Charlotte trip ideas
Lined by restaurants and retail shops on two sides, the Green is a popular spot for lunch, particularly among Uptown workers. Look for the giant stacked bronze book sculptures, quotes from famous authors, and signposts to other Charlottes and literary named cities around the world. Kids will enjoy splashing and playing around the fountain with giant fish sculptures as spouts. Its proximity to the Levine Center for the Arts makes it easy to enjoy the Green on a visit to the Mint Museum Uptown, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture, or the Knight Theater. A stop at the Green is also included in a number of Charlotte sightseeing tours.
The Green is located between S. Tryon Street and S. College Street. Parking is available at the Green parking garage, located underneath the park. It’s also accessible by the LYNX Blue Line and Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS).
The Green is open 24 hours a day. It’s a very popular spot at lunchtime during the week, when seats may be hard to come by. On the weekends, it’s a popular spot with families. Visit at other times for a more leisurely experience.
The Green borders the Levine Center for the Arts on one side, and the Charlotte Convention Center on the other. It’s also close to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and the Epicentre, a mixed-use entertainment and retail complex.
