The best way to explore is on foot; history-focused walking tours reveal the Flemish Baroque architecture, and former customs houses, and point out canal-side restaurants. This district is also a departure point for scenic boat tours. Audio tours let you learn about local history while wandering at your own pace.

Solo traveler ... good way to get an overview of the city!!! If I was staying in Ghent I would have taken the evening tour as well. Guide has so much to share. Adjusts to questions well but kept the group moving. A lot of interesting facts so much so that I came back to spend a second day here.
