What To Expect

After hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan, travel through the English countryside toward the ancient Kingdom of Wessex, to one of England’s most mysterious landmarks. Learn about the mystifying history of Stonehenge as you listen to commentary from your guide.

Begin the tour at Salisbury Plain, home to Stonehenge. Look out on a landscape scattered with stone circles and burial chambers more than 5,000 years old, and hear theories surrounding the mysterious scene. You'll also have time to stroll the grounds and take photos.

Continue to the small town of Glastonbury, where King Arthur’s sword was reputedly created. Delve into the region’s rich history with your guide and ascend to the summit of Glastonbury Tor to see landmarks such as St. Michael’s Church from the hilltop.

Stroll the Chalice Well Gardens to discover the biblical legends that shroud the enclave and then break for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense). Head to Glastonbury Abbey to pay your respects to King Arthur and Queen Guinevere in their final resting places.

Next, travel to the village of Avebury, home to charming thatched-roof cottages and some of the largest megalithic stone circles in the world. Marvel at these huge monuments that were hauled into place thousands of years ago. Then, relax during the return journey back to London, where the tour concludes.

A wonderfull and rich day trip
Aurlie_B, Apr 2024
Very pleasant and rich journey for a day trip. I thought that would be a lot and, for sure, Glastonbury would deserve at least a whole day to discover its monument treasures, but the team (Guide & driver), managed perfectly the timing of the day so that we could do the whole trip in a day and have beautiful time with our very kind and efficient guide as well as some times on our own at every steps. The sun was with us and contributes to make the whole a beautiful, magic day and a very nice souvenir. Small group format also very appreciated. Thanks again and bravo to the team!
Very enjoyable tour

Rushed

Packed too many places on one trip. Should be done in 2 days, or skip the hike up to the Tor. So rushed no time for even a bathroom break or have a sit down lunch.
A Tour Far Beyond Expectations
Jeffrey_L, Oct 2022
This trip was simply magical. From the moment we met our guide, Tony, the day was amazing. While a very long driving tour, Tony’s knowledge and humor made the time fly by, but when on-site there was not one moment of feeling rushed. And,yet, we still got back to London (in Friday traffic) early! As for the locations on this tour: Each was far more interesting and exciting than we ever expected - made even more possible due to the insights and stories of our guide. With a day of both rain and (sun) shine, each location revealed their dynamic arrays of mystery and awe: Avebury was chilling and beautiful in the light rain, Glastonbury was breathtaking and powerful with parting clouds and Stonehenge was dramatic and fascinating with nearly clear skies that allowed spreading shadows from the stones to punctuate its structure. (Even though we thought Stonehenge might be anticlimactic, we we’re wrong. When you are there, it’s just different and you feel it immediately! Never mind all of the cool extra things we never knew, explained and pointed out by our guide). Thank you so much for an experience way, way, way beyond expectations and a huge shout-out to Tony who made our day extremely memorable!
Amazing trip

Our driver (Tony) was fantastic and very knowledgeable. A lot of time in vehicle but we loved all the sites. More time in Glastonbury would have been great.
Best tour guide and amazing itinerary!

Chalice Well Garden......and the Pagan Temple
Christie_F, Mar 2020
We had the best day out ever! Tony was our awesome tour guide and since it was a small group I feel like we got a lot of information and opportunities that we would have missed in a larger group. Prepare yourself for a long day though and there is no way to spend quality time at most of the stops, just to much for one day. We all ended up agreeing to skip Avebury. We would have had to rush through Glastonbury and then drive way out of the way for Avebury and then tack another hour back at least. I would have loved to have gone there but was even happier spending more time in Glastonbury so it was a great choice. The Chalice Garden is the best. So peaceful and beautiful. A do not miss. We had the extra time to walk to the top of the Tor, which was amazing. I can not imagine stopping there and not walking up it. We even had time for a sit down lunch, which was needed. The very, very best part was that Tony knew of a pagan temple that we got to go in......by far the most amazing place ever!!! So glad we had Tony to let us sneak it in. Our driver was awesome and Tony kept us on track and on schedule and had a ton of interesting information. This was my favorite day trip ever. The meeting place was also easy to find. All in all, the best day trip ever.
Amazing trip!

VERY LONG TRIP
Diana N, Aug 2019
This rating has nothing to do with the driver/tour guide who was wonderful, but the whole trip. It is a very long day. Most of it driving. Stonehenge is wonderful. I understand why they add on other places since it is a good distance away, but you could just leave off the Avebury stop and spend more time in Glastonbury. I really wanted to stay there longer in fact all the people on the tour except 2 wanted to just stay there. The thing that really irritated me was the two who wanted to go on to Avebury (for the whole 30 mins stop) stayed on the tour van REALLY... This would have been a wonderful trip with just the two stops. I really felt rushed at the stops since the weather was horrible and the traffic was horrible and it was so long.
It was amazing!

Exactly what I was hoping this trip would be! Just the right amount of facts and myths, plus Tony our guide was great at pointing out where mystical energy could be felt. Would 100% do this tour again! A+

LoisAnne_D, Oct 2017
The Stonehenge visit was in many ways the biggest disappointment of my trip to Great Britain. Not the place itself, but the way the visit was structured. We spent more time waiting in line for the busses to go up to the attraction and to come back that there was very little time to take in the structure itself. Glastonbury was beautiful and seeing the round table was worthwhile. I did expect, however, for the trip to involve more discussion of the Arthurian legends, since this is how the trip was promoted.

The tour guide and driver were great but we didn't get to spend much time at each thing. We almost missed the last stop. I think out of all the stops maybe not stop at the Chalice Gardens....Stonehenge was amazing and I truly enjoyed the Abbey. I just wish we had more time in Winchester. But all in all it was a great day!
