Cairo is known as the "city of a thousand minarets," and that's reflected in its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A journey into Islamic Cairo is a journey into the city’s past, from Fustat, Egypt’s first Muslim capital, to the 1,000-year-old walled city, the Cairo Citadel, founded by 12th-century leader Saladin, and beyond.
Elarya proved to be an excellent tour guide, providing informative insights into the Islamic Cairo Mosques. Later, she skillfully guided us through the bazaar, helping us find the best-priced souvenirs.

The trip was really interesting and was great to see a different side to Cairo. There is certainly a lot to see - it would have been good to see a few more churches/mosques as there were more in the area and we were ahead of schedule - so finished the tour way before the 4 hours
We had a driver only experience and, even then, the driver (mohammed) was very very informative and became our very knowlegable guide. He had a great attitude and punctuality was great! He is a true asset to your company.
We had the most amazing time with Asmaa syofi and we couldn’t asked for a better tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the Egyptian culture, she takes pride in her craft as a tour guide. As soon as we got in the car instantly we felt like family. Please share this review with her and tell her we appreciate her for an amazing tour.
Egyptian museum is a must see, very very interesting and the guide was excellent in explaining different parts and exhibitions.
Seeing Coptic and Islamic Cairo was also incredible needed a guide for sure
Perfect from start to finish
After a rocky start (we were looking for a bus and we were only two booked from our ship), we hooked up with our guide, driver and air conditioned sedan. The overnight aspect was wonderful in that it saved hours of travel. We saw the pyramids, sphnix, the Memphis Museum and more on the first day. All the sights of Cairo on the second. Provided meals were outstanding. Hotel charming, clean, well maintained and comfortable. Guide was super informative and very helpful to both my wife and with our mobility issues. Cars ( we were in three) were modern and clean. Drivers were professional and helpful loading my wife’s rollator walker in and out at each stop. Very nice experience.
I chose this tour because in the description it was all about the mosques, so I thought that 4 hours visiting the oldest and most impressive mosques was exactly the way I wanted to spend my day.
Now don’t get me wrong, if you like shopping maybe that’s exactly what you prefer to do, I chose the tour to avoid shopping and to see the mosques only. When in the car the guide mentioned we would be visiting a few mosques and then we will go to the old market where I could shop, I mentioned that I wasn’t sure I would have the energy for that after the mosques... Said and done, the driver took us to the old city where it turned out the first thing we did is basically went to the old city to shop. So they took us to shop first, I guess, while we had energy to do that.
Again if that’s what you want, sure go for it. I voted for not recommending the tour to my friends, simply because my friends, like me, don’t do shopping tours
The day we went for a tour turned out to be not the best one, due to the security increase in all the mosques so we weren’t allowed in, the soldiers turned us away. Which was a good thing anyway, because half an hour after that, our guide showed us the news about crowd protests erupting exactly where we’ve been turned down by the security guards
On the positive side, we did manage to go to one of the mosques and that was a great experience.
Bisho the guide did the best he could, shared all the stories and made us feel safe.
Having said that i can’t get rid of the feeling that the company could have predicted and foreseen the situation. After all, these are locals and know what’s happening and how dangerous the situation is, knowing that we wouldn’t be able to visit the places we wanted to see, knowing that we could be endangered just walking around, one could think that the most responsible thing to do would be to explain the dangers to us and to cancel the tour at the early stage. We were lucky not to end up in the middle of unpredictable crowd protests, I’m not sure that’s the most desirable experience once wants to have, when travelling with children/family
8 unforgettable days discovering ancient Egyptians
The schedule of planned activities was changed at last minute because of unforeseen issues, but the provider managed to beautifully rearrange the trip and it even became more fascinating.
Accommodations were all perfect, variety of food always ensured, timing amazingly respected to allow the visits of sites and monuments in the best conditions.
The guide Naggar drove us through the history of ancient Egypt: knowledgable, pragmatic, flexible and friendly, we spent amazing time cruising the Nile.
The awesome, spectacular sites were truly breathtaking and unbelievable considering the limited tools the Egyptians had. Our tour coordinator, Hussein, was both efficient and friendly—taking care of every detail and aspect of the tour. Our rour guide in Aswan and Luxor, Mohamed “Mo” Mahmud was very knowledgeable, competent, generous and truly helped bring the history, personalities and structures to life. He actually could be a lecturer on Egyptian civilization, dynasties, art and geology! Seham, our tour guide in Cairo, was equally informative, knowledgeable and really friendly. She accommodated our requests by making a few stops to buy jewelry, dates and Egyptian cotton products.
I also now have discovered two female leader-models—Hatshepsut and Tiye—strong, smart and women of vision.
This tour was worth every dime and more —even at 104 F temperatures!
