A ride that takes place aboard a boat that we will board at the Cahuaré jetty, with some luck you can observe native species of the Canyon and a great diversity of birds and flora. During the trip you can see a waterfall considered one of the most beautiful natural jewels of Chiapas, the Christmas tree-shaped waterfall, 250 meters high, was created because the water polished the stone, the same moisture caused that the moss would grow, which allowed the pine shape to be created. During the rainy season it is a natural attraction that any visitor who board a boat and travels through the waters of Sumidero Canyon can admire.

Great Canyon Trip
We had a great experience, other than the boat driver was driving the boat erratic (swaying back and forth) to please some of the guests. He was however very knowledgeable about the canyon.

Nice day in the canyon
We first did two viewpoints of the canyon from above and afterwards we went on the boat through the canyon. Wonderful! Our captain was very knowledgeable about the canyon and the species living there. He let us see monkeys, a crocodile and a iguana. The boat ride ended in Chiapa de Corso where we had about 1h30 of free time which was frankly too long. It wasn't really appealing to have lunch there so we decided to have lunch back in Sant Cristóbal.

Really enjoyable day with Javier and Jorge. Great informative boat ride through the canyon, lunch stop at Corzo and then onto San Cristobal.

We booked the 6 h tour...
We booked the 6 h tour without the viewpoints (miradores) but found ourselves on a 10 h tour with miradores which was not clear to us in the beginning. If you are staying in San Cristobal book the tour at one of the many tour companies von the street "Real de Guadeloupe", it only costs half of the price here, which means 600 MXN = 30 €. The canyon is absolutely amazing. I would always do the boat trip again. Chiapas is nice. A stay of 1-2 h is sufficient.
