Sarawak’s oldest national park, Bako National Park packs a lot of action into just 10 square miles (27 square kilometers) of land. Seven different ecosystems, including rain forest and mangroves, are home to wildlife from long-nosed proboscis monkeys to orchids, carnivorous pitcher plants, bearded pigs, and mudskippers (“walking” fish).

Day trip to remember.
Had a lovely day with my guide Jaybee. He was very knowledgable about all the flora and fauna we saw in the jungle. He went above and beyond. Highly recommend.

Well-organised tour.
Well-organised tour. I was contacted by whatsapp by the tour guide (JayBee) the evening before the trip to confirm the pick-up time from our hotel, and we were driven from our hotel to the Bako national park jetty, and then sent by speedboat to the national park itself. From there we were given the option of what level of difficulty trail we wanted to go on. We chose an easier trail for my mum's benefit, and we still managed to see a variety of wildlife including silver-leafed monkeys, long-tailed macaques, proboscis monkeys, a viper, butterflies, spiders, terminites nests, crabs... Part of the walk was on boardwalk planks but the last part of the trail was on a track through the jungle. We finished our hike at the beautiful Tanjung Paku beach where we were picked up by speedboat and shown the sea stacks from the water. We opted to return to Kuching for a late lunch with our guide rather than have it at the canteen in the national park headquarters in order to give us more options. Our guide JayBee was very knowledgeable about the history and nature of Sarawak and gave us lots of information about Kuching and Sarawak throughout the day,

Great Bako Hike
Jey Ha (I am sure I don't spell the name correctly) was an incredible guide. He went us through the best paths of Bako, introducing us numerous of plants and animals. He also had an amazing timing, feeling and skills to help us spot the wildlife. We have seen Viper, Silver leaf, Macaques, Proboscis monkeys, wild Boars and many more in just a day. He is also a master of Malaysian cultural explaining us and sharing us stories from tribes across Borneo. He offered us options and flexibility, but following all his recommendations was worth it. I wish we had more days to take more tours with him. Definitely recommended!

A must do in Kuching!
Pretty cool tour. Our guide picked us up from the hotel and brought us to take a private boat to the national park. Due to the low tide we had to wait 1.5 hours at the pier, though. I wonder if that could've been avoided, i.e. if we could have been picked-up a little bit later (I coild have ised the extra sleep). The boat ride was smooth, then we walked in the forest looking for monkeys (we saw several silver-leaf monkeys, close-up, and we also got lucky and managed to see proboscis monkeys, although they were quite far away). We also saw bearded boars and "giant lizards". After the lunch break (included in the price) we walked some more, through a forest-path, and ended up on a beach. There, our boat was waiting for us and took us back to the starting point. Pur guide then dropped us off at our hotel again.
