European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM)

Carrer de la Barra de Ferro, 5, Barcelona, 08003

The Basics

Housed in an 18th-century mansion, MEAM’s collection is divided into three parts: contemporary realist art, modern sculpture from the 20th century, and Catalan sculpture of the 20th century. Many of the works on display are from living artists supported by the museum’s parent foundation. Architecture tours of the city sometimes stop for a look at the building’s facade, and it’s easy to stop in to tour the collection before or after a walking tour of the medieval El Born neighborhood.
