Dating from between 2900 and 2600 BC, Avebury is the world’s largest Neolithic stone circle. Originally composed of three stone circles—the largest of which comprised 98 standing stones (though only 27 now remain)—Avebury is truly immense. Though the function of Avebury is not fully understood, it was likely used for pagan ceremonies.

Avebury and Stonehenge
Avebury was great even though the weather was cold and a little damp. Stonehenge is magnificent. Our driver Michel was I for and interesting. A terrific day.

Glad we went with Viator/Anderson
Richard was a fantastic guide! Lunch at the Red Lion in Avebury was great, but we didn’t have enough time to eat AND see the museum or walk on the embankment. Stonehenge was amazing, of course.

Excellent tour by a fantastic guide, Richard!
We enjoyed this tour immensely, our tour guide, Richard, was very funny and bought fantastic humour and knowledge to the tour, even on places we were just passing through. Would highly recommend this tour and company to anyone as it was extremely informative and fun
