, and a sampling of adult beverages (Floki whiskey) to keep you comfy and cozy! I joined this private tour with my family. The Tour guide was very nice, talented, and experienced. He was very patient with my two little boys and answered them thousand questions during the tour. The hiking was a little challenging for my two little boys but the tour guide provided a very safe hiking experience for us. We all had lots of fun and it is definitely the most unique and unforgettable experience we had in Iceland.

We are best friends for like 100 years and decided to take a trip to Iceland in May 2023. We had a great time--and the true highlight was hiking the glacier with Jökull and Lucas. They were smart, funny, and really made us feel safe as we trekked up, climbed into ice caves, peered down crevices, and even hanging out in a hammock. Look no further for your guides-- Glacier Encounter is the best choice. We loved every moment! 100% recommend.
